前回の投稿に引き続き、京都洛北エリアのお寺巡りについてお話したいと思います。

今回の舞台は「詩仙堂」。正式名称は詩仙堂丈山寺凹凸窠(おうとつか)。凹凸窠とは、でこぼこした土地に建てた住居という意味です。

 

 

 

 

1641年に江戸時代の文人・石川丈山が59歳の時に終の棲家として建てた山荘で、90歳で没するまでの30年間隠居生活を送りながら漢詩や書、作庭に励んだと伝えられています。

なぜ凹凸窠が詩仙堂と呼ばれるのか。それは建物の中心に江戸時代の絵師・狩野探幽が描いた中国の詩人三十六人の肖像画が四方の壁に掲げられた「詩仙の間」があることに由来しています。肖像画の各詩人の頭上には、丈山が隷書体で記したそれぞれの詩人の漢詩も書かれていまして、探幽絵と隷書の達人でもある丈山の書の両方をぐるり360度楽しむことができます。

この詩仙の間から広がる庭園は丈山によって作庭さてたもので、丸く刈り込まれたサツキによって中国の山並みを表現している「唐様庭園」となっています。素晴らしい庭園を見ればわかるように丈山は庭造りの才能もあったのですね！

 

 

さて、用意されたスリッパに履き替えてお庭に出てみましょう。枯山水の庭園脇の石段を下って振り返ると、サツキと青もみじのあいだに詩仙堂の楼・「瀟月楼」のシルエットが何とも美しい！

 

 

 

 

ここから先は、戦後に整備された回遊式庭園になっているのですが苔やもみじや紫陽花の葉など新緑の世界を進んでいくと聞こえてくるのは一定のリズムを刻む「コン！」というあの音。今では和風庭園で普通に見かける竹で出来たこの装置。

前置きが長くなりましたが、タイトルにある「あるもの」とはこの“ししおどし”でございました。漢字では「鹿威し」。その名の通り元々は田畑や庭園を荒らす鳥獣を威嚇して追い払うこの農具を改良して日本庭園にはじめて用いたのが丈山であり、この詩仙堂の庭園であったのです。

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

漢詩に秀で、書や作庭にも非凡な才能を発揮した石川丈山ですが、驚くことに大坂の陣で手柄をたてたにもかかわらず軍令に背いたために家康の怒りを買い武士をやめたとう過去がありました。武士でもあり文人でもあった石川丈山のセンスが光る詩仙堂。今回は新緑の世界を堪能しましたが、次は赤く染まった紅葉の時期に訪れてみたいです。

Continuing from my previous post, I would like to talk about a tour of temples in the Rakuhoku area of Kyoto.

This time, we will be visiting Shisen-do Temple. The official name of the temple is Shisendo Jozan-ji Temple. The word “orbit” means a dwelling built on a bumpy piece of land.

It is said that in 1641, at the age of 59, Ishikawa Jozan, a literary figure of the Edo period, built this villa as his final residence, and spent 30 years in seclusion until his death at the age of 90, while devoting himself to Chinese poetry, calligraphy, and garden design.

Why is the orchard called Shisen-do? The reason is that in the center of the building, there is a Chinese poet Sanjin Sansei, who was painted by Kano Tanyu

The reason for the name “Shisen-no-Ma” (Room of Poets) is that the building is centered on a room with portraits of 36 Chinese poets painted by Kano Tanyu, a painter of the Edo period, hanging on the four walls. Above the head of each poet in the portraits is a Chinese poem written by Jōzan in his own handwriting, allowing visitors to enjoy both Tanyū’s paintings and Jōzan’s calligraphy, a master of calligraphy, from a 360-degree angle.

The garden that extends from the Shisen Room was created by Jozan and is a “Tang-style garden” with round-cropped azaleas to resemble a Chinese mountain range. As you can see from the magnificent garden, Jozan was also a talented gardener!

Now, let’s change into the slippers provided and go out into the garden.

Looking back down the stone steps beside the dry landscape garden, the silhouette of Shisendo’s tower, “Sogetsuro,” is beautiful among the satsuki trees and green maples!

As you walk through the fresh green world of moss, maple trees, and hydrangea leaves, you will hear the rhythmic “kon! The sound of the garden is now a common sight in Japanese-style gardens. This device made of bamboo is usually seen in Japanese-style gardens nowadays.

I have already said long enough, but the “something” in the title is this “Shishi-Osho” (a Japanese traditional deer-stealing device). In Chinese characters, it is called “Shika-weishi. As the name suggests, it was originally used to scare away birds and animals that were destroying fields and gardens.

It was Jozan who improved this tool and used it for the first time in a Japanese garden, and it was in this Shisen-do garden.

Ishikawa Jozan excelled in Chinese poetry, calligraphy, and garden design, but surprisingly, despite his success in the Battle of Osaka, he disobeyed military orders, incurring the wrath of Ieyasu and quitting the warrior’s life. Ishikawa Jozan was both a samurai and a man of letters, and his sense of style shines through at Shisen-do. This time I enjoyed the fresh green world, but next time I would like to visit during the season of reddish autumn leaves.

みなさまこんにちは、スタッフYでございます。

 

このところ、不安定なお天気と少し蒸しっとしてきたからでしょうか、少々寝苦しい夜がありますね。

そんな時は必ずと言っていいほど「枕」のせいにするのですがどうにかならないものでしょうか。

 

少し前に思い切って枕を買い替えようといろいろ揃えてはみたのですが、体調やその日のコンディションなどもあるのでしょうか、調子が良かったり悪かったり。よって、私の布団の周りは何個か枕が備わっている騒がしい環境であります。これはもう枕のせいじゃないのかな…とも最近思えてまいりましたが。

 

先日、その話を友人と致しましたら、結構枕に悩んでいる方も多いようでして、本格的にオーダー枕を使っているという方もおりました。みなさん、実は悩んでいたんですね。

 

そんな枕についていろいろ悩ましく思っていた矢先、「そんなことぐらいで今の枕に文句を言ってはいけないぞ」と、言わんばかりのフォルムの「枕」がお店に登場しておりまして。

 

 

 

 

 

聞くところによると、明治期の日本髪用の枕とのことですが、現在は飾り台として新たな人生を歩んでおります。

それにても、これは日本髪は崩れないように耳下腺あたりの部分を点でバランスをとって寝るタイプなのでしょうか。この枕どうみても現在の我々では使いこなせない素材そしてフォルム、なかなかのテクニックがいる気がいたしますね。

 

 

 

 

 

ちょっと気になったのですが、古人たちは枕について悩んでいなかったのでしょうか。気になってまいりました。

 

 

そんな枕、実はかなり古くから人間が使っていたものと考えられています。日本では、古墳や遺跡から枕と思われるものが発見されており、古いものでは弥生時代の枕が見つかっているとか。（しかし、これらの枕が実際に今と同じ使い方をされていたかどうかははっきりしていないそうであります。）

 

また、奈良時代頃までは木枕や、草で編んだ枕などが使われていたという記録があり、木枕は、当初は丸太をカットしてそのまま枕にしていたようであります。ですが、四角く削るなど整形されたものも使われていたようですから（ちょっと木材が首にそぐわなかったのでしょうか）悩んでいたのではなかろうか…と、お察しいたします。

 

また、奈良県の正倉院に白練綾大枕という枕が保管されており、これが現存するなかでは日本最古のものと言われております。白練綾大枕は、草を集めて四角く整形したものを、高級な絹の布で包んだ枕のようでして、やはり当時の天皇クラスですと高級素材「絹」を使用したり、中の素材もたぶん最高級の素材を最高級の製法でつくられたと推測いたしますので、これはちょっと現代の我々も使ってみたくなる枕ですね。さすが。

 

その後、平安時代以降枕はどんどん進化していき、そして歴史書や時代劇などで見かける箱枕も江戸時代頃に登場。（箱枕とは、木でつくられた箱型の土台のうえに、くくり枕を乗せたもの。くくり枕とは、草などを布で包んで筒状にし、両はしをくくった枕）

箱枕は、弊店に登場した枕と同じく、日本髪を崩さないよう首にあてて、左右のどちらかの側面向きで寝るタイプですので、やはり仰向けには寝れないタイプのようであります。また、箱の中に貴重品を隠していたこともあったようです。

 

この頃には箱の底が船形のように丸くなったものも登場したり（寝返りをうちやすいと人気を集めていたよう）博物館などで見られる旅行用の折りたたみ式枕が使われていたようでもあります。

いずれもタイプも日本髪を崩したくない形ではありますが、少々改良を重ねたものも出たりと、やはり枕のお悩みはあったのでしょうね。

 

しかし、これは慣れないうちは寝不足必須かと不安になりますが、まあ究極の手段としてうつ伏せ寝でしょうか。（どこも髪が当たらないので乱れませんね。）翌朝顔がむくむ可能性は否めないようですが、私がもしこの時代に生きていたとしたら、まあ顔がむくむ方を選んだとは思います笑。

 

そして、明治時代以降はヘアスタイルや生活様式の変化に伴い、文明開化とともに多様な枕が登場し、現在のような平らな枕が使われるようになったのは昭和初期頃と言われております。そば殻、綿といった天然素材が使われた枕のほか、高さ調節ができる枕など様々なタイプのものが開発されていきますますので、この辺りから箱枕はやはり大変だったとは気づきはじめたようなにおいがいたします。

 

そんな流れから、現在では様々な種類の枕が販売されています。なかでもここ数年よく見られるようになったのは、肩こり対策などの機能性枕。低反発、高反発など色々なタイプなど素材も形状も多様化。

 

とまあ、これまでの長い歴史や変遷を振り返っても、たぶん古人たちも枕には悩まされてきたのではと勝手な推測は致しております。

しかしながら私はまだこの寝苦しさをまだ枕のせいにしていたり、枕を探している方も多かったり、もしかしてこれは生きていく人類の永遠のお悩みではないのかと、最後はおかしな結論になっておりました。

 

それにしても、このような枕を使っていた当時の女性の「御髪は美しくありたい。」というモチベだけはこのフォルムからも伝わってまいりますし、そこは大変共感いたします。

Recently, there have been nights when it has been a little difficult to sleep, probably due to the unstable weather and the fact that it has become a little steamy.

When this happens, I always blame the “pillow”.

 

A while ago, I made a bold decision to buy a new pillow and tried to get a variety of pillows, but they were sometimes good and sometimes bad, probably due to my physical condition or the conditions of the day. So, I have a noisy environment with several pillows around my futon. I have recently begun to wonder if this is not the fault of the pillows.

 

The other day, I talked about this with a friend of mine, and it seems that there are many people who are worried about their pillows, and some of them are using custom-made pillows. I guess everyone is actually worried about pillows.

 

Just as I was thinking about the various problems I was having with pillows, a “pillow” appeared in the store with a form that seemed to say, “Don’t complain about your current pillow just because of something like that.

 

According to what I have heard, it was a pillow used for Japanese hair in the Meiji period, but now it has taken on a new life as a decorative stand. Then again, is this the type of pillow that Japanese hair sleeps on by balancing the part around the parotid gland on a point so that it does not collapse? This pillow is made of a material and form that we cannot use today, and it seems to require a great deal of skill.

 

This makes me wonder if ancient people did not worry about pillows.

 

 

It is believed that pillows have actually been used by humans since ancient times. In Japan, what seems to be pillows have been found in ancient burial mounds and ruins, and pillows from the Yayoi period have been found among the oldest. (However, it is unclear whether these pillows were actually used in the same way as today.)

 

There are also records of wooden pillows and pillows woven from grass being used until around the Nara period (710-794), and it seems that wooden pillows were initially cut from logs and used as pillows. Wooden pillows were initially made by cutting logs and using them as pillows. However, it seems that square shaped pillows were also used (perhaps the wood was a bit uncomfortable for the neck), so one can imagine that they must have been troubled…

 

In addition, the Shosoin Pillow in Nara Prefecture is said to be the oldest existing pillow in Japan. It is said that this pillow is the oldest existing pillow in Japan. The pillow seems to be made of a square shaped piece of grass wrapped in a high quality silk cloth, and we can assume that the Emperor class at that time used high quality “silk” and the inside material was probably made of the highest quality material by the highest quality manufacturing method. I guess it was made of the highest quality materials and using the highest quality manufacturing method. As one would expect.

 

Later, after the Heian Period, pillows evolved rapidly, and the box pillows seen in history books and historical dramas appeared around the Edo Period. （The box pillow is a box-shaped base made of wood on which a kukuri pillow is placed. Like the pillows that appeared in our store, the box pillow is placed on the neck to keep the Japanese hair from falling out, and is a type of pillow that can be slept on either side, so it seems to be a type that cannot be slept on one’s back. It also seems that they sometimes hid valuables inside the box.

 

At this time, some boxes with a rounded bottom like a ship (which was popular because it made it easier to turn over in bed) and folding pillows for traveling, which can be seen in museums, were used.

All of these types of pillows are shaped in a way that one would not want to disrupt the Japanese hair, but there are some that have been slightly improved, so it is likely that there were still problems with the pillows.

 

However, I was worried that I might not be able to get enough sleep until I get used to it, but I guess the ultimate solution would be to sleep on my stomach. (I guess it’s not too messy since my hair doesn’t hit anywhere.) (It is undeniable that my face might be swollen the next morning, but if I had lived in this era, I would have chosen to have a swollen face, lol.

 

After the Meiji period (1868-1912), as hairstyles and lifestyles changed, a variety of pillows appeared along with the civilization of Japan, and it is said that the flat pillow as we know it today came into use around the early Showa period (1926-1989). In addition to pillows made of natural materials such as buckwheat hulls and cotton, various types of pillows were developed, including pillows with adjustable heights, so it seems that people began to realize that box pillows were still very difficult to make.

 

As a result, various types of pillows are now being sold. Among them, functional pillows for stiff shoulders, etc., have become common in recent years. There is a wide variety of materials and shapes, including low rebound, high rebound, and other types.

 

Looking back on the long history of pillows, I have a selfish guess that even the ancients must have been troubled by pillows.

However, I still find it strange that many people are still blaming pillows for their sleeping difficulties, or are still searching for pillows, and I have come to the conclusion that perhaps this is an eternal problem for human beings to live with.

先日の台風や豪雨にて、大変な被害にあわれた皆様に、先ずははお見舞い申し上げます。

 

先日の豪雨、ここ名古屋でもやはり一時、もの凄い雨が降りだしまして。お店の窓から、これは大丈夫なのか大丈夫でないのか…自宅に帰れるのか足止めをくらうのか…などど、あのような状況では様々なことが頭をよぎり、悩ましいかぎりでありました。

 

ですが、豪雨の情報や映像を見ますと、あれよあれよと床上浸水や車に水がはいりこんだりと本当に一瞬のことのようですので、自分だったらどうしただろうと思うのですが、本当にその一瞬の判断が大切なんだなと切実に思った次第でございます。とにかく刻々と変わる気象情報をマメにチェックすることはしなければなりませんね。

 

さてさて、そんな豪雨が立ち去った後の街中のお宅のお庭先に、ひょこり顔を出しているあの鮮やかなお花が大変気になる季節になってまいりましたね。

 

そう、紫陽花。

 

色々な種類、色、さらに種類が増えた気がしますが、今年もちょっとご近所の紫陽花チェックしてみました。

 

 

 

 

 

 

これ、実は千種区近辺歩道の植栽。お天気も相まって鮮やかさが映えます。ちょうど満開になりましたが、花？（本当はがくの部分）の部分が大きいせいか存在感だけは桜といい勝負だなと私は勝手に思っております。

 

この紫陽花、実はポジティブな花言葉とネガティブな花言葉をもっているそう。

 

その由来はといいますと、「移り気」「浮気」といったネガティブな花言葉は、土の成分によって花色が変わる性質に由来しているのですが、一方、ポジティブな花言葉は、江戸時代に起こったあるエピソードに由来しているようでもあります。

 

江戸時代のお話ですが、ドイツ人医師シーボルトは、お滝さんという美しい女性と結婚したことは有名なお話ですが、やがてシーボルトは、国外追放となって日本を去ることに。ドイツに帰国する際にアジサイを持ち帰り、お滝さんにちなんで「オタクサ」という名前で紹介しております。

 

そんな実話から『乙女の愛』『辛抱強い愛』といったポジティブな花言葉もついたようであります。

また、花が寄り添って咲いている様子からも日本ではポジティブな花言葉のほうが印象が強いとされております。

 

二つの花言葉を知ってしまうと、美しい衣装を身にまとい、二つの陰と陽の顔を持った振り回し系彼女のようにだんだん見えてまいりましたね。二つの顔を持つ妖艶な美女だったのか…。ですが、そんな彼女たちに今年もたくさんの人がその魅力に振り回されておりますね。私も喜んで振り回されている一人であります笑。

 

紫陽花、イメージは雨の日。ですがこんな晴れた日もなかなかよくって、先日見かけた紫陽花は青空の下で意気揚々と揺れ、その寄り添った姿の彼女たちはなんだかポジティブな印象を受けました。

 

よって、その日の花ことばは「乙女の愛」「辛抱強い愛」だった気がします。

First of all, I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to all those who have been affected by the recent typhoon and torrential rains.

 

The other day, it rained so hard that even here in Nagoya, we had to look out of the store window and wonder if we would be okay or not…would we be able to go home or be stranded…and so many other things were going through our minds as we were in that situation. I was worried.

 

However, looking at the information and images of the torrential rains, it seemed that it was really only a matter of moments, with flooding on the floor and water pouring into cars, so I wondered what I would have done, but I sincerely felt the importance of making a split-second decision. Anyway, we have to check the ever-changing weather information frequently.

 

Now, it is the time of the year when I am very much interested in those vivid flowers that are suddenly appearing in the yards of houses in the city after the heavy rain has gone away.

 

Yes, hydrangeas.

 

I have checked out the hydrangeas in my neighborhood this year as well, and I found that the number of varieties, colors, and types of hydrangeas has increased.

 

These are actually planted on a sidewalk near Chikusa Ward. The vividness of the flowers looks great in combination with the weather. The flowers have just come into full bloom. （I think it is a good match for cherry blossoms in terms of presence, perhaps because of the large size of the flower (actually, the stem).

 

This hydrangea actually has both positive and negative meanings in the language of flowers.

 

The negative flower language, such as “changeable temperament” and “unfaithfulness,” is derived from the fact that the color of the flower changes depending on the composition of the soil, while the positive flower language seems to be derived from an episode that occurred in the Edo period.

 

It is a well-known story that Siebold, a German doctor, married a beautiful woman named Otaki, but eventually Siebold was deported and left Japan. When he returned to Germany, he brought back a hydrangea and introduced it under the name “Otakusa” after Mr. Otaki.

Such a true story is said to have given rise to positive flower words such as “maiden’s love” and “patient love.

In Japan, the positive language of flowers is also more impressive because of the way the flowers bloom close together.

 

Knowing these two words in the language of flowers, she is becoming more and more like a swinging girl with a beautiful costume and two faces, one yin and the other yang. She was such a bewitching beauty…. But many people have been swept away by their charms this year, and I am one of them.

 

The image of hydrangea is a rainy day. The hydrangeas I saw the other day were swaying enthusiastically under the blue sky, and their close together appearance gave me a positive impression.

 

Therefore, I would like to choose “maiden’s love” and “patient love” as the flower words for that day.

最近某ドラマの影響で、道端に咲く草花に目が行くようになりました。

お気に入りはハナミズキやドクダミで、４枚の白い花びらが何とも愛らしく、ついシャッターを押してしまいます。

 

 

 

 

 

なぜこの花達に惹かれるのがずっと不思議に思っていたのですが、先日「数字の秘密」を取り上げたテレビ番組を見て自分なりに納得がいきました。

 

学生時代から数学は大の苦手なのですが、数学上の未解決問題などの話はなぜか好きで、宇宙は数学の法則に従っているなんて話を聞くとテンションが上がります。

シマウマの縞模様やチーターの斑点模様にも法則があり数式で表せるそうです。

式は全く理解できませんが、何だか凄いということは分かります。

 

そこで花びらの枚数にもフィボナッチ数列という数の並び１，１，２，３、５，８，１３．．．が潜んでいるとのこと。

最初の数字と２番目の数字を足して３番目になり、２番目と３番目の数字を足して４番目の数字になる、という具合に続いていきます。

ほとんどの花の花びらの枚数がこの数字に当てはまるそうです。

今まで千差万別に成り立っていると思っていた世界が違って見え、不思議な感覚になります。

 

では私の好きなハナミズキやドクダミはなぜ花びらが４枚なのでしょうか？

宇宙の法則に反しているのでしょうか？

そういえば何だか２種類とも人工的で折り紙で作った花にも見えてきます。

と思って調べてみたら、なんと私が見ていた白い花びらは花びらではありませんでした。

ハナミズキの花びらのように見えるものは苞（ほう）と呼ばれ、他の植物の「がく」にあたります。花の中心に見える緑色の一つ一つが１個の花（つぼみ）で、それぞれのつぼみが小さな花を開きます。

 

ドクダミも白い花びらに見えるものは総苞片という「葉」になります。花びらも「がく」もなく、中心に花穂（かすい）という穂の形で咲く小さな花がびっしりとついています。

これまで、なんて可愛い白い花…などと呟いていた自分が滑稽です。そして植物の奥深さに圧倒されます。

ちなみにひまわりの花びらは５枚！だそうです。

Recently, due to the influence of a certain drama, I have started to pay attention to flowers and grasses that bloom on roadsides.

My favorites are dogwood and dogwood, with their four white petals that are so lovely that I can’t help but press the shutter button.

 

I have always wondered why I was attracted to these flowers, but the other day I watched a TV program on the “secret of numbers” and it made sense to me.

 

I have been a terrible math person since I was a student, but for some reason I like stories about unsolved mathematical problems, and I get excited when I hear that the universe follows the laws of mathematics.

I heard that the stripes on a zebra and the spots on a cheetah have laws and can be expressed in mathematical formulas.

I don’t understand the equation at all, but I do know that it is something amazing.

 

So, the Fibonacci sequence of numbers 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13… is also latent in the number of petals. is also latent in the number of petals.

The first and second numbers add up to the third, the second and third numbers add up to the fourth, and so on.

The number of petals on most flowers is said to correspond to this number.

It is a strange feeling to see the world in a different way than I had previously thought it consisted of a thousand different kinds of flowers.

 

Then, why do my favorite dogwood and dokudami have four petals?

Is it against the laws of the universe?

Come to think of it, both kinds of flowers look somewhat artificial and like they are made of origami.

So I looked them up, and to my surprise, the white petals I was seeing were not petals at all.

What looks like a petal of dogwood is called a bract, which corresponds to the “stem” of other plants. Each of the greenish bracts seen in the center of the flower is a single flower (bud), and each bud opens a small flower.

 

In dokudami, what appears to be white petals are bracts, or leaves. It has neither petals nor buds, but rather a cluster of small flowers in the shape of an ear, called a kasui, at the center.

I feel funny for having muttered to myself, “What a pretty white flower…” until now. I was amazed at the depth of the plant.

By the way, sunflowers have five petals! I heard it has five petals.

はじめまして、皆さまこんにちは。スタッフKでございます。

どうぞよろしくお願い致します。

 

台風２号の影響でここ名古屋も昨夜から雨が降り続いておりますが、被害が出ないよう祈っております。。

さて、二週間ほど前になりますが、新緑がまばゆいばかりの京都は北洛の地を巡って参りました。

叡山電鉄を乗り継いで最初に向かったのは瑠璃光院、金福寺などですが、こちらはまたの機会に。。。

一乗寺駅を降りて15分ほど歩いていきますと、石畳の先に山門が見えてきます。そして山門をくぐり石段を上がると目に飛び込んできたのは枯山水「奔龍庭」。

 

 

 

 

通常色砂の渦巻きは砂紋と呼ばれ流れる水を表現していることが多いのですがこちらは白砂を雲海に見立て天空を自在に奔る龍を石組みで表現しているそうです。2013に造られたとあってモダンな印象ですね。

中門をくぐると十牛図を題材にして造られた「十牛之庭」が広がります。苔と竹林、青もみじの中に牛に見立てた十の石が配されています。可愛らしいお地蔵さんもいますよ！鶯の鳴き声も聞こえてきます。

 

 

 

 

 

そして裏山へと続く細道を登っていくと、在りました！！わたたくしが最も楽しみにいていた圓光寺を開基した徳川家康公のお墓東照宮です。大河ドラマの影響もあり家康公にまつわる物事に興味が増し増しのスタッフKはテンションが上がりながら手を合わせて丁寧にお参り致しました。

 

 

ふと頭をよぎったこと、あれ？家康公のお墓って日光東照宮では？？

調べましたらこちらのお墓には家康公の「歯」が埋葬されているとのことでした（笑）

なんにせよ美しい庭園の緑に癒された旅でございました。。

Due to Typhoon No. 2, it has been raining here in Nagoya since last night, and we are praying that it will not cause any damage.

About two weeks ago, I visited the northern part of Kyoto, where the fresh green leaves were dazzling.

The first places we visited after taking the Eizan Railway were Ruriko-in Temple and Kinpuku-ji Temple, but that will be another story for another time.

After getting off the train at Ichijoji Station and walking for about 15 minutes, you will see the temple gate at the end of the stone pavement. After passing through the gate and going up the stone steps, you will see a karesansui (dry landscape garden) called “Torinryu-tei.

 

It is said that this garden was built in 2013, giving it a modern impression.

After passing through the central gate, you will see the “Jugyu no Niwa” garden, which was created based on the theme of the Ten Oxen Drawings. Ten stones resembling cows are placed amidst moss, bamboo groves, and green maples. There is also a cute Jizo (guardian deity of children)! You can also hear the chirping of a Japanese bush warbler.

 

Then, we climbed up the narrow path leading to the hill behind the temple, and there it was! This is Toshogu, the tomb of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of Enko-ji Temple, which I was most looking forward to visiting. Staff K, whose interest in things related to Ieyasu Ieyasu has been increasing due to the influence of the historical drama, was so excited that she carefully prayed with her hands in prayer.

 

A thought suddenly crossed my mind. Wasn’t Ieyasu’s grave at Nikko Toshogu Shrine?

I checked and found that Ieyasu’s “tooth” is buried in this grave (laugh).

Anyway, we were healed by the beautiful greenery of the garden.

みなさま、こんにちはスタッフYでございます。

 

 

 

 

のろのろ台風2号がいよいよ沖縄付近に近づいてきておりますね。

 

台風2号は本日正午ごろには沖縄県の先島諸島に最も近づき、2日にかけて沖縄地方に最も接近する見込みのようでして、暴風や高波それに大雨に警戒が必要とのこと。

 

先日も、商店や自宅のガラスや屋外の物に転倒飛散防止の対策に奔走する様子が流れてきておりまして台風、心配であります。また、台風周辺の湿った空気が流れ込んで前線の活動が活発になるため、西日本と東日本でも3日にかけて大雨となるおそれがあるようでして、この梅雨と台風が一度に訪れた６月は大丈夫か…などと心配からのスタートとなりました。

 

昨日も台風や気象のことを気にしてはしていたのですが、そんなところにちょっとうれしいいただきものが！。

なんでしょう…？。ヒントは、この季節にスーパーの店頭などに並ぶあのぷっくりとしたあれ。

 

“梅”でございます。

 

 

 

 

梅というのはいつもそうなんですが私に限っては、突然いただくことが多く、この突然が本当に嬉しい。

 

なにせ時期、イベントも少なく、お天気も今一つ、祭日もしばらくないと、なんだか気分が冴えないこの時期。まだ青い梅からもほんのりさわやかな香り漂い、あのぷっくりしたフォルムにモヤモヤを吹っ飛ばす何かを感じずにはいられません。

 

それくらい梅好きなのですが、そんな梅を今年はどうしようかと、いただいた友人と少し話をしていましたら、梅干しは少々手間とハードルが高いので、梅ジュース、梅酢ドリンク、梅酒などのドリンク系にしようということに。お互いその後の経過報告などをするということにいたしました。

 

そんなわけで、昨日はさっそく検索。梅酢もいいし、梅酒も捨てがたい。梅はちみつも挑戦してみようか…。

そうこうして、まだ決め手に欠けてはいるのですが、何せ時間がありません。決行は、明日としておりますので、仕事が終わりましたら早速材料調達をせねばなりません。材料の分量を割り出して、容器の消毒をして…

いかん、一旦“梅”のことは忘れよう…。

 

しかしまあ、梅には腸内環境を整え、便秘予防、肥満や糖尿病予防、免疫力アップ、抗アレルギー効果など様々な効果が期待されているようですが、目の前のことを忘れさせる逃避効果もあるようですので、取り扱いには十分ご注意ください笑。

Typhoon No. 2 is finally approaching the vicinity of Okinawa.

Typhoon No. 2 is expected to be closest to the Sakishima Islands in Okinawa Prefecture by noon today, and is expected to be closest to the Okinawa area on the second day of the month, so we need to be on the lookout for storms, high waves, and heavy rain.

The other day, we saw people scrambling to take measures to prevent glass and outdoor objects from falling over and shattering in their stores and homes, and we are concerned about the typhoon. In addition, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in western and eastern Japan over the next three days as the moist air around the typhoon flows in and the activity of the front becomes more active.

 

 

Yesterday, too, I was worrying about typhoons and weather, but then I received a nice little gift!

What is it…? The clue is that plump thing you see in supermarkets at this time of the year. They are plums.

 

Plums are always a common gift, but for me, I often receive them out of the blue, and this suddenness makes me very happy.

 

It’s that time of the year when there are few events, the weather is not so good, and there are no holidays for a while, so my mood is somewhat dull. The still green plums have a slightly refreshing aroma, and I can’t help but feel something about their plump form that blows away my blues.

 

I love plums that much, but when I was talking with a friend of mine about what to do with them this year, we decided to make plum juice, plum vinegar drink, and plum wine, since dried plums are a bit time-consuming and difficult to make. We decided to report back to each other on the progress of the project.

 

 

So, yesterday, we immediately started searching. Ume vinegar is good, and plum wine is hard to throw away.

We still haven’t made up our minds, but we don’t have much time. We have decided to go ahead with the project tomorrow, so I have to procure the ingredients as soon as I finish my work…. I have to find out the quantity of ingredients, disinfect the containers….

 

 

Oh no, let’s forget about “ume” for now.

 

I will do my best from this afternoon.

皆さま、こんにちは。スタッフMです。

本日５月３１日は世界保健機関が１９８９年に「世界禁煙デー」に制定。この「世界禁煙デー」は国際デーの１つで英語表記は「World No Tobacco Day」だそうです。

 

皆さまご存じの通りたばこは肺がんのリスクを高め、動脈硬化や心臓病などの発症率も高めてしまいます。また受動喫煙も大きな問題の１つで、実際に吸っていなくても周囲の人の健康にも害を及ぼしてしまいます。

「世界禁煙デー」はたばこを吸わないことが一般的な習慣になることを目指して制定されました。

ここで喫煙が及ぼす健康状態について少し具体的にお話させていただきますと・・・

たばこの煙には、ニコチン、一酸化炭素、アンモニアなど約5,300種類の化学物質が含まれ、その中にはベンゼンやベンゾピレンなどの発がん性物質が約７０種含まれているそうです。

これらの物質は、喉、肺、などたばこの煙に直接触れる場所だけでなく、血液を通じて全身に運ばれ、がん、慢性閉塞性肺疾患、虚血性心疾患や脳卒中などの原因になります。

ニコチンや発がん性物質は、紙たばこだけでなく加熱式たばこの煙（蒸気）にも含まれるため、加熱式だからといって体に害がないと考えてはいけないということなのですね。

 

そして煙には、喫煙者が吸う「主流煙」とたばこの先端から発生する「副流煙」、主流煙の一部が呼気によって排出される「呼出煙」があり、本人だけでなく周囲の方への悪影響も及ぼします。しかもよく言われている副流煙の方が主流煙より数倍も有害物質があるそうです。

 

そして喫煙される方に朗報ですが、禁煙開始２０分で健康状態は良くなっていき、1週間続けるだけで顔色が良くなったり、目覚めがかなり良くなるんですって！

 

いつも風光舎のブログを読んでいただいている方の中で喫煙されている方がいらっしゃれば、この機会に1週間禁煙してみるのも良いかもしれませんね。ご自身ペースで健やかな身体作りを始めてみましょう。

Today, May 31st, was designated by the World Health Organization in 1989 as World No Tobacco Day. This “World No Tobacco Day” is one of the international days, and the English notation seems to be “World No Tobacco Day”.

 

 

As you all know, smoking increases the risk of lung cancer, and also increases the incidence of arteriosclerosis and heart disease. Passive smoking is also a big problem, and it harms the health of people around you even if you don’t actually smoke.

World No Tobacco Day was established with the aim of making non-smoking a common practice.

Let me talk a little more specifically about the health effects of smoking…

Cigarette smoke contains about 5,300 chemicals, including nicotine, carbon monoxide, and ammonia, including about 70 carcinogenic substances, such as benzene and benzopyrene.

These substances are carried not only to the throat, lungs, and other places that come into direct contact with tobacco smoke, but also to the whole body through the blood, causing cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, ischemic heart disease, and stroke.

Nicotine and carcinogenic substances are contained not only in paper cigarettes but also in the smoke (vapor) of heat-not-burn cigarettes, so you should not think that heat-not-burn cigarettes are harmless to your body.

 

 

Smoke includes “mainstream smoke” that smokers inhale, “sidestream smoke” that is generated from the tip of a cigarette, and “breathing smoke” that part of the mainstream smoke is exhaled. It also has a bad effect on people. Moreover, it is said that sidestream smoke contains several times more harmful substances than mainstream smoke.

 

 

And good news for those who smoke, their health improves within 20 minutes of starting smoking cessation.

みなさまこんにちは、スタッフNでございます。

 

諸事情により今日でこのお仕事を辞めることになり、これが最後のブログになります。

 

いつも楽しく働かせていただいたので残念ですが、これから新しいスタッフが面白いブログを書いてくださると思うので、楽しみにしていてくださいませ。

 

先日、毎年Nが楽しみにしている森道市場に行ってまいりました。

 

森道市場は、ラグーナ蒲郡で開催される、フェスでございます。

 

「モノとごはんと音楽の市場」を標榜し、日本全国から集まった主に食品、雑貨を販売する300店以上のテナントによる集合市場と、複数のステージでの音楽ライブを実施しております。

来場者数は毎年約3万人で、主催が利益をとらない方針で運営を行っているため、チケットを安く出来ているそうです。

 

毎年「めちゃくちゃ楽しいフェスがあるから行こう！」と他人を巻き込んで参戦しております。

 

 

一昨日、主催者の岩瀬さんが亡くなり、森道市場を続けるかどうか悩んだそうですが、周りからの後押しもあり、続けることになったそうです。

 

Ｎが一番好きなフェスなので、なくなるかもしれなかった事実を知って驚きでした。

 

 

おいしいごはん、おしゃれでこだわりのある素敵な雑貨、きれいな景色、遊園地乗り放題、どこにいても聞こえる音楽、キャンプなどなど素敵な空間しかないのです。

 

 

そのほかにも、砂浜ではスラックラインができたり家族連れでも楽しむことができます。

 

今年は、ボルダリング、棍棒飛ばしが追加されておりまして、異様な盛り上がりを見せておりました。

 

 

棍棒を飛ばすだけで、こんなに盛り上がれることを考え付いた方は天才だなと思います。

 

 

皆さんお酒を飲んで音楽にゆられて酔っていたからかもしれませんが、見てる人を見てるのが面白かったです。

 

毎年並んでいるパエリアのお店があるのですが、今年もいただきました。

 

 

 

お店の方も陽気な方が多いので、音楽に合わせて踊ったり、撮影OKだったりどこを見ても楽しめる空間でした。

 

 

サバスと言って、バスがサウナになっているものもございました。

 

Nが男性だったら喜んでサバスになってそうなのですが、化粧がおちるため断念。

 

 

写真撮影だけでもOKみたいだったので、一瞬でも乗っておけばよかったです。

 

 

他にもテントサウナやウィスキング体験など、なんでもありという感じでした。

 

 

ライブやフェスが原因で心配されるのが音響障害でございます。

 

音響障害とは、突然大きな音を聞いたり、大きな音を聴き続けたりすることで、内耳にダメージを受け、聴力が低下することをいいます。

 

聴力の低下以外にも、耳鳴りや耳が詰まった感じがあり、場合によっては痛みを感じることもあります。

 

一般的に、85dBの音を1日8時間聞いていると5〜15年後に騒音性難聴・ヘッドホン難聴を発症する可能性があると言われています。

 

85dB以上の音の大きさというと

• フェス・ライブ・コンサート：110dB
• ヘッドホンやイヤホンで聞く音楽の音量：100dB
• ドライヤー：100dB
• 電車の中・工事現場：85dB

と日常の中にもあることががわかります。

フェスでお子様が前方の方で音がうるさくて泣いているのを見かけますが、あれはとても危険です。

 

森道市場でも親御さんがちゃんと子供にイヤーマフをされている場面をみかけて安心いたしました。

 

 

リユースカップやゴミコンパストなど環境に配慮した取り組みもありました。

 

使い終わった割りばしをさしていくわりばしアートもございましたよ。

 

せっかく古美術なのだから、食べんのばかりではなく、アートの写真を撮っておけばよかったと後悔しております。

 

お笑いライブもあったようで、Nの好きなヨネダ２０００が別日で見れなかったことが残念でございます。

 

他にもAマッソや天竺鼠などが来ていたみたいですが、サブカル受けしそうなチョイスがまたいいですね。

 

秋田のノンアルコール甘酒「KOJI　CLEAR」が置いてあったり、皆さまのこだわりが最高でございました。

 

会場内にはわんちゃんの姿もあり、ほっこりする場面もたくさんございました。

 

そういえば、わんちゃんのごはんも売ってましたね。

 

 

毎年お客さんもおしゃれな方が多くて、ついつい見てしまいます。

 

後からInstagramなどを見てみると、やはりモデルの方だったりインフルエンサーの方だったりいたします。

 

Ｎも会場に売っている服を買っておしゃれに変身できないかと思っていたのですが、気が付いたらずっと食べておりました。

 

可愛い器や木のお皿などもありましたので古美術好きの方も楽しめるかもしれません。

 

購入した人だけが屋根にのって食べることができるチュロス屋さんもあったのですが、案の定頭をぶつけました（笑）

 

アーティストの方も、ステージ横がプール、逆側にはジェットコースターというステージも珍しく、楽しんでおられました。

 

 

一緒に行った知人は、地元にこんなフェスがあったとは知らなかったそうです。

 

灯台下暗しですね。

The other day, I went to Morimichi Market, which N looks forward to every year.

 

 

Morimichi Market is a festival held in Laguna Gamagori.

 

 

Advocating a “market of goods, rice and music”, we have a collective market with more than 300 tenants mainly selling food and miscellaneous goods gathered from all over Japan and live music on multiple stages.

The number of visitors is about 30,000 every year, and it seems that the tickets are cheap because the organizer operates with a policy of not taking profits.

 

Every year, I participate in the festival by involving others, saying, “Let’s go because there is a really fun festival!”

 

 

 

The day before yesterday, Mr. Iwase, the organizer, passed away, and he was worried about whether to continue Morimichi Market.

 

 

N is my favorite festival, so I was surprised to learn that it might have been canceled.

 

 

 

There are only wonderful spaces such as delicious food, stylish and wonderful miscellaneous goods, beautiful scenery, unlimited rides to amusement parks, music that can be heard anywhere, camping, etc.

 

 

 

Besides that, you can also enjoy slacklining on the sandy beach with your family.

 

 

This year, bouldering and stick-flying were added, and it was a strange excitement.

 

 

 

I think it’s a genius to think that just throwing a club can make it so exciting.

 

 

 

It may have been because everyone was drunk and rocked by the music, but it was interesting to see the people watching.

 

 

There is a paella shop that I line up every year, and I had it this year as well.

 

 

 

 

 

There are many cheerful people in the shop, so it was a space where you could enjoy dancing to the music, shooting OK, and so on.

 

 

 

There was also a sauna called Sabbath.

 

 

If N were a man, he would be happy to become Sabbath, but he gave up because his makeup would fall off.

 

 

 

It seemed that it was OK to just take a picture, so I should have just ridden for a moment.

 

 

 

Other than that, I felt that there was anything else, such as a tent sauna and a whisking experience.

空気清浄機の音が日に日に大きくなるので、おかしいと思い中を開けてみましたら・・・なんと、フィルターのビニールがついたままだったのです。

 

購入してから何カ月もたつので、その間ずっと空気清浄できておらず、ただの飾りだったなんて、ショックです。

 

ビニールを外したら無事、無音になりました。

 

 

３台購入して、他の２台は大丈夫だったのですが、リビングのものだけ外し忘れていたようです。

 

 

 

このようなうっかりは日常茶飯事でして、先日はメイク直しシートの開け方を間違えてしまいました。

 

Nが以前使っていたものは、ビニールに入っていまして、それをあけて、中にある真ん中のシールをはがして使うタイプでした。

 

今回購入したものは、外側のビニールに切れ込みもないしですし、なかなか硬くてあけられない。

 

その時点で気づけばよかったのですが、あきらめてはさみで開封したところ、それは切ってはいけない袋で、中のシートが出てきてしまったのです。

 

仕方なくジップロックにいれて持ち歩いております。

 

このようにブログのネタになるのでいいのですが、皆さまもお気を付けくださいませ。

 

 

 

 

 

知人から日光東照宮の写真が送られてきました。

 

東照宮は家康の墓所であり、彼を神として祀る神社でございます。

東照宮とは、「東から照らす神社」という意味でございます。

 

家康は死後に神となり、日本列島の東側から全国を照らし、守護しており、 家康の死後息子の秀忠によって創建されました。

 

世界遺産「日光の社寺」の中で最も有名で、 境内には一日中眺めていても飽きないことから「日暮らし門」と呼ばれた「陽明門」をはじめ、国宝8棟、重要文化財34棟を含む55棟の建造物が並びます。

 

 

 

 

 

日光東照宮と言えば、有名なのが猿ですよね。

 

三猿が最も知られていますが、全部で8面に16匹の猿の彫刻があります。

 

母猿と子猿を描いた母子の彫刻から始まり、三猿を描いた幼児期、そして少年期から大人になるまでが各面に描かれ、これらはそれぞれ人生の教訓を表しています。

 

「見ざる聞かざる言わざる」という言葉は、孔子（こうし・中国の思想家・紀元前552年～479年）の論語が由来という説もあります。 「礼節にそむくことに注目してはいけない。」 「礼節にそむくことに耳を傾けてはいけない。」という教訓からきております。

 

 

 

 

 

お寺や神社にとって猫の彫刻は珍しくありませんが、眠っている猫というのは東照宮の眠り猫だけなんだそうでございます。

 

でもよく見ると前足をしっかりと踏ん張っているんです。

 

実はこの猫、家康のお墓の近くに彫られていて、眠ったフリをしていても、家康を守るためにいつでも飛びかかれるよう準備しているんだそうです。

 

3代将軍徳川家光は、幕府の威光を周りに示すべく、日光東照宮の造営におよそ57万両という莫大な費用をかけたそうです。

 

その費用を現在のお金に換算するとおよそ680億円になります。

 

額が大きすぎてあまり実感がわきませんね。

 

古美術風光舎にもかわいらしい猿が２匹おります。

 

そういえば、眠り猫もおりました。

It’s been months since I bought it, so it’s a shock that the air hasn’t been cleaned all that time and it’s just a decoration.

 

 

After removing the vinyl, it became silent.

 

 

 

I bought 3 units and the other 2 units were fine, but it seems that I forgot to remove the one in the living room.

 

 

 

 

 

This kind of carelessness is a daily occurrence, and the other day I misunderstood how to open the make-up sheet.

 

 

The one that N used to use was a type that came in a plastic container, and you opened it and peeled off the sticker in the middle.

 

 

The one I bought this time has no cuts in the outer vinyl, and it’s hard to open.

 

 

I should have realized at that point, but when I gave up and opened it with scissors, it was a bag that shouldn’t be cut, and the sheet inside came out.

 

 

I have no choice but to carry it around in a ziplock bag.

An acquaintance sent me a photo of Nikko Toshogu Shrine.

 

 

Toshogu Shrine is Ieyasu’s graveyard and a shrine that enshrines him as a god.

 

Toshogu means “shrine illuminated from the east”.

 

Ieyasu became a god after his death, and illuminates and protects the entire country from the eastern side of the Japanese archipelago.It was founded by his son Hidetada after Ieyasu’s death.

 

It is the most famous of the World Heritage “Shrines and Temples of Nikko”. In the precincts, there are 8 national treasures and 34 important cultural properties, including the “Yomeimon”, which was called “Higurashimon” because you can look at it all day long. There are 55 buildings including buildings.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Nikko Toshogu Shrine is famous for monkeys.

 

 

The three wise monkeys are the best known, but there are 16 monkey sculptures on eight sides in all.

 

Beginning with a mother and child carving depicting a mother monkey and her child monkeys, then infancy depicting the three monkeys, and from boyhood to adulthood, each face depicts a lesson in life.

 

There is also a theory that the phrase “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil” is derived from the Analects of Confucius (Koshi, Chinese philosopher, 552-479 BC). It comes from the precepts, “Don’t pay attention to what is immoral” and “Don’t listen to what is immoral.”

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sculptures of cats are not uncommon in temples and shrines, but the sleeping cat is said to be the only sleeping cat in Toshogu Shrine.

 

But if you look closely, you can see that the front legs are firmly planted.

 

In fact, this cat was carved near Ieyasu’s grave, and even if he pretends to be asleep, he’s ready to pounce at any moment to protect Ieyasu.

 

Tokugawa Iemitsu, the 3rd shogun, is said to have spent a huge amount of money, about 570,000 ryo, on the construction of Nikko Toshogu Shrine in order to show the authority of the shogunate.

 

Converting that cost into today’s money would be about 68 billion yen.

 

The forehead is too big to really feel it.

 

 

There are also two cute monkeys at the Antique Fukousha.

みなさまこんにちは、スタッフYでございます。

 

このところお出かけシーズンのつぶやきが多かったものですから、ここで少し落ち着かねばと思っておりまして、今日は朝から目線を至近距離に戻して何を呟こうか考えておりました。

 

そうしましたら、このGalleの小さな花瓶がこちらにアピールをしてきました。

Galleへの憧れは私の中ではものすごくハードルが高い印象でありまして。昔から邸宅と呼ばれるようなお宅の応接間にはこのガレかガレ風かわかりませんが、あの円盤型のランプが飾り棚においてあり、そのガラス模様からもれる薄暗い光に、こんなきれいなものがあるのか…と、感動したことが子供スタッフYには印象に残っております。

 

庶民派で育ったスタッフYには、なんだかその薄暗さが大人のイメージでもあり、そこにあるだけで高貴なたたずまいが漂ってくる印象が、到底手の届かない世界なんだろうな…と、思わせたのでしょう。そこでハードルの高い印象がついてしまったようですね。

 

そんなGalleなんて滅相もないと思っていたのですが、まあ、もういい大人になったことですし、Galleのことを知ってみるのはいいのではないかと、今日はガレの花器を眺めておりました。

 

 

 

 

Emile Galle (エミール・ガレ)』 1846-1904（フランス・ナンシー生まれ）。

実は、植物・昆虫学者ということは有名ですね。

 

ガレは、父の経営する陶器・ガラス会社の芸術部門の責任者となり、のちに継承しております。情熱を注いでいた植物や昆虫はガレの主要な題材となり、どの作品にもその洗練された感性と想像力で独特の世界観を表現しています。

 

それらの作品の功績も素晴らしく、1878年はパリ万国博覧会にて独自に開発した酸化コバルトによって淡青色に発色させた素地の月光色ガラスや陶器を出品し、銅賞を受賞、また庭園装飾のための陶器では銀賞を受賞。

1884年の作品を出品した装飾美術中央連盟主催の「石木土そしてガラス」展では金賞を受賞しております。

 

 

そんなGalleですが、彼もジャポニズムの影響を受けた一人でもあるようですね、知らなかった…。

彼は、1885年ナンシー水利森林学校に留学していたの農商務省官僚・高島得三と交流を持つようになります。彼は美術に造詣の深い人物としても知られており、水墨画が得意で北海という画号を持っていたとのこと。滞在中に400点ほど水墨画を描いた高島の作品をガレも2点譲り受けたようであります。

Galleは、そこで日本の文物や植物などの知識を得たのでしょうね。この影響を受けてでしょうが、後のガレの作品にも水墨画のようなぼかし表現を用いたものが見られます。

 

また、園芸愛好家、植物学者としても優れていたガレは、単なる植物や昆虫をモチーフとした表現というところに止まらず生命の躍動を伝える表現を目指します。

こうした自然に対するこうしたアプローチが、高島氏から影響を受けたジャポニスムとうまく影響しあい、のちのGalleの作品のイメージを決定づけたのでしょうか。

 

そんな高島北海との出会いによって「ナンシーに生まれた日本人」と評されるほどにもなったGalee ですが、ジャポニズムが彼のガラスへの表現にとてもあっていたのでしょう。その後もジャポニズム要素のある叙情豊かな型や文様を用い過去のガラス製品の概念を覆し、美的表現の手段として様々な作品の製造します。

 

知らなかったですね、Galleがそんなにも日本好きだったとは意外でした。

 

ですが、それによってガラスは単なる生活工芸品から美術の領域にまで引き上げられ、Galleが当時の美術界をゆるがしたジャポニズムの先導者となったとすると、我々日本人もどことなく花が高い気がいたしますよね。

 

どおりで、日本のお宅にも日本のものとも馴染むのはその影響のせいだったのか…。と、今頃納得する大人になったスタッフYでありました。

Since I have been tweeting a lot recently about the season for going out, I thought I should calm down a bit here, so I was thinking about what to tweet from this morning.

 

As I did so, this little vase from Galle appealed to me.

My admiration for Galle seems to me to be a very high hurdle. I don’t know if it is Galle or Galle style, but in the parlor of a house called a mansion, there is a disc-shaped lamp on the display shelf, and the dim light coming out of the glass pattern left an impression on my child staff Y, who was impressed by such a beautiful thing. The child staff member Y was impressed by the dim light coming out of the glass pattern.

 

The dimness of the glass was like an adult image to Staff Y, who had grown up in a commoner’s class, and the impression of a noble presence wafting from the glass made him think that this was a world he would never be able to reach. It seems to have given the impression of a high hurdle to overcome.

 

I used to think that Galle was a very difficult thing to get into, but now that I am an adult, I thought it would be nice to get to know Galle, so I was looking at Galle’s vases today.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Emile Galle” 1846-1904 (born in Nancy, France).

Actually, he is well known as a botanist and entomologist.

 

Galle became in charge of the art department of his father’s pottery and glass company, which he later inherited. Plants and insects, which were his passion, became Galle’s main subjects, and in every work he expressed his unique world view with his refined sensitivity and imagination.

 

His achievements in these works are also outstanding. In 1878, he exhibited moonlight-colored glass and ceramics at the Paris Exposition Universelle, which were colored pale blue by cobalt oxide, a technique he had developed himself, and received the Bronze Prize.

In 1884, he was awarded a gold medal at the “Stone, Wood, Clay, and Glass” exhibition organized by the Central Federation of Decorative Arts, where he exhibited works.

 

 

 

Galle was also one of the influences of Japonism, which I did not know…

In 1885, he came into contact with Tokuzo Takashima, a bureaucrat of the Ministry of Agriculture and Commerce, who was studying at the Nancy School of Forestry and Water Conservation. He was known as a man with a deep knowledge of art, and was good at ink painting and had the painting name Hokkai. During his stay in Japan, Takashima painted about 400 ink and wash drawings, and Galle apparently received two of his works.

Galle must have gained knowledge of Japanese culture and plants there. Perhaps influenced by this, some of Galle’s later works also use blurred expressions similar to those of Suiboku-ga (ink painting).

 

Galle, who also excelled as a horticultural enthusiast and botanist, aimed to convey the vibrancy of life, rather than simply using plants and insects as motifs.

This approach to nature may well have been influenced by Takashima’s Japonisme, and may well have determined the image of Galle’s later works.

 

It was this encounter with Takashima Hokkai that led to Galee’s reputation as a “Japanese born in Nancy,” and Japonism must have been a perfect match for his glass. He continued to produce a wide variety of glassware as a means of aesthetic expression, overturning past concepts of glassware by using lyrical molds and patterns with Japonist elements.

 

I had no idea that Galle loved Japan so much.

 

However, if we think that glass was elevated from a mere daily craft to the realm of fine art, and Galle was a leader of Japonism that shook the art world of the time, we Japanese must feel that flowers are somewhat high in the sky.

 

It is no wonder that Japanese people are so familiar with Japanese homes and Japanese things because of his influence. I am now an adult and have come to understand this.
