『An Artist of the Floating World 』（浮世の画家）

こちらはスタッフTの読書好きの家族Bが、

以前に薦めてくれた書籍です。

著者カズオイシグロは、

1989年に長編小説『日の名残』で英語圏最高の文学賞とされる「ブッカー賞」を、

2017年に「ノーベル文学賞」を受賞していましたね。

ロンドン在住。長崎県出身の日系イギリス人小説家です。
 
邦題『浮世の画家』は日本でドラマにもなっていました。
戦争に協力した画家が、戦後非難を受けて「反省」を余儀なくされる、というお話で、
娘の縁談の相手やかつての弟子など都合三人に「卑劣極まりない人生」となじられ、
アイデンティティの喪失に直面するも、世間も家族もそんな問題は何処へやら、
老人は一人煩悶のままに、人生の終わりを迎えていくだろう、というお話。
明らかにフジタと横山大観の二人をモデルにしたであろう人物を渡辺謙が演じており、
このドラマで怖い場面はふたつ、
広末涼子演じる娘に「お前のいう通りに僕は過去を整理した」と述べるも
「え？なんのこと」と目を丸くされてしまうところ、
もうひとつは2001年宇宙の旅のボーマン船長のように
自分が描いた絵を燃やすところを眺める場面。
「焼く匂い」がキーワードになり、何が現実か判然としなくなる描写は
タルコフスキー「ソラリス」みたいで正しくカズオイシグロぽくてなかなか良い。

私的には、寺田心くんが演じている孫が、
本当は怖いくせに怪獣映画を見る！と強がってみたり、
まるで大人ぶってお酒を飲むと言ってみたり、
男尊女卑の世相を映す鏡のように女性を見下すような態度を取ったりするんですが・・・
それを見た主人公が、その孫の姿に自分を見ているように感じる描写が印象的でした。
 

戦争中は英雄だった軍人はもちろん、芸術家も、
戦後は戦犯のように扱われた人たちがいたのです。画家だけではありません。
音楽家・古関裕而さんは近年NHKの朝のドラマで戦前･戦中･戦後の様子が描かれていました。
国家掲揚に貢献したという高評価が、
戦後はまるで罪人のようなものになってしまいましたね。
 
それまでもてはやされていた価値観が180度変わってしまうことがあります。
戦後の経済成長期、大きいことはいいことだった時代もありましたが、
近年は小さくコンパクトに収まる革新的技術が最先端になりました。
むかしは沢山持つことが豊かさの象徴だったのに、
近年はミニマリストが話題になってました。
クリーンエネルギーと謳われた原子力発電も、想定外の天災に遭ってしまっては・・・
汚染の源となってしまいました。
 
いまでは使い捨てる消費社会もさらに見直され、
便利なプラスチック製品をやめてサスティナブルな社会を目指している現在。
 
これからの浮世はどのように変わっていくのでしょうか…。

突然ですが、東大寺 ”奈良の大仏さん”の名で親しまれている「盧舎那仏坐像（るしゃなぶつざぞう）」は、現在の日本円でおよそ４６５７億円以上もの費用がかかった大事業だったとご存知でしたか？

（材料費、人件費、住居費などを含めます）

「盧舎那仏坐像」とは、経典『華厳経』で説かれる、宇宙を象徴した無限大の仏です。

仏教で世を守る「鎮護国家」の思想に基づき、聖武天皇の発願によって造像。

日本人なら誰でも知っている、あのお姿を見たら納得！とも思いますが、延べ２６０万人が関わり、７年もの造営期間をかけたという、まさに国を挙げての大プロジェクトだったのですね。

造立に至った理由…　それは8世紀、平城京に都が置かれた奈良時代は、政変や疫病など相次ぐ災いを仏法の教えで打破しようと、天皇や貴族が仏像や寺院を建立していたことに始まるとのこと。

鎌倉時代、江戸時代には補修もされていますが、実用を超えた装飾美には圧倒的な生命力が宿るとも言われます。

この大仏さまを前にしたら泣く子も黙る、大人も黙る⁈ほどすべてを見抜かれているような、まさに宇宙をも支配しているかのような圧倒的存在を感じます。

単純に、大昔の人たちってすごいなと感心してしまいます。

日本では古代より美しい造形に対するこだわりをもち、貨幣でアートが取引されるより遥か昔、縄文時代から日本人は美に価値を見出してきたそうです。

約１万年続いた縄文時代の中で代表される「火焔型土器」は、口縁に複雑な飾りが施されています。

よく資料に載っているものですね。

当時は専門の職人はいなかったそう。

狩猟や採集のかたわら、土器づくりの腕とセンスが磨かれていったのですね。

そう思うと私たちのご先祖さまって素晴らしい！美的感覚遺伝子を残してくれてありがとう！と思います。

造立されてから現在まで、数多くの歴史や困難を見守ってこられた大仏さま。

あの日からちょうど１０年という今日をどう感じておられるのでしょう…

被災された方々がこの１０年間をどのような思いで過ごされてきたのかと思うと心が痛み、言葉もありません。

前を向いて進んでいらっしゃる皆さまが少しでも早く日常に戻れますよう_

今はただただお祈り申し上げるばかりです。

大きな大きな仏像や、お傍にいる小さな古美術品たちは、様々な時代を生き抜いてきた姿やパワーを感じてもらう役目もあるような気がしています。

先日、自宅の器棚を久しぶりに整理してみました。

昔から引っ越しが多かったせいか、その都度欠けたり使わなくなった器を整理しながら全国引っ越しをしてきましが、とあるマグカップだけは、何故かずっと私と一緒に引っ越ししながら旅しています。

もうずっと一緒についてくるので、半分しかたないなぁ連れて行ってやるか…。と、毎回思わせるなかなかの策士。

私が5歳くらいだったと思うのですが、某メーカーのココア飲料が大流行しました。それを飲むために母が買ったのでしょうか、特に有名なブランドでもなく、いかにも普段使いの当時流行ったサイケデリック柄のプリントのマグカップです。（当店のイメージにはふさわしくないと判断し、搭載は遠慮しました笑）

当時の子どもの私には、少し大きいカップだったのですが、毎朝そのカップを小さな手で持ちながら、当時流行った暖かなココア飲料を飲めることが嬉しかった思い出が鮮明に残っています。そのサイケデリックなオレンジの柄を見ると、その記憶が一気にによみがえるのです。今でいう〝エモい〟て、やつか。

実家から独立し暮らして久しいのですが、何故私のところにあるのかは思い出せません。が、何度となくする引っ越しの物品選抜にもくぐり抜けて、私と共に何十年も旅をしているサイケデリックオレンジ、強者ですね。

さて、明日で東日本大震災から10年。

今朝のテレビで、石巻市の大川小学校の様子が映し出されました。家も家族も失うという経験から立ち上がるということがどんなにつらく大変なご苦労だったかと思うと、映像を見ながら胸が締め付けられる思いでした。現在の釜谷地区は更地の状態で、残された小学校の建屋のみが当時の状況を物語っています。釜谷地区の方々は別の地域での生活をスタートすることを選んでおり、苦渋の選択だっだろうなと思うと切なくなりました。

新しい地での暮らしの中に以前の暮らしのものは殆ど残っていないと思いますが、どうか、昔暮らしていた街での何気ない暮らしや、家族や、人や、物や、風景の思い出は、どこに行ってもどこで暮らしてもずっと一緒に連れて行って持っいて欲しいものです。その思い出は、絶対に誰にも持っていかれませんから。

私のようなものが語る資格はありませんが、今朝コーヒの注がれたオレンジ柄のマグカップを手にしながら、

いつかきっと、東北は訪れようと思うのでした。

It was a little big cup for me as a child at that time, but I have vivid memories of being happy to be able to drink the warm cocoa drink that was popular at that time while holding the cup with a small hand every morning. When you see the psychedelic orange pattern, that memory comes back to life at once. It’s what we call “emo” now, and it’s a little.

I have lived independently from my parents’ house for a long time, but I forgot why it was with me. However, I have been traveling with me for decades, having survived the selection of moving goods that I have lost many times. Psychedelic orange is a strong man.

By the way, it will be 10 years since the Great East Japan Earthquake tomorrow.

On TV this morning, the state of Okawa Elementary School in Ishinomaki City was projected. When I thought about how hard it was to get up after the painful experience of losing my home and family, I was struck by the video. The current Kamatani district is in a vacant lot, and only the remaining elementary school building tells the situation at that time. People in the Kamatani area have chosen to start living in another area, and I was sad to think that it would be a painful choice.

I don’t think there are many things from the old life left in the new land, but please, the casual life in the city where you used to live, the memories of your family, people, things, and scenery. No matter where you go or where you live, I want you to take it with you forever. That memory will never be taken to anyone.

美術史小説の名手・原田マハさん著『楽園のカンヴァス』。

こちらの本、随分前に購入したのに恥ずかしながら本棚に眠らせたままでした。

そして先日、読了いたしました。（皆さま、今さらとお思い⁈）

山本周五郎賞を受賞されているこちらの作品。

”MoMA 勤務経験を生かした原田マハの真骨頂！”と帯にありましたが、確かに私たち読者にもその勤務の一端を体験させてくれたように思います。

読書の面白さは映像化にはない、自分自身の想像力次第で物語がどんどんと創造されていくところではないでしょうか。

特に小説は、自分好みの情景が頭の中で描けて、現実逃避にはもってこいですよね。

今回は作品の構成からNY、スイスのバーゼル、そして1900年代のパリへとページを開けばすぐに飛んでいけました。

そして貴重な職務の任務をも全うさせてもらいました！

勝手にやり遂げた感がすごいです笑。

以前、NHKの番組で原田マハさんと指揮者の大野和士さんが対談されていたのを思い出しましたが、ご本人もフィクションとノンフィクションの間の物語だと語っていたような…

（本の表紙絵のとおり、アンリ・ルソーの幻の名画「夢」が物語の焦点です）

史実とフィクションを織り交ぜて美術の魅力を表現するという独自の作品で人気のある方です。

確かに読んでいる方は、どこまでがほんとの話⁈と錯覚させられます。

それが謎のままもまたいいのでしょう。

このような美術ミステリー小説を読むと、たくさんの名画には知られざる逸話が山ほどあるのではないかと、どんどん興味が増します。

そこが魅了される所以でしょうね。

名画そのものを手に入れること難しくても、それに付随する謎をひっそりと知っている_

それもちょっと自分だけのミステリーみたいでいいですよね。

同作家による美術史小説は他にも

・ピカソの名画がテーマのサスペンス『暗幕のゲルニカ』

・ゴッホとその生涯を支えた人たちを描いた『たゆたえども沈まず』

すでに読まれた方も多いと思いますが、傑作と書評される作品が数々あります。

スタッフ I 個人的には、ドキドキ感の強いちょっとダークな内容のものも好きですが、春のやわらかい陽ざしの中で読むには、女性らしいミステリーアート小説もいいなと思いました。

キュレーターってなんだか格好いい！

“Paradise Kanvas” by Maha Harada, a master of art history novels.

I bought this book a long time ago, but I was ashamed to keep it asleep on the bookshelf.

And the other day, I read it. (Everyone, I think it’s a long time ago⁈)

This work has won the Yamamoto Shugoro Award.

The book cover said, “The true value of Maha Harada, who made the best use of his work experience at MoMA!”, But I think that we readers certainly let us experience a part of that work.

The fun of reading is not in visualization, but it seems that stories are being created more and more depending on one’s own imagination.

Especially in novels, you can draw your favorite scene in your head, which is perfect for escapism.

This time, I could fly from the composition of the work to NY, Basel, Switzerland, and Paris in the 1900s as soon as I opened the page.

And I was able to complete my valuable duties!

The feeling of accomplishing it without permission is amazing lol.

I remembered that Maha Harada and Kazushi Ono, the conductor, had a conversation on an NHK program before, but it seems that he herself said that it was a story between fiction and non-fiction .

(As shown on the cover of the book, Henri Rousseau’s illusory masterpiece “Dream” is the focus of the story.)

She is popular for her unique work that expresses the charm of art by interweaving historical facts and fiction.

Certainly, those who are reading can be illusioned as to how far the story is.

It would be nice if it remained a mystery.

Reading such art mystery novels makes me more and more interested in the many unknown anecdotes in many masterpieces.

That is the reason why it is fascinating.

Even if it is difficult to get the masterpiece itself, I quietly know the mystery that accompanies it _

It’s a little like mystery, isn’t it?

以前にも、ブログにてご近所をご紹介いたしましたが、

ここ古美術風光舎名古屋店のあります千種区城山近辺は、歴史の古い趣きのある地区。

城山八幡宮を始め、お寺さんなどがたくさんある地区なんです。

城山八幡宮がある城山の森一帯には、その名の通り、信長の父織田信秀が築いた末森城があった地。

つまり神社でもあり、城址でもあるというなんともロマン溢れる場所なのです。

末森城は織田家のお家騒動によりは1548年に築城されるも、1558年には廃城となってしまいます。

わずか10年で廃城になってしまいましたが、

明治になり、末森村にあった浅間社・山神社・一ノ御前社・白山社を八幡社に合祀します。

その後、末森城跡地が八幡社の所有地となり、昭和11年（1936年）に八幡社が現在の場所へと遷座されたようです。そして、末森城の名は今でも、近くに通っています〝末盛通〟としてその名は残っています。

城山八幡宮のみならずここ城山一帯は小高い山の小径に沿って神社仏閣がひっそりと点在しており、

今日は雨上がりでもあったので、しっとりしたお寺の風景を横目に通ってきました。

古美術風光舎名古屋店の裏にある静かな坂をゆっくりと少し登っていくと、坂の中腹あたりでしょうか、

相応寺の大きな山門が現われます。

寛永二十年、尾張藩祖徳川義直が、母相応院おかめの方の菩提のために建立されたそうです。

元々は、東区山口町にあったのですが、昭和の初めにこの地に移されたとか。山門や本堂が前の小径に対しとても大きいので、なるほどそういうことかと納得。しかも本堂は、寛永二十年創建当時のものなんですね。

山門から金堂もさらに石の階段を登らねばなりません。

登りきると、ちょうど眼前には覚王山方面。

この城山の斜面に拝する金堂からは、きっと昔は、覚王山の辺りまで豊かな風景が見渡せていたのではないでしょうか。

今は、姫池通り沿いのビルやマンションがすぐ目の前に見え、通りを行き交う車の音などの風景が。

しかし、一旦この城山の地区にひとたび足を踏み入れると、行き交う車の音もなく、静かな小径にお寺の風景と間近に迫る街の風景が。

時代の移り変わりを一気に見ているようです。(カメラマンＹの腕がよくないので、お伝えしきれないのが残念）

雨あがりの苔むした石の階段を下りながら、いつまでも残っていてほしい地区だなと思う朝でした。

The area around Shiroyama, Chikusa-ku, where the antique art Fukosha Nagoya store is located, is an old district.

It is a district with many temples, including Shiroyama Hachimangu.

As the name suggests, Suemori Castle was built by Nobunaga’s father, Oda Nobuhide, in the Shiroyama Forest area where Shiroyama Hachimangu is located.

In other words, it is a place full of romance that it is both a shrine and a castle ruin.

Suemori Castle was built in 1548 due to the Oda clan’s house turmoil, but it will be abandoned in 1558.

It was abandoned in just 10 years,

In the Meiji era, the Asama shrine, Yama Shrine, Ichino Gozen shrine, and Hakusan shrine in Suemori village are enshrined in Hachiman shrine.

After that, the site of Suemori Castle became the property of Hachiman Shrine, and in 1936, Hachiman Shrine was relocated to its current location.

It seems. And the name of Suemori Castle still remains as “Suemoritori”, which is still nearby.

マスクはもう全ての人の必需品ですね。
最近は二重マスクが推奨されてますが、
ウレタンマスクの上に布マスクを掛ると、
どういう理由かはわかりませんが、
一枚ずつ装着するより、こちらの方がなぜか息がしやすい！
（そんなことありませんか？）

効果があるのかどうかもわかりませんが・・・
取りあえず色合わせも楽しめるので習慣になっています。

さて、最近スタッフＴが手に取った書籍に
『マボロシの茶道具図鑑』があります。（依田徹さん著）

茶道具とは＿初期のものは遠く中国よりもたらされたので、
唐物として大変珍重されました。
ご存知のように戦国時代には、
一国一城と同じ価値とされる茶道具さえあったほどです。

現在まで、美しく無傷で伝わる「茶入れ　初花肩衝」のような物もあれば、
「井戸茶碗　筒井筒」「茶入れ　玉垣文琳」のように満身創痍で、
繋ぎ合わされて修復されている物もあります。
形さえ残っていれば実物を目で見て確かめることができますよね。

ところが、まったく姿形が失われてしまった例も数多くあるわけで・・・
それでも素晴らしい名物茶道具は記録に残されているので、
それらが存在していたという事実だけは幻のように今に伝わっています。
それどころか現在まで人々に多大な影響をあたえ続けているものさえあるのです。

それらは確かに存在していた＿
茶道具だけでなく、他にもいろいろ、
個人の思いの込められた御品物や、
大切に残しておきたいもの、ありますよね。

天災や戦災・人災により　たとえ形を失っても、
止むにやまれず手放したとしても＿
人々の記憶に残る限り、それらは永遠に在り続けることが
できるのではないでしょうか。

皆さまこんにちは。今日は少し風が強いですが、日差しが暖かく、春らしい天気ですね。

こんな日には、お散歩をしたくなりますね。

三月六日本日は、菊池寛の命日だそうです。

彼の著作である「父帰る」や、「恩讐の彼方に」は舞台化や映画化、テレビドラマ化もされ、愛されつづけていますよね。

菊池寛と言えば、芥川賞と直木賞の設立者としてもよく知られています。設立には、第四次「新思潮」メンバーとして交流を深めた芥川龍之介や、直木三十五の名前を、後世に残すためという理由があったそうです。

文藝春秋を創刊したのも菊池寛というから驚きです。創刊には若い作家たちに活躍の場を与えたいという思いから、創刊に至ったそうです。

彼が生きていた時代は明治21年から昭和23年。明治、大正、昭和と実に3つの元号をまたいでいたのですね。

西暦にすると、1888年から、1935年です。

ちょうどこのとき、日本ではスペイン風邪が猛威を奮っていたのです。

彼の実体験を元に描かれた短編『マスク』を読むと、当時のことが目に浮かぶように語られています。（菊池寛記念館のサイト「おうちでまなぶ菊池寛」より読むことができますよ！）

人一倍身体が弱かった彼は、朝夕と、家を出るときと帰ったときには、かかさずうがいをしていたそうです。また、外出の際にはマスクにはガーゼをたくさん詰め、殆ど外出をせずに過ごした一か月もあったそうです。

当時作成されたポスターには、「汽車電車　人の中ではマスクせよ　外出の後はウガヒ忘るな」の文字。

当時も今も、感染症の対策のかなめは同じですね。

それにしても、この時代からマスクがあったなんて知りませんでした…

実は私もつい先日、スタッフＴさんと同じ公園の梅園を訪れていたのでびっくりしました。

何だかうれしい気持ちになりました^^

雨が似合うなぁ…としみじみ。。

そしてこんな演奏に合わせてお茶したいなと思うおとものお菓子を発見しました。

「ホテル雅叙園東京」で販売されているマカロンがとっても芸術的なのです！

その名も『天井画マカロン』。

その名の通り、日本画をモチーフにした絵が描かれているマカロンなのです。

食べるのが勿体ないほど繊細で数日は飾っておくでしょうね笑。

日本の美が詰まった唯一無二のミュージアムホテルならではだと思います。

まさに絢爛豪華という言葉がぴったりのこちらのホテル。

うっとりする空間ばかりで、コンセプトとなっている”昭和の竜宮城”が体感できます。

東京都指定有形文化財「百段階段」はとても有名なので訪れたことがある方も多いと思います。

スタッフ I 個人的には、この絵画のようなお菓子に似合ううつわを一緒にプレゼントするのも素敵だなと思っています。

本日はハレの日ケの日の、“ケ”らしい？曇り時々雨のお天気でございます。

昨日はハレの日らしい本当に晴れやかな一日でしたね。

雲一つない青空が眩しいほどでしたが、

日々の買い物ついでにスタッフT が出かけたのは夕方でした。

（なんてもったいない！）

名古屋市に住んでいる方なら知る人ぞ知る平和公園の梅園に立ち寄ってきましたよ。

風光舎からならば車で１０分程でしょうか。最寄駅は自由が丘です。

駅からは少し遠いのですが桜園の先に梅園があるのです。

2ブロック程のちょっとした広さがあって満開時はなかなか見事です。

まだまだ咲き始めたところですが、

何本かの梅の木はハッとするほど綺麗に花開いて、とても良い香りが漂っておりました。

その梅園の近くの丘の上には平和堂という御堂がありまして、

ここからの景色が意外と良い眺めです。

京都で言えば、将軍塚でしょうか？（隠れた名所ですよね！）
