カーネーションですね。このお軸を眺めて、母の日がもうすぐということに気がつきました。

 

さてさて、連休も中盤になりますと、毎年来週に迫った母の日のプレゼントが気になってくるのですが、リクエストが無い場合は好きな食べ物をプレゼントしたり、それも毎年同じものだとどうかなあ…なんてちょっと悩んでいる連休ど真ん中であります。母の日のプレゼントをご検討中のみなさま、なにか喜ばれるいいプレゼントみつかりましたでしょうか。（これは⁈というものがあったら教えてほしい）

 

先日ＴＶを観ていましたら、そんなカーネーションの食用カーネーションの和菓子が発売されるというニュースが耳に入りました。昨今では「エディブルフラワー」と呼ぶそうですよ。

 

「edible＝食べられる」「flower＝花」で“食べられる花”のことを「エディブルフラワー」という素敵なお名前でよばれているようですが、パンジー、ビオラ、バラ、コスモス、ナスタチュームなどさまざまな品種がエディブルフラワーとして使われております。たまに、おしゃれなカフェのランチなどにいくと添えられているだけなのかなと思ったら「こちら、食べられるんですよ。」なんてお勧めされたりして、その華やかさで料理をきれいに彩るだけでなく、野菜やフルーツと同じような感覚で色々なメニューに目にすることも多くなりました。

 

かつての食用花なんて食用菊くらいでしたが、エディブルフラワーの特徴は美しさや豊富なカラーバリエーションを楽しめることの他に実は栄養面でもとても優れており、ミネラルやビタミンなどを多く含むヘルシー食材としてその人気は年々高まっているようであります。

 

ただし食用と鑑賞用の花は農薬や育て方など異なりますので、鑑賞用は口にしてはいけませんので、そこはご注意ください。

 

そんな母の日の近づく中、このカーネーションのエディブルフラワーいいかもしれませんね。

華やかでカラーが豊富で渋みもなく、またデザートやサラダをはじめさまざまな料理に利用でき、色々な場面で活躍してくれる花なので、食材として非常に使いやすいエディブルフラワーでもあるようです。さらには食物繊維や糖質などが豊富に含まれるとともに、心臓の働きを助け、疲労回復にも効果的と言われております。

While watching TV the other day, I heard a news that Japanese sweets made from edible carnations are going on sale. Nowadays, they call them “edible flowers.

 

Edible flower“ is a nice name for a flower that can be eaten, as ”edible“ means ”edible“ and ‘flower’ means ”flower.” Various varieties of flowers such as pansies, violas, roses, cosmos, and nasturtiums are used as edible flowers. Pansies, violas, roses, cosmos, nasturtiums, and many other varieties of flowers are used as edible flowers. Sometimes, when you go to a stylish cafe for lunch, you may think that they are just served as garnish, but you may be recommended, “You can eat this one.
