皆さまは名品にまつわる歴史エピソードなどはお好きでしょうか。

 

フランス宮廷のファッションリーダー、マリー・アントワネット。

そのセンスは宝石や時計にも存分に発揮されていたようです。

現存する最古のジュエラーといわれる”メリレオ”。

このメリレオが王室御用達になった経緯も王妃との劇的な出会いがあったからこそ。

ジュエラーの感性や技術をひとめで見抜く審美眼の持ち主、マリーアントワネットによる偶然のお声かけがきっかけのようです。

（なにか感じ取った時がやはりチャンスなのですね！）

 

創り手の才能を見抜き支援する彼女がいくつも所有していたのが宮廷時計師として活躍していたブレゲの時計だそうです。

ブレゲが王妃に捧げた究極の自動巻き時計「No.160」。

この時計は1783年に「時間も費用も制約はつけないので、あらゆる時計技術の枠を極めた最高の時計を」とオーダーされたのが誕生の始まりだったとのこと。

（ミニッツリピーター、永久カレンダーをはじめ当時考え得る機能の全てが搭載されていたすごい時計！）

そしてこの時計が完成したのは、注文を受けてから44年、王妃が亡くなってから34年後の1827年だそうです。

突飛なような、気が遠くなるような、でもオーダーには忠実でありますね ^^

一度エルサレムの美術館から盗まれてしまったようですが、24年後発見され、現在はL・A・メイヤー記念イスラム美術館が所有しているとのことです。

 

時代を超えて現代に伝えられるエピソードを知ると、何倍もその名品に深みが増すと思います。

ロマンがあっていいですよね(笑)

Marie Antoinette, fashion leader of the French court.

Her sense seems to have been fully demonstrated in her jewelry and watches.

“Meri Leo” is said to be the oldest jeweler in existence.

The reason why Meri Leo became a purveyor to the royal family is because he had a dramatic encounter with the queen.

It seems that Marie Antoinette, the owner of the aesthetic eye who can see the jeweler’s sensibility and technique at a glance, accidentally called out.

(When you feel something, you have a chance!)

 

It is said that Breguet watches, which were active as court watchmakers, were owned by her, who helped to identify and support her creator’s talents.

The ultimate self-winding watch “No.160” dedicated to the Queen by Breguet.

It was said that this watch was born in 1783 when it was ordered as “the best watch that has the best frame of all watch technology because there are no restrictions on time or cost”.

(A great clock equipped with all the functions that could be considered at that time, including minute repeaters and perpetual calendars!)

And this watch was completed in 1827, 44 years after receiving the order and 34 years after the death of the queen.

It’s ridiculous, mind-boggling, but faithful to the order ^^

It seems that it was once stolen from the museum in Jerusalem, but it was discovered 24 years later and is now owned by the LA Mayer Memorial Museum of Islamic Art.

 

If you know the episodes that are passed down through the ages to the present day, I think that the depth of the masterpiece will increase many times.

It’s nice to have a romance! lol
