Hello everyone, this is Staff Y.

Here in Nagoya, the cherry blossoms are almost over.

The fresh green, which had begun to prepare behind the petals, began to appear as if it was waiting for the next turn, and when I noticed it, the faint green was beginning to cover the trees.

I really like the transition of this indescribable season. Especially in the transition of spring, I can feel the breath of various lives, and at this time when I want to feel it even a little every year, I feel somewhat restless lol.

The other day, the restlessness was finally activated, and I went to see “Sakura” where you can really feel the breath of life.

For a long time, I had been thinking that I should definitely go while I was alive (exaggerated …) in Motosu City, Gifu Prefecture.

It is “Usuzumi Sakura”.

It’s a beautiful name. This cherry tree is an Edohigan cherry tree over 1500 years old in the Tansumi Park in the Neo district of Motosu City, Gifu Prefecture, and is a national special natural monument. The light pink cherry blossoms are light pink when they are buds, white when they are in full bloom, and have a peculiar light ink color when they are scattered. Tree height 16.3m, trunk enclosure street 9.91m, branching 26.90m east-west, 20.20m north-south. The age of the tree is estimated to be over 1500 years, and it is said that the Emperor Keitai planted it by hand. Although it is one of the three giant trees in Japan, it has been a dream since I wanted to experience its overwhelming vitality and breath with its branches larger than that.

There was a situation these days, but more than anything else, even if I say Gifu prefecture next door, it is quite accessible from here in Nagoya. It’s hard to reach if I have to swear to my heart, “Let’s go see this cherry blossom on this sunny day at this time.” No, there was …

Anyway, it’s a little disappointing that the size of this cherry tree is not transmitted well by the skill of the cameraman, but please take a look at “Usuzumi Sakura” first while comparing it with the size of the people around you. No.

Can you imagine the size of the giant tree and how the petals of light ink are scattered? It’s difficult to tell well …

When the tree is 1500 years old, it often encounters a pinch of death due to wind and snow. Every time, it was protected and regenerated by many people, and somehow it was revived. In addition to the vitality of this cherry blossom, Usuzumi Sakura is also a history of people’s protection and regeneration, and many people’s activities for cherry blossoms are well known, such as the writer Chiyo Uno appealing for its protection.

While inheriting such thoughts for 1500 years, the cherry blossoms have large branches and the petals of thin ink are in full bloom this year as well. It’s wonderful.

As mentioned earlier, this cherry blossom is light pink when it is a bud, white when it is in full bloom, and has a unique light ink color when it is scattered. We are here.

There is a song about the situation when Emperor Keitai planted cherry blossom saplings to the residents who were taken care of when he returned to the capital from Motosu, Gifu prefecture, where he was hidden and raised.

The body and the cherry blossoms that are left behind are thinly lived, and their name stops in Sakae in Chiyo.
(Minoshiro and her rubbing Sakura she’s thin, she’s back to her, and she’s staying with her)

Perhaps the Emperor Keitai wrote in this way when he stood in front of the same cherry blossoms that I saw yesterday and saw the same light ink color, but the light ink color was very impressive from that time. And, as the Emperor of Japan wrote, this “Usuzumi Sakura” has left its name in Chiyo, and above all, this cherry tree will surely be surprised.

I would like to ask the story of the giant tree, which survived 1500 years later to make its name prosperous, asking, “How was the view of the 1500 full blooms you have received so far?” was.

Everyone, please come visit us someday with a spirit of “I’m going to see the cherry blossoms.”

Well then, good luck.

Hello everyone

My name is Staff N and I’m addicted to kimchi tofu recently.

I was happy from the morning today.

Earlier, I was able to meet a cute black cat during posting.

When I see a cat, I take a picture, but unfortunately I couldn’t take it well this time.

Black cats are often disliked because they are unlucky, but I think there are many friendly children who know that the black cats around me are said to be so.

The picture is a picture of a black cat in my house. He seems to be a famous person who also draws pictures such as Gundam.

I feel a little lonely because the chances of seeing stray cats are decreasing, but I hope that everyone will be a child of somewhere and live happily indoors.

It was a happy day to see this black cat again on the way home.

By the way, April 9th is the day when the world’s first art exhibition was held in Paris, France in 1667.

The Royal Academy of France has released the works of the Academy members to the public from this day to the 23rd in a part of Palais Royal. However, people at that time did not show much interest, and it was carried out every other year after that, but the reaction was not good, the art belonged to the royal aristocrats, and it seems that the public could not afford it. increase.

Originally, the academy was formed by painters, sculptors, and musicians who belonged to workshops, craftsmen’s unions, etc. under the apprenticeship system, saying that art is an intellectual academic field and the old system should be abolished. It was a gathering. Eventually, they will become an institution under the direct control of the King, and will monopolize the privileges of training, commending, and exhibiting artists under the national art policy of creating an art nation that is crowned in Europe. Before the French Revolution, in the arts field, there was the Academy of Painting and Sculpture (established by Charles Le Brun and others in 1648), the Academy of Music (established in 1669), and the Academy of Architecture (established in 1671).

The Royal Academy was abolished by the French Revolutionary Parliament in 1791, but revived in 1795. It was integrated into the “Academy of Arts” in 1816 during the Restoration.

At the center of the academy system is an educational institution (Ecole des Beaux-Arts) that trains artists in a non-training manner, and a competition that selects excellent young artists and gives them a study trip to Italy (Prix de Rome). ), There are three exhibitions (salons) that secure their own place for presentation.

The Ecole des Beaux-Arts originated from the school attached to the Royal Academy of France in the 17th century. In 1819, the painting, sculpture and architecture departments were integrated into the National School of Fine Arts (Ecole des Beaux-Arts). After the May 1968 revolution, the organization was reorganized.

The Prix de Rome was founded in 1803. One person is selected each year from the fields of painting, sculpture, architecture and music to qualify for study abroad in Rome. It is now obsolete.

The Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture in France held an exhibition at Palais Royal (Paris) in 1667, which is considered to be the beginning of the art exhibition. The exhibition (public exhibition) held at the Louvre Palace Salon Carré (square room) was called a salon.

After the French Revolution, the Academy of Painting and Sculpture will be abolished, but will be integrated into the Academy of Arts under the Restoration. After the revolution, the salon was opened to general painters who did not belong to the academy under the examination of academy members (beginning of the open call for participants exhibition). It was the goal of young artists to decide to exhibit at the salon, and the salon became a gateway to the dragon. Academy judges tended to be conservative because of their neoclassical aesthetics and their tendency to embrace the tastes of old aristocrats and emerging bourgeois (academism). New trends were not accepted at the salon, and dissatisfaction gradually increased among young artists. These new trends were also closely linked to the political movement for liberalism over Europe and the rapid development of science.

During the Second Empire, Emperor Napoleon III pursued his own artistic policy and confronted the Academy. In 1863, when the dissatisfaction of the rejected writers increased due to an unusually rigorous examination, the emperor ordered the academy to hold an exhibition of the rejected works in order to leave the judgment to art lovers and the masses. I did. In this “Salon des Refusés”, Manet’s “Lunch on the grass” caused a scandal and became a hot topic because it portrayed the nakedness of everyday life. The French Artists Association was established in 1881 to operate the salon (privatization).

In 1874, a group later called the Impressionists held their own exhibition (the 1st Impressionist Exhibition). In 1884, an unexamined and unlimited exhibition of Indépendants (Salon des Indépendants) will be held, and in 1890, a separate salon sponsored by the National Art Association (Societe National de Bozar) will be held. Many salons will be born after the Salon d’Automne exhibition in 1903.

Artists who later became the ancestors of modern art, such as the Impressionists, stand in their own aesthetics and “academic (academic)” conservative art that prioritizes craftsmanship as taught by the Academy’s art school (Ecole des Beaux-Arts). ) ”And attacked. The number of artists who do not belong to the academy and do not appear in the salon has increased, and they have formed their own groups and associations, and have started to hold solo exhibitions and their own group exhibitions. After World War I in the 20th century, when these painters of modern art in the middle of the 19th century were evaluated, the academic style masters of the art academy who attacked them were forgotten. I will continue.

The salon (Le Salon, French Artists Association Exhibition) is still held every year, but in recent years it has been used until now at the Grand Palais (glass built at the 1900 Paris Exposition). And the large steel exhibition hall) has been closed for a long time due to aging and repairs, so we are holding salons at other large halls. Also, after World War II, the center of art moved from Paris to New York, and the influence of salons on the art world is less than it used to be. Since 2006, with the resumption of the salon exhibition at the Grand Palais, Salon EN CAPITAL, which is held jointly by multiple salons, has been held, and it is expected that the French salon world will rebound in the future. In 2008, LA SECTION DE GRAVURE DE L’ACADEMIE -DES BEAUX-ARTS EXPOSE ET RECOIT SES INVITES was released by Prince Gabriel de BROGLIE (Chancelier de l’institut de France), the president of the French Academy. The exhibition was held as a tribute to four academicians with the theme of ever-changing prints (printing, biography), inviting contemporary printmakers.

There are Japanese people who have been elected as members (regular members / associate members) for their contribution to French art. For example, Seiichiro Ujiie was elected for his achievements such as hosting an exhibition of French art in Japan and investing in the Mona Lisa of the Louvre Museum. Primary members are required to attend academy meetings every Thursday.

In addition, Kenzo Tange (architect, associate member), Yosoji Kobayashi (Yomiuri Shimbun Honorary Chairman, Nippon Television Network Chairman, associate member), Seiji Ozawa (conductor) (2001, associate member, September 2008) From the 24th, the first Japanese main member) has been elected as a member.

Thanks to the people of the past, we can now enjoy art easily.

I felt like going to more museums.

See you soon

2022.04.08

Hello everyone. It is staff Ⅿ.

Recently, the weather in Nagoya is warm every day and it makes me sweat a little with long sleeves. My blog was always told by an acquaintance that I tend to talk about the weather at the beginning. Smile I’m worried about whether it will be the custom of Staff M.

By the way, the sunny days are until this week. It seems that the weather will collapse and it will rain next week. We recommend that you put one folding umbrella in your bag just in case!

I’ve talked about the weather around here, and yesterday’s blog covered the LA museum about “the place I want to go the most”, but today I wrote a little about New Zealand at the end of the blog. I will write about the city of New Zealand.

I visited Wellington, the capital of New Zealand. By the way, isn’t Auckland the capital of New Zealand? !! I think there was someone who thought that. Since my relatives were studying abroad in Wellington, I decided to go on a trip, but until then I thought that Auckland was the capital. But the Capitol, which is supposed to happen in New Zealand, is also in Wellington.

Wellington is a relatively small city on the southernmost tip of the North Island facing the Cook Strait, but with waterside promenades, sandy beaches, lively harbors and colorful houses. There are many attractions.

The first is the Museum of New Zealand Te Papatongarewa.

Opened in 1988, it is a museum where you can learn about New Zealand’s culture and history. “Te Papa Tongarewa” is a Maori word used by New Zealand’s indigenous Maori people to mean “a place with treasure.” As the name suggests, there are 25,000 exhibits.New Zealand’s information board is written in both English and Maori, and the first lyrics of the national anthem are also in Maori, so it is a country that values indigenous culture very much. I think it’s the best museum to get to know New Zealand.

Next is the “Wellington Botanic Garden”.

A botanical garden accessible by ride on the red cable car, which is also a specialty of the city of Wellington, the vast 25-hectare garden is full of greenery and flowers, making it a perfect place for healing. bottom. You can see flowers that you rarely see in Japan without getting bored. Wellington isn’t that big, so you can see the whole city from the hills ahead by cable car. The combination of city views and flowers is the best spot.

Finally, the third one is “Cuba Street”.

It’s a must-see place to enjoy Wellington, with fashionable cafes, delicious restaurants and general merchandise stores. Depending on the time of day, I could enjoy the performances of street musicians and street performers, and when I actually went there, I was performing and being harmonious. The buildings on the street are also unique, and you can enjoy them just by looking at them … Wellington has a lot of cafe culture that attracts attention from Europe, so young people may enjoy visiting cafes. In fact, I found a cafe just a short walk away, and it was an irresistible place for me, who loves coffee.

I would like to recommend it, but I will leave it here.

When I actually went there, I thought that the whole city of Wellington was like art, and I could enjoy it just by taking a walk. As a travel lover, I want to go there again. In the blog of Travel-loving Staff Ⅿ, I would like to continue to write blogs with recommended places and impressions of travel that everyone can enjoy as much as possible, so I would appreciate it if you could keep in touch with me again.

Hello, this is Staff M.

Last night, breaking news came out about the border measures for the new coronavirus, which lifted the entry denials of 106 countries.

Recently, I’ve been thinking about places I would like to visit when I can go abroad, but there is a place I’m particularly interested in.It is a museum “THE BROAD” in Los Angeles.

This museum is said to be a very popular spot that was opened in the center of Los Angeles in 2015. Not only is it easy to access, but admission to this museum is free.

It is a private museum that collects private collections of wealthy man Eli and his wife Edith Broad, and has more than 2000 works. A wide variety of works, from paintings to artistic three-dimensional works and works that utilize space, from large to small ones are exhibited. And even now, it seems that more than one piece of contemporary art is increasing every week.

The most notable work in this museum is “Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Rooms”, which is the art of Yayoi Kusama, a leading Japanese artist. A unique world view is expressed by creating a space where LED lights spread infinitely using a mirror.

This room is a private space given for 45 seconds per person or group, and you can take pictures here. Even if you look only at the pictures, you can see the mysterious world that seems to be in outer space.

In addition to “THE BROAD”, there are various museums and galleries in Los Angeles. For example, the “Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles,” commonly known as “MOCA.” Many contemporary arts such as “THE BROAD” are dealt with here, and works by Andy Warhol, who is famous for “Campbell’s Soup Can” and “Marilyn Diptych”, are permanently installed.

In addition to art, there is also a museum shop called “MOCA Store” in the museum. There were a lot of original goods with good taste, and there were many things I wanted.

In addition, the “Los Angeles County Museum of Art,” commonly known as “LACMA.” Works from all over the world are collected here, and it is said to be one of the largest museums on the west coast. There is a work called “urban light” which is also popular as an Instagram spot. You can walk between countless lights, and it’s so beautiful that it can be used as a proposal stage … Proposal while watching art is very nice.

The more I write, the more I want to go! The feeling becomes stronger.

I used to think that the real thrill of traveling was “food,” but as I grew older, I saw that museums were featured in travel programs, and I thought it would be good to travel around museums. I came to feel it. I love travel programs that make me feel like I’ve been to that country, and I get travel information from them. How do you collect travel information?

Recently, I’ve been feeling better with a travel program, but after all I want to actually go to the site, get in touch with the culture, and see a lot of things with my own eyes! It’s difficult to travel abroad freely now, but I’m waiting for the time to go … I would like to do my best to collect information for some time.

This photo isn’t in Los Angeles, but it’s one of the works in the gallery I stopped by when I went to the town of Wellington, New Zealand. It’s a work that shows the personality of this town and is one of my favorites.

Hello, this is Staff Y.

Today, on my way to work from the morning, I met an innocent first grader and parents carrying colorful school bags. It seems that Nagoya was the entrance ceremony for a public elementary school today.

I was able to see a commemorative photo taken with a big smile in front of the main gate, and I could glimpse everyone who was passing by, but their eyes were shining in the bright future that would be waiting for them in the future. .. I commute to work today, thinking that I am happy to be present even if I pass by at this memorable moment.

Congratulations to all the enrolled students. We are supporting the success of everyone in the future.

By the way, this is not the entrance ceremony but the sequel to the report of the Nomura Museum of Art that I visited the other day, so it’s my hobby, but I’d appreciate it if you could get along with me a little.

It’s a little different from the 500th anniversary of Sen no Rikyu’s birth, which I mentioned the other day, but I would like to talk a little about the items that I personally noticed among the items on display.

“Uesugi Gourd”

It ’s a really beautiful chair. In fact, when I saw it, it was a simple and small tea bowl that really fits in the palm of your hand. Moreover, the shape of the gourd, which is plump like the inscription, is very cute. If you say, “This is why amateurs are in trouble …”

“Uesugi Gourd” (from Nomura Museum Postcard)

This “Uesugi gourd” is a so-called “karamono” imported from China during the Muromachi period, and was made around the 15th century in the Ming dynasty. It is a gourd-shaped tea bowl that is counted as the first of the six gourd tea bowls called “Tenka Nirokutsunouchi”. The candy-colored glaze forms a glaze, and the black candy glaze is deeply drowned from the rim to the shoulder, and the scenery seems to be irresistible.

Certainly. The scenery that spreads out in the small chair is deep and makes me want to look at the details all the time, and I also see it over and over again. The attraction that attracts people is certainly convincing.

And the origin of the inscription that can’t be helped. It’s also a story of how many people were attracted to the world of the little chair, but this was also very attractive to me as a reki-jo.

This tea ceremony is one of the “Higashiyama Treasures” collected by Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimasa. It is called. As far as I know, it seems that it has come into the hands of an amazing person, but Yoshitaka Ouchi is suicide due to the coup d’etat of Sue Harukata, a vassal of Mr. Ouchi. After that, Harukata established Harukata Otomo, the younger brother of Sorin Otomo, the lord of Bungo, as the head of the Ouchi family (Haruhide was renamed Yoshinaga Ouchi). At this point, Yoshinaga owns “Ouchi Gourd”.

Then, the famous Motonari Motonari defeated Sue Harukata in the first year of Koji (1555) in that “Battle of Miyajima”, and in the same year (1557) he attacked Yoshinaga Ouchi. .. Motonari consulted with Sorin Otomo about the disposition of Yoshinaga, but Sorin did not ask for Yoshinaga’s help, but instead wanted this tea ceremony, and it was said that Motonari donated the tea ceremony to Sorin. Therefore, you can see the magical nature of this cute chair that attracts the warlords. (Excuse me.)

After this, “Ouchi Gourd” became known as “Otomo Gourd” and was passed down from Sorin to his son’s righteousness.

Furthermore, the history of this tea ceremony continues, and in the 15th year of Tensho (1587), when Toyotomi Hideyoshi conquered Kyushu, Mr. Otomo was relieved to be a Toyotomi person and to Bungo Ichikuni and Buzen Usa-gun Hangun. As a reward, Yoshinori donated “Otomo Gourd” to Hideyoshi. It is finally in the hands of Hideyoshi. After that, it was given to Uesugi Kagekatsu by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and it seems that the current name of “Uesugi Gourd” was given from there.

After that, the Uesugi clan had been in the possession for about 50 years until the time of Tsunakatsu, but when Tsunakatsu took over the house after the death of Tsunakatsu, he gave it to the shogunate and left the Uesugi clan. Especially.

After that, he moved to the Maeda clan in Kaga for a while, but it was presented to the shogunate again, and Yorinobu Kii Dainagon worshiped it when he retired, and since then it has been handed down to the Kishu clan.

Then, from the Meiji era to the early Showa era, he went to Tokushichi Nomura (Tokuan), who was the founder of the Nomura conglomerate, and has reached the present day. , It seems that you can roughly cover the history of Japan from Muromachi.

To summarize the tradition of “Uesugi Gourd”,

Yoshimasa Ashikaga → Tamami Murata → Shogunate Takeno → Yoshitaka Ouchi → Yoshinaga Ouchi → (Mori Motonari) → Sorin Otomo → Yoshimune Otomo → Hideyoshi Toyotomi → Kagekatsu Uesugi → Tsunakatsu Uesugi → Shogunate Tokugawa → Shogunate Kaga → Shogunate Tokugawa → Kishu Tokugawa family → Nomura Tokuan (Nomura Museum)

While tracing these famous warlords and tea masters one by one, I was wondering how they passed on to the next owner without permission. I think that you could understand the feeling that you want to see it over and over again.

Even so, I have one question. Even though I left the Uesugi family, why is it transmitted today under the name “Uesugi Gourd”?

I don’t know the reason for this, but the warlords who got this tea ceremony in the past are probably laughing bitterly.
Thank you for your relationship.

Well then, good luck.

Hello, this is Staff Y.

Today is a refreshing sunny day here in Nagoya. The cherry blossoms have already passed the peak of full bloom, and the petals have begun to flutter. When I was riding my bicycle past the scattered petals, I noticed that it was the petals of the cherry blossoms planted on the site of the Nagoya Local Meteorological Observatory.

When I stopped my bicycle for a while and looked up, I saw a chalk radar dome rising in the blue sky through the gaps between the cherry blossoms in full bloom.

This Nagoya Local Meteorological Observatory, as you know, is engaged in ground-based meteorological observation, regional meteorological observation (AMEDAS), meteorological observation work consisting of seasonal biological observation, forecast work, earthquake information, disaster prevention, and public relations work for one day. Once in a while, everyone is indebted to us for weather forecasts and earthquake information on TV.

Actually, here in Nagoya, there is a cherry tree specimen on the premises of the Nagoya Local Meteorological Observatory. It seems that the flowering of this cherry blossom will send out a declaration of flowering in this area.

This facility is located on a small mountain in an ordinary residential area, about 5 minutes by bicycle from the antique art Fukosha Nagoya store, but only staff and related persons can enter this facility. not. Therefore, it is not possible to look at the specimen tree up close, but I tried to find it by going to the very limit of the entrance of the facility, but I wonder if I can understand it. There were some cherry blossoms in full bloom on the premises, but unfortunately it was not possible to confirm which was the specimen tree.

Rumor has it that it looks like a fairly old tree and its age is uncertain, but since it was opened from this meteorological observatory in 1923, did it exist here before that? Also, it seems that the second generation is also being raised due to unforeseen circumstances, so please be assured.

Such cherry blossoms in Nagoya will be announced on the day when the Yoshino cherry tree on the premises of this facility has 5 to 6 or more flowers (although “5 or more” is a good expression). As I mentioned earlier, the site is not open to the general public like Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo, so I’m a little lonely while there is no excitement around me saying “Sakura flowering announcement, I’m going to see the cherry blossoms!” No, it seems to be a calm declaration of flowering. However, there seems to be no pressure from the surroundings like the TV fuss.

After all, I couldn’t confirm the specimen tree, but I was able to lavishly monopolize this clear blue sky, the white radar dome, and the cherry blossoms in full bloom. It was this morning when I ran through the petals fluttering and fluttering on my bicycle, thinking, “Let’s burn this landscape into my eyes.”

Well then, good luck.

Hello everyone, this is Staff M.

It’s been raining since yesterday, and the cherry blossoms are about to be seen on the weekend … I have changed my clothes and I don’t have winter clothes, so I wear many layers to survive the cold.

There is such a word in the spring saying. “There is no sunny day in spring” This is because the westerlies (jet stream) flowing over the Japanese archipelago in spring become stronger, and the moving speeds of mobile high pressure and low pressure pass around Honshu one after another, and they are not covered by high pressure for days.

It means that the weather will change faster. Right now, the days are exactly as the saying goes.

In spring, when the weather changes easily, it may be a good idea to have one folding umbrella in your bag just in case.

By the way, today is the day of studying antique art of Staff IV, and I would like to introduce and study one of our works. Today’s work is here.

This is a vase of the Li Dynasty, and the characters lined up in a neat white porcelain are impressive.

“Joseon” is a country that existed on the Korean Peninsula, and is an abbreviation for Mr. Lee, which is correctly called Korea or the Kingdom of Korea. The Kingdom of Korea was founded in 1392 by Taejo of Joseon, a military commander of Goryeo, and continued for more than 500 years until 1910.

(In Japan, it continued from the Muromachi period through Azuchi-Momoyama and Edo until the end of the Meiji era.)

The artistic culture of this era was supported by high-ranking bureaucrats called “Yangban”, who are deeply involved in the formation of Li Dynasty furniture.

At that time, both groups were in charge of national politics, and also had great power as landowners and lords. Since both groups were selected by the Imperial Examination System, “academic studies” were highly encouraged. At that time, Confucianism was the state religion, so the spirit of “respecting gratitude and hating splendor and luxury” was respected.

It is said that this spirit was naturally reflected in the personal items of both groups, and many simple furniture and stationery were produced.

This Li Dynasty furniture reflects the Confucian spirit encouraged by the dynasty, and is praised for its “simpleness and tranquility”, and has become a very beloved presence all over the world, especially in Japan, where the “heart of wabi-sabi” is good.

I did. Many literary artists liked the vessels and furniture of the Li Dynasty, and the techniques and expressions permeated Japanese potters and craftsmen.

It is well known that many cultural figures such as Keisuke Serizawa, Jiro Shirasu, Masako and his wife, and Soetsu Yanagi, the father of the folk art movement, also loved “Li Dynasty Furniture” and widely conveyed its goodness. Therefore, even in the present age, which has passed a long time, the “Li Dynasty furniture” that fascinates us still has “beauty” that does not change even if the times change.

In addition to vases, we also have bookshelves for Li Dynasty items.

The structure is easy to use with the Kannon door, and you can see the traditional design unique to Korea in some places, although it is simple. Li Dynasty furniture is simple, matching both Western and Japanese rooms, but it’s all the point of the room. I learned about the beautiful world of Li Dynasty that blends into the present age, and experienced the splendor that has been passed down.

It is very interesting to be able to know the beauty and importance of things and the background of the times when doing this work.

And now, I wish I had studied world history and Japanese history more when I was a student. However, I still enjoy learning with you in this way. Let me study together again. Bye.

Hello everyone

This is Staff N.

Yesterday, when I bought a movie ticket at a movie theater on a whim, I left my baggage in a locker, and when I was wondering, it was MX4D.

MX4D is an attraction-type theater where the wind, splashes, and chairs sway, but it was fun.

I didn’t have to buy drinks or popcorn.

By the way, there was a very cute glass that I bought the other day.

This cut glass is palm-sized and easy to hold, and the color is elegant purple and beautiful.

The pattern is simple, isn’t it?

The appearance of five lines is also wonderful.

The president also liked it and called it “Cute! Cute!”

There are two famous Japanese kiriko, Edo kiriko and Satsuma kiriko.

Edo Kiriko was created by merchants as something that ordinary people use on a daily basis.
The colored glass is thin, and it is characterized by its transparency and gorgeousness, and has been passed down through the end of the Edo period and the Meiji Restoration.

On the other hand, Satsuma Kiriko is mainly made for foreign trade and appreciation, and will develop as an industry at the clan level. The colored glass is thick and has a profound feeling. At the end of the Edo period and the Meiji Restoration, the factory was burned down, the clan disappeared, and the industry was cut off, but it is currently being reprinted.

The biggest difference between Edo Kiriko and Satsuma Kiriko is the way the colored glass remains after cutting.
Edo Kiriko has a thin colored glass part, and after cutting, the boundary between the cut transparent part and the colored part becomes sharp, while Satsuma Kiriko has a thick colored glass part, so when you cut it, the boundary part becomes sharp. It looks like a gradation.

It is said that Edo Kiriko began when Kyubei Kagaya, who ran a beadro wholesaler in Edo in the 5th year of Tenpo, used Kongo sand to cut glass products brought in from the West.

When Kurofune arrived, there was a Kagaya Kiriko bottle in the gift, and there is a story that Perry was surprised at the beauty of the work.
In the Meiji era, glass production became one of the government’s businesses, new European technologies were introduced, and the tradition of Edo Kiriko, which has continued since the latter half of the Edo period, has been continuously passed down to the present day.

It was designated as a traditional craft of Tokyo in 1985, and designated as a traditional craft by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry in 2002.

Shimazu Nariakira, the 28th feudal lord of the Satsuma Domain, will promote large-scale modernization projects such as shipbuilding, iron making, spinning, and printing ahead of other domains.

This included a glass factory, which manufactured various glass products such as Satsuma Kiriko.
Research was also conducted on “Satsuma’s red glass” and the method of coloring glass, which was praised for its beauty, and it is said that it succeeded in developing colors such as red, indigo, purple, and green.

However, when Nariakira died suddenly, this business was also reduced, the factory was burned down in the Satsuma Rebellion in 1863, and Satsuma Kiriko’s technology was completely lost before and after the Satsuma Rebellion in the Meiji era.

In 1985, 100 years later, Satsuma Glass Crafts was established in Kagoshima City and restored Satsuma Kiriko.
While valuing that tradition, he is enthusiastically working on the development of new products.

In 2001, Satsuma Kiriko was born in commemoration of the beginning of the new century.
A new world has opened up in the colors of Kiriko, which was based on shades of a single color.

Currently, Satsuma Kiriko is produced at five workshops in Satsuma Town, Kirishima City, Minamisatsuma City, and Kagoshima City.

Also, the topic recently is the black facet.
When cutting a kiriko, shine light from the back side and cut it with a grinder while checking the draft line, but if it is black, the light does not pass, so the draft line cannot be seen.
It is a gem that a craftsman who has trained for many years can finally complete by making full use of his five senses, relying on the sound and vibration of the cut.

Kiriko has products such as tableware, sake sets, vases, and lamps.
Among them, glasses are the most popular, and sake sets such as drinking glass, shochu glass, rock glass, wine glass, tumbler, beer glass, cold sake glass, box glass, champagne glass, etc. are popular. ..
It is also appreciated as a gift or as a souvenir for various celebrations.
As for tableware, there are small plates to large plates, small bowls, large bowls, salad bowls, small items such as paper weights and smartphone cases, and products such as table clocks, photo frames, wind chimes, and accessories.

Kiriko is very delicate, so you need to be careful about how to handle it.
Especially, how to care for things that are frequently used, such as glasses and tableware,

Wash with a soft sponge or cloth
Do not use the dishwasher
Since it is vulnerable to sudden temperature changes, it is NG to put it in the refrigerator as well as hot ones.
Be careful as it is easily broken by contact with other tableware. Do not stack
Do not wash with greasy items
Gently and gently wipe with a soft cloth.

Let’s be careful about such things.
Even so, if you use it to some extent, “dullness” will occur.
In that case, dilute and soak the household bleach in a few minutes to remove the dullness and restore the brilliance of the kiriko.

There is also a workshop where you can actually experience Edo Kiriko.

I definitely want to make my own original cutlery work, which is the only one in the world.

Japanese Kiriko, which has both delicacy and luster, is popular not only in Japan but also overseas.

I would like to cherish the culture of making progress while carefully inheriting the traditional techniques of Kiriko work, which has been filled with the wishes of people from the Edo period, and incorporating new ones.

On Mother’s Day, it’s nice to have a carnation on a cut glass as a gift.

See you soon
