皆さま、「花の兄」って言葉を聞いたことございますでしょうか？

スタッフＴは、昨年２月の茶道のお稽古で、お茶勺の銘に使わせていただきました。

梅の別名なんです。早春に他の花に先駆けて咲くので、このように呼ぶのですね。

 

じゃあ、梅・桃・桜の順で咲いていくのだから、

弟たちは桃や桜かな～なんて思っていたら、

「花の弟」は菊の花の喩えでした。

その年の最初と最後に咲くから兄と弟ってことなんですね。

そして、「花の父母」とは、「雨」や「露」のことだそうです。

それらが草や木を潤して育てることから生まれた言葉だとか。

そのおかげで美しく花開くことが出来るんですね。

他にも、花笑み　花色衣　花筏　花吹雪　花霞・・・

日本語には花に関する素敵な言葉がいろいろあります。
スタッフＴがいつも楽しみにしていた茶道の稽古は、
年初より先生の御配慮でお休みが続いております。
茶室の緊張感のある雰囲気が懐かしく思い出されることです。

名古屋市でもワクチン接種が始まりました。

Have you ever heard the word “older brother of the flower”?

Staff T has used it as a name for the  bamboo teaspoon at the tea ceremony lesson in February last year.

It’s another name for plum. It blooms before other flowers in early spring, so it’s called this way.

 

Well, the plums, peaches, and cherry blossoms will bloom in that order in spring. If plum’s younger brothers were vaguely wondering if they were peaches or cherry blossoms ” younger brother of the flowerr” was a metaphor for chrysanthemum flowers. It’s come from  the first and the last of the year. (Ume is the older brother of flowers, Kiku is the younger brother of flowers (“Parables”, a proverbial dictionary of the late Edo period, Tenmei 6 (1786) introduction~))

 

And “parents of flowers” are “rain” and ” dew “.

It is said that the word was born from the fact that they moisturizes and grows grass and trees.

Thanks to that, beautiful flowers can bloom.

 

flower smiles=come into bloom, flower-colored clothes, flower raft=a mass of petals floating on the surface of the water, hanafubuki=cherry blossoms falling in the wind・・・There are many beautiful words about flowers in Japanese.

The tea ceremony practice that I have always been looking forward to has been closed since the beginning of the year due to the declaration of an emergency. I miss the tense but peaceful atmosphere of the tea room. Vaccination has also started in Nagoya. I hope our daily lives will return as soon as possible.
