今年は大阪・関西万博開催に合わせてでしょうか、私の大好きな国宝展が関西に大集結しているようでして、自称国宝マニア風の自分にとっては、すでにテンションが上がっています。まずは現在開催されております国宝展、簡単にご紹介しましょう。

●「大阪市立美術館」

特に京都国立博物館、奈良国立博物館、大阪市立美術館、この3館の国宝展開催は日本中の国宝が関西に大集結したのか？と思ってしまうぐらい超有名作が集結しておりまして本当にすごい。（もっと高尚な言い方はなかったものか…）すでに訪れた方もおいででしょうか。まだこれから是非訪れたいと検討中の皆さま、本日は自分の予習を兼ねた個人的なつぶやきのようになっておりますが、一緒に国宝展について予習できましたら幸いです。是非お付き合いくださいませ。

 

 

まずは奈良国立博物館。

 

 

 

大阪・関西万博開幕と開館１３０年記念し、開館１３０年記念特別展『超 国宝―祈りのかがやき―』

個人的にもう何時間並んでもいい！か行ってみたい展覧会なのですが、「超」なんてタイトル付けちゃってふざけてるのか？と思いきや、館長さんは大真面目に「この展覧会を観ずして、仏教・神道美術を語ることなかれと心から思っている。」と力説するほど研究員が選りすぐった誰もが一度は教科書などで目にしたことがある国宝中の国宝が112点、重要文化財16点が出展されているようです。

 

すでに初日の4月19日には、開館前から長蛇の列ができるほど話題を集めておりまして、自分も訪れる前から覚悟はしておこうと思っておりますが、今回の展示は超国宝級の国宝、みなさま歴史のテストでもご存知の法隆寺「観音菩薩立像（百済観音）」が、なんと３６０度から拝観することが可能な展示になっております。

法隆寺で拝見した方もいらっしゃるとは思いますが、今回は奈良博物館でそのその立ち姿。像高2メートル超の長身で細身なあのスーパーモデル顔負けの8頭身スタイルがどのように展示されているかも気になるところです。

 

他にも個人的に今回気になるのは、その代表的なものとして注目の作品が８つの顔を持つ不思議な異形のお面「八雷神面（はちらいじんめん）」（奈良・華厳宗元興寺）。あごの部分で上下セパレートになるお面で、その面の中に実際に８つ顔があるようで、ちょっと意味わからないので現地でぜひ数えて確認してみたいお面でして、他にも七支刀（石上神宮蔵）、このところ気になっている絵巻物の中でも三大絵巻物の「信貴山縁起絵巻（しぎさんえんぎえまき）」（奈良・朝護孫子寺（ちょうごそんしじ）蔵）は個人的に興味があります。

 

ぜひ超国宝展のHPサイトで目録などを見ていただきたいのですが、奈良にある神社仏閣の選りすぐられた仏教神道美術が一堂に集結しておりますので、奈良好きにはたまらない超国宝展でしょうね。

 

 

そして、大阪市立美術館。

 

 

 

こちらでは関西・大阪万博のテーマにちなんだ「命輝く未来社会のデザイン」をテーマに、日本美術の造形に着目した国宝が展示されております。有名なところですと、本阿弥光悦作「舟橋蒔絵硯箱」尾形光琳作「燕子花図屏風」、伊藤若冲作「群鶏図」なども展示されているようです。そして、気になるところはなんと金印「委奴国王」。折しも昨年福岡市博物館へ訪れて実際に金印を見てきたのですが、金印も福岡から関西・大阪万博まで行脚してきたのか…なんて勝手に愛おしくなってきたりして。

 

会期中は計135点（展示替えあり）もの国宝が紹介されまして、内藤栄館長は「日本の国宝（※建造物をのぞく）の約14%が大阪に集います。未来に向けて何かを残したいと考えたものが国宝になるのだと思います。万博と合わせて、昔の人たちの未来デザインをぜひ見に来てください」とのこと。

 

目録を拝見しましたが、絵巻物や書画などのクールな日本の造形美を是非世界の人に見てほしいなぁなんて個人的には思いました。かなり行きたくなってきましたが、如何せんどの展覧会も会期が被っておりまして…。今、相当悩んでいる最中であります。

This year, perhaps to coincide with the Osaka-Kansai Expo, there seems to be a large gathering of my favorite national treasure exhibitions in the Kansai region, and as a self-proclaimed “national treasure maniac,” I am already excited about it. First of all, let me give you a brief introduction of the National Treasure Exhibitions currently being held.

Osaka Municipal Museum of Art

Special exhibition commemorating the renewal of Osaka Municipal Museum of Art “Japanese National Treasures” in commemoration of Expo ’70 Osaka/Kansai

The exhibition of national treasures from the Kyoto National Museum, Nara National Museum, and Osaka Municipal Museum of Art is so famous that one might think that all the national treasures in Japan have gathered in Kansai. I wonder if some of you have already visited these three museums. For those of you who are still considering visiting the exhibition, this is just a personal note to prepare for your own visit, but I hope that we can learn more about the National Treasure Exhibition together. I hope you can learn about the National Treasure Exhibition with me.

 

First, the Nara National Museum.

 

In commemoration of the opening of the Osaka-Kansai Expo and the museum’s 130th anniversary, the museum is holding a special exhibition, “Super National Treasures: The Bright Light of Prayer,” to commemorate the museum’s 130th anniversary.

Personally, I don’t care how many hours I have to wait in line! I personally don’t care how many hours I have to wait in line to see this exhibition, but I thought they were kidding with the title “super”. I thought he was joking by putting “super” in the title, but the director of the museum earnestly explained, “I sincerely believe that no one should talk about Buddhist and Shinto art without seeing this exhibition. The director of the museum is so earnest that he says, “I sincerely believe that no one can talk about Buddhist and Shinto art without seeing this exhibition.

 

I am prepared for this before I visit the exhibition, but this time, the “Standing Kannon Bodhisattva (Hyakusai Kannon)” of Horyuji Temple, a super national treasure that you may know from history tests, is exhibited from a 360-degree viewpoint. This is an exhibition that can be viewed from a 360-degree angle.

Some of you may have seen it at Horyuji Temple, but this time it is on display at the Nara Museum. I am also curious to see how the statue, which is over 2 meters tall and slender, with an eight-headed style that makes it look like a supermodel, will be displayed.

 

Other works of personal interest this time are the “Hachiraijinmen” (Genkoji Temple of the Kegon sect, Nara), a mysterious, oddly shaped mask with eight faces, which is a representative work of art of this time. The mask is a separate upper and lower part at the chin, and it seems that there are actually eight faces inside the mask, which is a little unintelligible, so I would definitely like to count and confirm it there. (owned by Chogosonji Temple, Nara), one of the three major picture scrolls that have been on my mind recently, is of personal interest.

 

The exhibition is a must-see for Nara lovers, as it brings together selected Buddhist and Shinto art from shrines and temples in Nara.

 

And then there is the Osaka Municipal Museum of Art.

 

The theme of this exhibition is “Designing a Future Society where Life Shines Brightly,” which is based on the theme of the Kansai-Osaka World Expo, and the National Treasures focusing on the formative aspects of Japanese art are on display. Famous works on display include the “Funabashi makie inkstone box” by Honami Koetsu, the “Swallowtail flowers” by Ogata Korin, and the “Cockcrow” by Ito Jakuchu. And the most interesting part is the gold seal, “King Tunu”. I visited the Fukuoka City Museum last year and saw the gold seal in person, but I wondered if it had traveled from Fukuoka to the Kansai and Osaka expositions… I began to love the gold seal.

 

During the exhibition, a total of 135 national treasures were introduced (with changing exhibits), and the director of the museum, Sakae Naito, said, “About 14% of Japan’s national treasures (excluding buildings) are gathered in Osaka. I believe that the national treasures are those that we want to leave something for the future. Please come and see the future designs of the people of the past in conjunction with the Expo”. I have seen the catalog, and I personally hope that people around the world will see the cool beauty of Japanese artwork such as picture scrolls and paintings and calligraphy. I am very much tempted to go, but all of the exhibitions are on the same dates…. I am now in the middle of a difficult decision.
