昨夜はテニスの試合のTV観戦で夜更かしをし、朝は蝉の声で起こされ寝不足気味です。

不安定な天候も落ち着き、しばらく晴れる日が続くようですね。

雨の日は不便さを除けばそれほど嫌いではなく、雨上がりの空は表情が豊かで楽しみでもあります。

以前、突然目の前に現れたダブルレインボー。日本語では「二重虹（ふたえ虹）」と呼ぶそうです。

呆然と眺めているうちに消えそうになったので慌てて写真に収めました。

虹について改めて調べてみました。

太陽の光は複数の色が混ざってできており、光が雨粒に入ると屈折します。

色によって曲がる角度が違うためそれぞれの色が分散し、いわゆる七色に見えます。

虹は外側が赤で内側が紫と見え方が決まっています。

二重虹は上にある虹の色の並びが下の虹とは逆になっていますね。下が主虹、上が副虹と呼ばれるそうです。主虹は雨粒の中で１回だけ反射し、副虹は２回反射して出てくるので少し淡い色になります。

二重虹ができるには水滴が十分であること、太陽の光が強いことなど様々な条件が重なる必要があるので出会える確率は低くなるとのこと。私も次にいつ巡り合えるか分かりません。

ところで虹という漢字ですが、なぜ虫偏なのでしょうか？

諸説あるそうですが、古代中国では大蛇が天に昇って龍になると考えられており、虹は龍になる大蛇が天空を貫く時に空に作られたものと想像されていたため、蛇を表す虫偏となっている。

さらに、「貫く」とか「天と地をつなぐ」などを意味する「工」の字で「虹」という漢字ができたとか。

ちなみに古代中国人にとって虹は不吉なものの象徴で、虹が出ると良くないことが起こると信じていたようです。現代とはイメージが違いますね。

天文学や科学が発展していなかった古代の人々にとっては、自然に湧き出る畏敬の念かもしれません。

日本でも１２００年頃までは虹は生物だと認識されていたとか。今考えるとかなり非合理的ですが、空を駆ける七色の生物を見ていたとしたら、昔の人の想像力のすごさに驚きます。

夕焼けも好きでよく撮るのですが、真っ赤な雲に覆われる空は吸い込まれそうで怖くもあります。

昼間の光に比べて夕日は斜めに大気の中を通って届きます。

この長い経路の中で波長の短い青い色は散乱し、私たちの目に入る頃にはほとんど消失し、残った波長の長い赤い光だけが届くため赤い空となります。

そのため上の方はまだ青色が残っていたりして、なんとも幻想的な景色になります。

日が沈み夜が訪れるまでの薄暗いわずかな時間は日本人の心を捉えたようで、様々な言葉が生まれました。

夕暮れ、夕闇、薄暮、黄昏時、宵の口、逢魔が時…。

日本語の表現は豊かですね。

Last night I stayed up late watching a tennis match on TV, and in the morning I was woken up by the sound of cicadas, making me sleep deprived.

The unstable weather seems to have calmed down and sunny days will continue for a while.

Apart from the inconvenience, I don’t dislike rainy days so much, and I also look forward to the expressive skies after the rain.

A double rainbow suddenly appeared in front of me once. In Japanese, it is called a “double rainbow.

As I gazed at it in amazement, it seemed to disappear, so I hurriedly took a picture of it.

I looked up rainbows again.

Sunlight is made up of multiple colors, and when the light enters raindrops, it is refracted.

Since the angle of bending is different for each color, each color is dispersed and appears as the so-called seven colors.

A rainbow has a specific way of looking, with red on the outside and purple on the inside.

In a double rainbow, the colors of the upper rainbow are arranged in the opposite order of the lower rainbow. The lower rainbow is called the main rainbow and the upper rainbow is called the secondary rainbow.

The main rainbow reflects only once in the raindrops, while the secondary rainbow reflects twice and comes out a little lighter in color.

The probability of encountering a double rainbow is low because it requires a combination of various conditions, such as sufficient water droplets and strong sunlight. I do not know when I will be able to see a rainbow again.

By the way, why does the Chinese character for rainbow have an “insect” side?

There are various theories, but in ancient China, it was believed that a serpent ascended to the sky to become a dragon, and the rainbow was imagined to be created in the sky when the serpent, which would become a dragon, pierced the sky.

Furthermore, the Chinese character “ku,” which means “to pierce” or “to connect heaven and earth,” was used to create the Chinese character “rainbow.

Incidentally, for the ancient Chinese, the rainbow was a symbol of bad luck, and they believed that bad things would happen when a rainbow appeared.

The image is different from that of today.

For people in ancient times, when astronomy and science had not yet developed, rainbows may have been a natural awe-inspiring sight.

Even in Japan, rainbows were recognized as living things until around 1200. It seems quite irrational when I think about it now, but I am amazed at the imagination of people in ancient times if they saw seven-colored creatures running in the sky.

I often take pictures of sunsets, but the sky covered with bright red clouds is scary, as if I might be sucked into it.

Compared to daylight, sunset light reaches us through the atmosphere at an angle.

In this long path, blue light with short wavelengths is scattered and almost disappears by the time it reaches our eyes, leaving only red light with long wavelengths to reach us, resulting in a red sky.

This is why there is still some blue color in the sky above, creating a fantastic view.

The dim, brief time between sunset and the arrival of night seems to have captured the hearts of the Japanese people, giving rise to a variety of words.

Dusk, dusk, twilight, twilight hour, evening, and oumagatoki… The Japanese language is rich in expressions.

みなさまこんにちは、スタッフYでございます。

気がつくと、7月は半分過ぎておりましたね。

ぼーっと過ごしていたわけではないのですが、夏本番にむけてのこの時期お正月の前くらい毎年落ち着かないのと時間が少しだけ早く過ぎるような気がいたします。ですがこの時期は嫌いではない。いろいろなことが少し逸る気持ちを抑え、夏に向いている空気感とその移り変わりに勢いがあるからでしょうか。

そういえば朝からセミの鳴き声が聞こえているのに気が付いたり、学期末の三者面談後の真っ黒に焼けた男子中学生とその母が一緒に帰るその微妙な距離にちょっと笑えたり、自分、毎年夏用のバックを探しているなと気づいたり、季節の移り変わりを見つけることはちょっと楽しい。ここ最近でもこれだけ気づいてしまいました。

ですが、今年の夏も各所で多発しているゲリラ豪雨やその災害のニュースに心を痛める季節でもあるな…などと思い巡らしながら今朝も通勤していたところ、ご近所の城山八幡宮の大茅輪くぐりの横断幕が目に入りました。

ここにも大切な季節の移り変わりを発見しましたね、今年も始まるようです。

毎年ここ城山八幡宮で行われている夏の神事、茅輪神事。

夏になると、こちらの神社のみならず各所の神社で執り行われる茅輪神事ですが、いつも引き込まれるようにくぐらねば！と勢いよくくぐってはおりますが、先日はやってしまいましたよ笑。別の神社ですが、周る方向を間違えたことに気が付き、御護りは半減するのかな…などと苦笑いしながらもう一度くぐり直してまいりました。私だけでしょう、こんな恥ずかしいことをやっているのは。

そんな茅輪神事は、「輪くぐり」・「茅の輪くぐり」とも呼ばれおりまして、スサノヲノ命の故事に習い、祓芦（はらえよし）を持って茅の輪をくぐり、茅（ち・ちがや）の働きによって無病息災・諸難消除・疫病退散・健康長寿を御護り戴く夏の神事であるのですが、詳しくは知らなかったのですが、管貫とも呼ばれ、祓芦は「あし」を「よし」と云い替えて「よき事」を招く「換言」の一種であり、茅は芦・管・ススキ等の総称でもあるようですね。

故事によりますと、神代、武塔神（スサノヲノ命）が旅の途中、土民の兄弟である蘇民将来と巨旦将来の二人に宿を求めたところ、裕福な弟の巨旦将来は邪険に断ったが、貧しい兄の蘇民将来は快くお泊めし親切にもてなした際に、スサノヲノ命は「蘇民将来の子孫に、腰に茅の輪をつけておれば疫病を防げるであろう」と教えます。その後大疫病が起こったのですが、蘇民将来の村のみはその茅の輪のおかげで、難を逃れたことが茅輪神事・祓芦の起源になっているようでして、城山八幡宮の大茅輪神事でも、もちろんこの祓芦をうけることができます。

（明日の神事の準備中でしたので、本日はくぐることはできませんでした。）

その祓芦をひとりひとり１本づつ持ち、祓芦で身を清めながら輪をくぐり、その祓芦・祓串とも立冬の頃まで家の中で祀りますが、独り占めにすれば福は必ず消え去り、分け与えれば福は必ず増えるとのことですので、あくまでも一人１本ずつですので欲張ってはいけないようですね。

また、城山八幡宮ではこの大茅輪神事と共に、小児の虫封じ『赤丸神事』、災厄除け・息災守護の『息災鈴祓』、提灯奉納の『献燈行事』等々、三日間にわたり夏の夜祭りを斎行しており、境内は献燈の灯りが浮かび上がり、山の手に夏を呼ぶ祭りとして毎年本当に多くの参拝で賑わいます。

夏の夜の涼をたずねて、浴衣掛けでみんなが「夏がきた！。」と楽しめるお祭ですので、是非城山界隈遊びにいらしてください。

Before I know it, half of July has passed.
It’s not that I’ve been spending the month in a daze, but it seems like every year I feel as restless as I do before New Year’s, and time seems to pass a little bit faster during this time of year as we head into the summer season. But I don’t dislike this time of year, perhaps it is because I can suppress my feelings of being a little distracted by various things, and there is a sense of momentum in the air as we move toward summer and its transition.

I notice the sound of cicadas chirping in the morning, I laugh at the subtle distance between the blackened junior high school boys and their mothers as they walk home together after the end-of-term parent-teacher conference, I realize that every year I look for my summer bag, and I enjoy finding the change in the seasons. I have noticed this much recently.

However, as I was commuting to work this morning, I noticed the banner of the “Great Chigurin Festival” at Shiroyama Hachimangu Shrine in my neighborhood, as I was thinking about the many guerrilla downpours that have been occurring in various places this summer, and how heartbreaking the news of such disasters is.

I found another important seasonal change here, and it looks like it will start again this year.
The thatch-ringing ritual is a summer ritual held here at Shiroyama Hachimangu Shrine every year.

The thatched-rope ritual is held not only at this shrine but also at other shrines in summer, and I always have to go through it as if I am being pulled in! I always go through it with great vigor, but the other day I did it, lol. I realized that I went in the wrong direction and had to go through the shrine again with a wry smile on my face, wondering if the blessing would be less than half. I must be the only one who does such embarrassing things.

The thatched-rope ritual, also called “ring-kuguri” or “thatch-rope-kuguri,” is a summer ritual to pray for good health and long life, to get rid of various misfortunes, to get rid of epidemics, and to be protected by the work of thatch, according to the legend of Susanowo-no-mikoto. I did not know the details, but it is also called “Kan-nuki,” and purification of “ashi” is a kind of “kanten,” which means to change “ashi” to “good” and invite “good things,” and “thatch” is a general term for ashi, tube, awn, etc. According to the legend, the gods are said to be the ancestors of the gods.

According to the legend, during the Kami period, the god Muto (Susanowo-no-mikoto) asked the two brothers, Somin-mushorai and Giantan-mushorai, to lodge with him on his journey. If you put a ring of thatch around your waist, you will be able to prevent a plague from spreading. The origin of the thatched-rope ritual and the purification of ashes is said to be the fact that the villagers escaped the plague thanks to the thatched-rope.

Each person is supposed to take one of these purifying ashes with him or her, and go through the purification procession while purifying himself or herself with the purifying ashi, and both the purifying ashi and the purifying stick are enshrined in the house until around the time of the first winter.

In addition to the “Oo Kayawa Ritual,” Shiroyama Hachimangu Shrine holds a three-day summer night festival that includes the “Akamaru Ritual” to seal away insects from children, the “Exorcism Bell” to ward off bad luck and protect people from misfortune, and the “Offering Lantern Event” to dedicate lanterns.
The festival is a place where everyone can enjoy the cool of a summer night and think, “Summer has come! Please come and visit us in the Shiroyama area.

みなさまこんにちは、スタッフYでございます。

連日の集中豪雨により毎日どこかしらで豪雨が発生し被害が出ていることに、日本の気候が完全にかわってきたな。と。最近心配になっておりますが皆さまの地域はいかがでしょうか。こちら名古屋でも夕刻に急な突風と豪雨が襲ってきまして、昨日もびっくり致しました。

そして、九州地方などでの集中豪雨で大変な被害をあわれました方々へまずはお見舞い申し上げます。

さて、いよいよですね。

エンゼルス・大谷翔平投手（２９）が7月１２日(水)（現地１１日）、日本時間午前９時（現地時間午後８時）にマリナーズの本拠地・シアトル、T-モバイルパークでにて行われるオールスターゲームのスタメンに「２番・指名打者」で出場がきまりました！。また、千賀滉大投手も選出されておりますね。

ア・リーグの指揮を執るアストロズ・ベイカー監督らが出席した会見の中でも発表されましたが、大谷はオールスターの恒例行事となっている各選手の個別取材（すごい報道陣でしたね。）にて約３０分間日米メディアに対応し、翌日に迫ったオールスターへの意気込みを問われると「ホームランを打ったことがないので、まずは打ってみたい。」と決意を口にしておりまして、これは期待してしまいます。

「よりアグレッシブに。フォアボールをとっても…、とってもというか、フォアボールをとるよりは、どんどんスイングした方がみんな楽しいんじゃないかなと思うので、積極的にスイングはしたいなと思っています」なんて発言もしておりますから、ホームランの期待しかないでしょ！と、思わず突っ込みたくもなります。

さらには、自身初となるオールスターＭＶＰへも「今回はバッターとして打席だけなので、打席でしっかり自分のスイングをしっかり出来れば、ホームランなりが出れば十分にとれるものなんじゃないかなとは思います」と意欲を示し、こちらも申し訳ありませんが勝手ながら期待をしてしまっている次第。

そんなわけで、明日は朝からの放映ですのでいろいろ朝の予定を練り始めたりと、まあまあ観戦基準で動いている自分に最近気が付いたのですが。

どうも自分、野球含めスポーツ観戦が最近好きらしい。まあまあ長く生きているのですが、昔はそんな野球すら興味がなくスポーツ観戦なんて、「いやいや、遠慮しときますよ。」と、わりとスルーする人間だったのですが、年月とはなんといいましょうか、人間の趣味やキャラすら変えてしまう魔法の時間のようでして。自分のことなながらまあまあ驚いております。

で、少し考えたのですが、年月のせいじゃなくても実は本当はやってみたかったんじゃないか、とも思えてきたりもしました。

年月を重ねると、変なこだわりも生まれますが、変な解放感も生まれ、時代の助けもあり世代や性別などいろいろな制限やこだわりを超えて自由に「実はこれ好きだったんじゃないか？」を試すことができる気が。私もこれにちゃっかり乗っかりスポーツ観戦に限らずいろいろ試しておりますが、このところスポーツ観戦だけにとどままらず、いろいろ興味のリミッターがはずれつつあります。

そんなわけで明日のスケジュールなどをも考えたり、ちょっとだけ騒がしい本日の自分。

しかし、いつもそんな一個人の「実はこれ好きだったんじゃないか？」のきっかけや、たくさん人の夢や期待をも運んできてくれるオオタニサンに、いつもは「すごい…！。」としかTVの前を届けられないのですが、明日こそはTVの前で、「晴れの舞台を思いっきり楽しんで！。」と、声を届けたいものです。

ちなみに、画像は悪いですが昨日家族より届いた花巻の画像。スター選手を多く輩出するこの小さな街におどろいたとのことです。

I would also like to express my deepest sympathies to those who have suffered great damage from the torrential rains in the Kyushu area and elsewhere in Japan.

Shohei Ohtani, 29, of the Angels, has been selected as the No. 2 designated hitter for the All-Star Game to be held at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, home of the Mariners, on July 12 (Wednesday) at 9:00 a.m. Japan time (8:00 p.m. local time). Pitcher Kohdai Senga has also been selected.

I feel like I can freely try out “I think I actually like this. I have been taking advantage of this, and have been experimenting with various things, not limited to watching sports, and recently, my interest has been shifting from watching sports to other things.

So I am a little bit fussy today, thinking about tomorrow’s schedule and so on.

However, I am always amazed at how much I love the way that Otani-san brings me the opportunity to do something that I would never have thought I could do otherwise. I usually can only say “wow…!” in front of the TV, but tomorrow is the day I will be in front of the TV, and I will be able to see the newest projects and the newest projects of the future. But tomorrow is the day I want to be in front of the TV and say, “Enjoy the big day to the fullest! I wish I could be in front of the TV tomorrow, and say, “Enjoy the big day as much as you can!

湿気の多い日が続きますね。

皆さまは気晴らしになるような趣味などはお持ちでしょうか。

私は定期的に何かに没頭したくなる時があり、かぎ針や刺し子など同じ動作を繰り返すものが性に合っているようで、忘れたころに道具を引っ張り出してきます。

制作意欲があるわけではなく、ひたすら手を動かすことで無心になり、頭を空っぽにします。

他の用事が手につかなくなりますが…。

数年前に青森県つがるの「こぎん刺し」を習う機会がありました。

先生の素晴らしい作品です。

そして恥ずかしながら自作のつたないコースターです。

興味本位で始めたこぎん刺しですが、今回その歴史について調べてみました。

青森県津軽の「こぎん刺し」は青森県南部乗「菱刺し」、山形県庄内の「庄内刺し子」と並び日本の三大刺し子と呼ばれています。

北国の津軽では綿の栽培が困難なため一般に使用される衣服の多くは麻布でできていました。

１７２４年に出された「農家倹約分限令」により農民は仕事着はもちろんのこと、被り物、肌着、帯にいたるまで細かく規制されていました。

木綿の着用を許されなかった農民は麻布を重ねて麻糸で刺した着物を普段着としていました。

農作業では重い籠を背負うので、擦り切れやすい肩や背中を糸で刺すことにより摩耗を防ぎました。

また糸を密に刺すことで保温効果も高めていました。

津軽こぎん刺しは農民が家族の健康を守るために厳しい制約の中で補強と保温を目的に作り出された暮らしの知恵でした。

明治に入ると木綿の着用が解禁になります。木綿糸が手に入りやすくなり、こぎん刺しも藍色の麻布に白い木綿糸で刺されるようになっていきます。

農家の女たちの美意識と工夫で多くの模様が生み出され、他の刺し手と美しさを競い合うようになり、また娘たちは幼少から刺す練習をし、晴れ着用として嫁入り支度には欠かせないものとなりました。

江戸後期に花開いたこぎん刺しですが、明治維新を経て木綿が流通するようになると、人々は暖かな木綿素材を好むようになり、麻を素材とした技法は一時途絶えました。

昭和に入ると、柳宗悦（やなぎむねよし）らによる民芸運動により伝統工芸品として注目を浴びるようになりました。

宗悦はつがるこぎん刺しの模様に注目し民家や古道具屋で昔のこぎん着物を収集し次のように絶賛しました。

「名もない津軽の女たちよ、よくこれほどのものを遺してくれた。・・・虐げられた禁制のなかで是程の美しいものを産んでくれた」

ただ糸を刺すことは長い冬の間の仕事のひとつでもあり、また娯楽のひとつでもあったようです。

厳しい生活の中でもものを作る喜びを感じ、誰も刺せないような模様を刺せることが当時の若い娘の願いでもあり、途絶えた後もどうしても止めることができない女性もいたようです。

現在も独特な幾何学模様「モドコ」や色とりどりの糸や布を用いて、無数のバリエーションが日々生み出されています。

歴史を知ると、また糸を刺す感覚も違ってきそうです。

I have times when I want to devote myself to something regularly, and crocheting, stitching, and other things that require repetition of the same actions seem to suit my nature, and I pull out my tools when I forget about them.

I don’t have a strong desire to create, but I just move my hands around and get lost in it, emptying my mind.

I am not able to do anything else, though.

A few years ago, I had a chance to learn “Kogin Sashimi” from Tsugaru, Aomori Prefecture.

It is a wonderful work of the teacher.

And I am ashamed to say that it is a clumsy coaster of my own making.

I started to learn Kogin Sashimi just out of curiosity, but this time I looked into its history.

Kogin stitch” in Tsugaru, Aomori Prefecture, is called one of the three major types of sashiko in Japan, along with “Hishi stitch” in Nanbu, Aomori Prefecture, and “Shonai stitch” in Shonai, Yamagata Prefecture.

In the northern region of Tsugaru, where cotton is difficult to grow, most of the clothing used by the general public was made of hemp cloth.

In 1724, the “Farmer’s Thrift Restriction Ordinance” regulated not only work clothes but also coverings, undergarments, and even sashes.

Farmers who were not allowed to wear cotton wore a linen kimono, which was made by layering linen cloth and stitching it with hemp thread, as their daily wear.

Since farmers carried heavy baskets on their backs, they prevented abrasion by stabbing their shoulders and backs with threads, which were prone to fraying.

The dense stitching of the threads also helped to keep the wearer warm.

Tsugaru Kogin Sashimi was a way of life created by farmers to protect the health of their families by reinforcing and keeping them warm under severe restrictions.

In the Meiji era (1868-1912), the ban on the wearing of cotton was lifted. Cotton thread became more readily available, and kogin stitching began to be done with white cotton thread on indigo-colored linen.

The women of the farming households created many patterns with their aesthetic sense and ingenuity, and began to compete with other stitchers in terms of beauty.

Kogin-sashi flourished in the late Edo period (1603-1868), but after the Meiji Restoration (1868-1912), when cotton came into circulation, people preferred the warmth of cotton, and the technique using hemp temporarily died out.

In the Showa period (1926-1989), hemp became the focus of attention as a traditional craft due to the folk craft movement led by Yanagi Muneyoshi and others.

Muneyoshi Yanagi paid attention to the patterns of Tsugaru kogin stitching and collected old kogin kimonos from private homes and antique shops, praising it as follows

Stitching thread was both work and recreation during the long winter months.

Even today, countless variations are created daily using unique geometric “modoko” patterns and colorful threads and fabrics.

皆さまこんにちは。スタッフHでございます。

梅雨も明けて蒸し暑くなりそうな来週末、東京へ行く予定があり準備をしていると、そういえば昨年の夏も訪れたことを思い出し、写真を見返しました。

それまで東京は何度か訪れていましたが、観光の定番ともいえる浅草やスカイツリーにはご縁がなく、昨年初めて足を伸ばしてみました。

既に日が暮れていて、スカイツリーは見事にライティングされていました。

私、高い所から下を見るのは平気なのですが、大きくて高いものを下から見上げるのが苦手で、恐怖すら感じます。

スカイツリーがここまで大きくて高いとは思っていませんでした。

この日は少し霞がかかっていたので更に幻想的でした。

上を見ると怖くて見続けることができず、必死でシャッターだけ押して写真で楽しみました。

あとで知ったのですが、この日はアイドルグループ「NijiU」のデビュー１周年をお祝いしたライティングだったようで、９人のメンバーカラーで彩られていたようです。

その他スカイツリーではオリンピックやスポーツ大会など様々な行事に合わせて特別ライティングが行われます。

本日はディズニー創立１００周年を記念したイベントに伴い、東京スカイツリーもディズニーとピクサーのキャラクターたちをイメージした色にライティングされています。

キャラクターはミッキーマウス、ミニーマウス、白雪姫、アリエル、プーさん、ウッディ、バズ・ライトイヤーの７種類。それぞれのキャラクターをイメージしたライティングが約２分ずつ順番に点灯します。

来週末でディズニーのライティングは終了するそうです。

隅田川から見る景色が素敵で、すっかりスカイツリーファンになってしまいました。

しばらくすると夜の浅草寺に到着。

昼間の賑わいが嘘のように静かな境内です。

浅草寺について知識がなかったので調べてみました。

浅草寺は約１４００年の歴史を持つ東京都内最古の寺院です。その始まりは推古天皇の時代に遡ります。

雷門は浅草寺の総門。「雷門」というのは通称で、正式名称は「風雷神門」というそうです。

雷門ができたのは平安時代の９４２年に建立されました。

現在の地に門が移転してきたのは鎌倉時代のこと。門が移築された際、風神像と雷神像が奉安され、「風雷神門」の名がつけらたとのこと。

風神・雷神像は浅草寺の護法善神で、水害や火災から浅草寺を守ると言われています。

幕末の大火で頭部のみ残されましたが１８７４年に身体が修復されました。

風神雷神像も魅力的ですが、二天門で睨みをきかせる持国天像もなかなかで、夜に見るとかなりの迫力です。

翌朝、窓からスカイツリーと浅草寺の五重塔が並んで見えました。

それぞれ凛々しく美しい立ち姿でした。

As I was preparing for my trip to Tokyo next weekend, which will be hot and humid after the rainy season, I remembered that I visited Tokyo last summer, and I looked back at my photos.

I had been to Tokyo several times before, but I had never been to Asakusa or the Sky Tree, which are the standard tourist attractions, and last year was my first visit.

It was already dark and the Sky Tree was beautifully lit.I am not afraid of looking down from high places, but I am not good at looking up at big and tall things from below.

I had not expected the Sky Tree to be so big and tall.

It was a little hazy that day, so it was even more fantastic.

I was too scared to continue looking up, so I desperately just pressed the shutter button and enjoyed taking pictures.

I found out later that the lighting was to celebrate the first anniversary of the debut of the idol group “NijiU,” and the tree was decorated in the colors of the nine members.

The Skytree is also used for special lighting for various events, such as the Olympics and sporting events.

Today, in conjunction with events celebrating Disney’s 100th anniversary, the Tokyo Skytree is also lit in colors inspired by Disney and Pixar characters.

The seven characters are Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Snow White, Ariel, Pooh, Woody, and Buzz Lightyear. Each character-inspired lighting will be turned on in turn for approximately two minutes each.

The Disney lighting will end at the end of next week.

The view from the Sumida River is wonderful and I have become a Sky Tree fan.

After a while, we arrived at Sensoji Temple at night.

The temple grounds are quiet, as if the daytime bustle was a lie.

Since I had no knowledge about Sensoji Temple, I did some research.

Senso-ji Temple is the oldest temple in Tokyo with a history of about 1,400 years. Its beginnings date back to the reign of Emperor Suiko.

Kaminarimon is the main gate of Sensoji Temple. Kaminarimon” is a common name, and its official name is “Kaminarimon (Gate of the Wind and Thunder Gods).

The Kaminarimon was built in 942 during the Heian period.

It was during the Kamakura period (1185-1333) that the gate was moved to its current location. When the gate was moved, statues of the Wind God and Thunder God were enshrined, giving the gate its name, “Wind and Thunder God Gate.

The statues of the Wind and Thunder Gods are said to protect Senso-ji from floods and fires.

Only the head was left standing after the great fire at the end of the Edo period (1603-1868), but the body was restored in 1874.

The statues of the Wind and Thunder Gods are fascinating, but the statue of Jikuten staring out from the Nitenmon Gate is also quite impressive, especially at night.The next morning, I saw the Sky Tree and the five-story pagoda of Sensoji Temple side by side from my window.

They each stood dignified and beautifully.

このところの全国天気予報をみておりましても、愛知県だけは毎日本当に気温が高く、本日も裏切らずに朝から容赦ない灼熱の太陽であります。熱中症警戒も出ておりますので、たぶんこれは35度は超える予感がいたしますが、朝からほんとうに暑い。

7月にはいり、いよいよ夏本番に移ってきたなと実感しているのですが、そんな暑さを憂いている場合ではありません。この暑さを楽しむべく気持ちを変えて乗り切らねば…と思い、先日の勝手に夏のドリンクに引き続き、夏の予定について意識を向けることに致しました。そんなわけで、本日は行ってみたい愛知の夏祭りについて少し予習をしてみました。

明日は七夕なのですが、実は、ここ愛知では七夕まつりがたくさん開催されているようであります。愛知県の有名な七夕まつりですと、

安城七夕まつり

（開催期間：2023年8月4(金)～6日(日)）

「願いごと、日本一。」をテーマに開催する伝統ある七夕まつりを掲げて、人々の目を楽しませる竹飾りや皆さんの願いが書かれた無数の願いごと短冊、キャンドルの灯りが幻想的な安城七夕神社など七夕を楽しむところが各所にたくさんあるようです。

おりもの感謝祭一宮七夕まつり

（開催期間：2023年7月27日(木)～30日(日)）

織物の神様を祀っている真清田神社を中心に行われ、市民の夏の最大のイベントになっています。最大の特長は、沿道に飾られる華やかな七夕飾り。そして御衣奉献大行列や各種イベントまた盆踊り大会など約100万人もの人々が訪れる、日本でも指折りの豪華な七夕イベントとして知られております。

やはり開催は旧暦や夏休みを加味して7月後半から8月初旬ですが、他にも開催されている七夕まつりもありますし、まだ予定を立てる時間はありそうですね。

それから、七夕まつりではないのですがもう一つ気になっておりますお祭りがありまして。

愛知県の無形民俗文化財に指定されております

「万燈祭(まんどまつり)」

（開催時期：2023年7月29日(土)、30日(日)）

こちらのお祭りは刈谷市銀座にある秋葉社の祭礼。火難防除・町内安全を祈願する祭りでして「天下の奇祭」と呼ばれている刈谷市を代表する夏祭りであります。

「万燈(まんど)」と呼ばれる高さ約5m、幅約3m、重さ約60kgの竹と和紙で作られた張子人形（色鮮やかに彩色し多くは歌舞伎絵や武者をかたどったもの）を一人で担ぎ、笛や太鼓のお囃子に合わせて踊るのですが、例年2日間合わせて10万人以上の観客が来場。そして夏祭りには絶対欠かせない露店も多数出店しており、大変な賑わいのようです。

一日目は「新楽」とよばれる氏子町の7町に加え、市内の企業や地区の万燈も参加し盛大に行われ、10数基の大万燈と多数の子ども万燈が市内を踊り練り歩きます。そして、二日目「本楽」では氏子7町の万燈が秋葉社の境内で舞を奉納し祭りのクライマックスを迎えます。画像などを拝見しましたところ、ひとりで担げる（とはいえ60キロもある）青森のねぶたのようなイメージでしょうか。「天下の奇祭」とだけあって、と言いますか夕闇にともる万燈が大変綺麗でしたので、大変気になっております。

とまあ、少しではありますが愛知の有名な夏お祭りをご紹介いたしました。

今年は例年通りの開催が復活した夏祭りも多いようですので、お祭りに参加される方も多いとは思われますが、ここ愛知、暑いのは気温だけではありません。

お祭り熱も暑いですので、他県の皆さまいろいろ体感をしに是非一度愛知に訪れてみてくださいませ。

The recent weather forecast for the whole country shows that the temperature is really high in Aichi Prefecture every day, and today, the sun has been scorching hot from the morning. I have a feeling that the temperature will probably exceed 35 degrees Celsius, as heat stroke warnings have been issued, but it is really hot from the morning.

It is really hot from the morning. I feel that we have entered the summer season in July, but this is not the time to be depressed about the heat. I have decided to focus on my summer plans, following on from my recent post about summer drinks. So today, I did a little preliminary study on summer festivals in Aichi that I would like to visit.

Tomorrow is Tanabata, and in fact, there are many Tanabata festivals being held here in Aichi. Here are some of the famous Tanabata festivals in Aichi Prefecture,

Anjo Tanabata Festival (August 4 (Fri.) to 6 (Sun.), 2023)

The festival is held under the theme of “Best Wishes in Japan. There are many places to enjoy the Tanabata Festival, such as the Anjo Tanabata Shrine with its fantastic candlelight, bamboo decorations and countless strips of paper with your wishes written on them, which will delight your eyes.

Orimono Thanksgiving Ichinomiya Tanabata Festival (July 27 (Thursday) to 30 (Sunday), 2023)

Held mainly at Mashioda Shrine, which is dedicated to the god of textiles, this festival has become the biggest summer event for the citizens. The most distinctive feature of the festival is the gorgeous Tanabata (Star Festival) decorations along the streets. The Tanabata Festival is known as one of the most gorgeous Tanabata events in Japan, attracting about one million people, including a procession of people in procession, various events, and a Bon Odori dance festival.

The festival is held from late July to early August, taking into account the lunar calendar and summer vacation, but there are other Tanabata festivals being held in Japan, so there is still time to make plans.

There is one more festival that I am interested in, though it is not a Tanabata festival.

It is designated as an intangible folk cultural asset by Aichi Prefecture.

Manto Festival” (July 29 (Sat.) and 30 (Sun.), 2023)

This festival is held at Akiba Shrine in Ginza, Kariya City. This festival is held to pray for fire prevention and town safety, and is called “the strangest festival in the world” and is a representative summer festival of Kariya City.

The “Manto” is a 5-meter high, 3-meter wide, and 60-kilogram papier-mâché doll made of bamboo and Japanese paper (often in the shape of Kabuki paintings or warriors), which is carried by one person and danced to the accompaniment of flutes and drums. The festival is usually attended by more than 100,000 people over the two days, and the many stalls that are an absolute must for any summer festival make it a very lively event.

On the first day, in addition to the seven Ujiko towns called “Shingaku,” businesses and districts in the city participate in the grand event, with more than a dozen large Manto lanterns and many children’s Manto lanterns dancing and parading through the city. On the second day, the festival climaxes with the “Hongaku”, in which Manto dancers from the seven Ujiko towns dedicate their dances in the precincts of Akiyosha Shrine. From the pictures I have seen, it looks like Aomori’s Nebuta, which can be carried by one person (although it weighs 60 kilograms). I am very interested in this festival because it is called “the strangest festival in the world,” and the manto lanterns that light up in the darkness of the evening are very beautiful.

Well, I have introduced some of the famous summer festivals in Aichi Prefecture.

This year, many summer festivals have returned to their usual schedule, so many of you may be attending festivals, but it is not only the temperature that is hot here in Aichi. 7月に入り全国各地でゲリラ豪雨のような雨が各所で発生し、洪水氾濫など心配は尽きないこの季節、もう暑さと湿気とでいろいろコンディションが整わない方も多いのではないでしょうか。

各言うわたくしもその一人。体調はなんとかキープできているのですが、この暑さと湿気でメイクは早々に崩れ、しかもこの湿気のおかげで髪がすごいことになっておりまして、そちらのコンディションが史上最悪でありました。

さっき見た鏡に映る自分にげんなりして思わず目をそらせてしまいましたね。「もうこのくらいでいいだろう梅雨。」と、少々うんざりしております。

そんな絶不調のこの季節に、すこしでも快適に過ごせるドリンクをを毎年なにかしら探していることは以前からお伝えしておりますが、今年も私の夏のドリンクが見つかりました。

今年は、なんと冷たい台湾茶に勝手に決定。

その台湾茶に決定した様子をお伝えいたしますが、少しでも爽やかな気分が届くとよいのですが…。

それは以前から行ってみたかった台湾茶のお店へ念願かなって行くことができたことから始まりまして。何だか敷居が高そうでなかなか訪れることができなかったのですが、実は台湾への旅を最近計画しております。

まあ、その予習といますか、前哨戦といいますか、気分を盛り上げるところから旅ははじまっているということで、訪れてみました。

赤い茶葉の大きな缶がお店が印象的なお店です。写真映えますね。

まずは出していだたいた茶葉のセレクトから致します。

ウーロン茶、プーアル茶、紅茶、緑茶など、産地や発酵の具合など様々でしたが、今回は、その日の暑さと湿気に対抗すべく、しっかりとした発酵の味と香りの厳選阿里山ウーロン茶をセレクト。

しかも夏季はなんと冷茶にも可能ということでしたので、冷茶にいたしました。

運ばれてきましたよ。

一瞬、ビールかと思いまして笑。泡が立っております。いよいよ、テイスティング。いただく際に、この泡が意外としっかりしておりまして、なかなかお茶までたどり着かないのですが、茶を飲んだところでこの泡の意味が分かりました。どうやら香りが閉じ込められていたようです。冷茶ですので、香りが分かりにくいかなと思ったのですが、この泡が蓋として閉じ込めてたようでした。

その一口に、しっかり発酵されたお茶の深さと心地よいえぐみと苦さに冷たさが加わって、私の体の中の汗や油みたいなものがすーっと流されていくようです。冷茶で風味はわかりにくいのではと思っていたのですが、逆に凝縮されたようでその感覚がよくわかりました。そして、その風味はわりといつまでも口の中に残るような感じがして、大変美味しかったです。

しばし赤い缶を眺めながら冷たいお茶を堪能し、いろいろリセット。お茶もさることながらお茶をたしなむ時間や空間にもいろいろリセットされ、大変贅沢なひと時でありました。

冷たい台湾茶どうでしたか。

この季節、特におすすめなんじゃないかと個人的には思っております。

それにしても、今年の夏は冷たい台湾茶を飲みながら台湾の旅の計画をたてるという楽しみができ、この暑さと湿気の中にも希望が見えて参りました。

July has brought guerrilla-like torrential rains in many parts of the country, and floods and overflows are a constant source of worry.

I am one of them. I have managed to keep my health in good shape, but the heat and humidity have caused my makeup to fall off early, and thanks to the humidity, my hair is in the worst condition ever. I looked at myself in the mirror and was so disgusted with my reflection that I couldn’t help but look away. I was a little fed up with the rainy season. I am a little fed up with this rainy season.

I have already told you that I am always looking for something to make my life a little more comfortable during this season, but this year, I have found my summer drink again!

This year, I have taken the liberty of deciding on a cold Taiwanese tea.

I will tell you how I decided on that Taiwanese tea, and I hope it will bring you some refreshment….

It all started with my wish to go to a Taiwanese tea store that I had wanted to visit for a long time. I have been planning a trip to Taiwan for some time now, but I decided to visit this tea shop to prepare for the trip, or perhaps as a prelude to the trip, to get myself in the mood for the trip.

The store is impressive with its large cans of red tea leaves. It looks good in a photo.

The first thing to do is to select the tea leaves we were offered.

There were oolong tea, pu-erh tea, black tea, green tea, and other teas of various origins and fermentation conditions, but this time, to combat the heat and humidity of the day, I selected a carefully selected Alishan oolong tea with a strong fermentation taste and aroma.

Moreover, we were told that the tea can be served cold during the summer season, so we decided to go with cold tea.

The tea was brought to the table.

For a moment, I thought it was beer. The bubbles are rising. Finally, it was time for the tasting. When I was tasting the tea, the bubbles were surprisingly strong, so it was difficult to reach the tea, but after drinking the tea, I understood the meaning of the bubbles. It seems that the aroma was trapped in the tea. Since the tea was cold, I thought it would be difficult to detect the aroma, but it seemed that the bubbles had been locked in as a lid.

The sip of this tea, with its depth of fermentation, pleasant bitterness, and coldness, seemed to wash away all the sweat and oil in my body. I thought it would be difficult to taste the flavor of this cold tea, but on the contrary, it seemed to be condensed and I could understand the sensation. The flavor seemed to stay in my mouth forever, and it was very tasty.

I enjoyed the cold tea while looking at the red can for a while, and reset many things. It was a very luxurious time, not only for the tea, but also for the time and space in which we enjoyed the tea.

How was the cold Taiwanese tea? I personally think it is especially recommended during this season.

I am looking forward to planning my trip to Taiwan this summer while drinking cold Taiwanese tea, and I am beginning to see hope in this heat and humidity.

先日のブログで龍のお話をさせていただきましたが、我が家にも小さな龍がおりました。

中国やモンゴルの伝統楽器である二胡です。

以前中国に住んでいた時に少しだけ習っていました。

二胡の元になる楽器は宋の時代には既に存在していたとのこと。

弦が２本のみで、弦を押さえつける板がなく、弦が浮いている状態で演奏するという非常に弾くのが難しい楽器です。

しかしその音色は深く多彩で、人間の声に最も近いといわれています。

そのため伝統的な名曲から現代の様々なジャンルの曲まで不思議としっくり馴染みます。

日本でもブームとなった「女子十二楽坊」の華麗な演奏を思い起こす方もいるかと思います。

個人的には今年３月に亡くなられた坂本龍一さんの「戦場のメリークリスマス」は二胡で聞くとまた違う趣があって引き込まれます。

のちに作曲された映画のサウンドトラック音楽「ラストエンペラー」にも二胡の演奏が組み込まれていましたね。

素敵な音色だなと思っていましたが、実際に自分でも弾いてみたいと思ったきっかけがありました。

コンサートで聴いた「賽馬」という伝統的な曲で、モンゴルの草原を走る競争馬を表現しており、颯爽と走る馬の姿が目の前に浮かんできます。

ラストの馬のいななきは二胡でしか表現できない臨場感があり圧倒されます。

たくさん動画もあがっているので機会があればぜひ聴いてみてくださいね。

しかしこの「賽馬」。実は超高速、超絶技巧の曲とされており、なぜ自分が弾きたいと思ったのか不思議で、今となってはおこがましい限りです。

まず弓を横に引き、音をだすだけでも大変で、家で練習しているとギーギーとけたたましい音が鳴るので家族はさぞ迷惑だったことでしょう。

二胡の音符はオタマジャクシの音符ではなく、数字譜が使われています。

簡単にいうと、ドが１、レが２、ミが３…と続きます。

つまり童謡の「チューリップ」のさいた～さいた～はドレミ～ドレミ～なので、１２３　１２３と表記されます。

オタマジャクシの音符に馴染みがない人も気楽に始められます。

The other day I told you about dragons, and we have a small dragon in our house.

It is an erhu, a traditional Chinese and Mongolian musical instrument.

I learned a little bit of it when I used to live in China.

The original instrument of the erhu already existed during the Song Dynasty.

It is a very difficult instrument to play, having only two strings and no board to hold the strings down, so it is played with the strings floating.

However, its tone is deep and varied, and is said to be the closest to the human voice.

For this reason, the instrument is at home in a wide variety of genres, from traditional masterpieces to contemporary music.

Some of you may recall the brilliant performances of the “Jyoshi jyuni gakubou,” which became a boom in Japan.

Personally, I am drawn to Ryuichi Sakamoto’s “Merry Christmas in the Battlefield,” which passed away in March of this year, because it has a different flavor when played with the erhu.

I remember that the erhu was also incorporated into the soundtrack music for the movie “The Last Emperor,” which was later composed by Ryuichi Sakamoto.

I thought it had a lovely tone, and it inspired me to actually play it myself.

The traditional piece I heard at the concert, “Sai Ma,” represents a racing horse running across the Mongolian steppe, and the image of a galloping horse floats before my eyes.

The horses’ whinnying in the last part of the piece is overwhelmingly realistic and can only be expressed with the erhu.

There are many videos of this song, so if you have a chance, please give it a listen.

However, this “Sai Ma” is actually a very fast and superbly skilled piece of music. I wonder why I wanted to play it.

First of all, it was very difficult just to pull the bow to the side and make a sound, and when I was practicing at home, I must have been a nuisance to my family because of the squeaky sound it made.

The notes of the erhu are not tadpole notes, but numerals.

Simply put, the notes are numbered: Do is 1, Re is 2, Mi is 3, and so on.

In other words, the nursery rhyme “Tulip” saita~saita~ is do-re-mi~do-re-mi~, so it is written as 123 123.

Even if you are not familiar with tadpole notes, you can easily get started.
