先日、TVにておりましたら、北陸新幹線延伸を来年2024年春に控えたJR敦賀駅前に2022年9月に福井県敦賀市の公設書店「ちえなみき」（正式名称はTSURUGA BOOKS & COMMONS ちえなみき）がオープンしたそうでして、北陸新幹線延伸も気になりますがこちらもちょっと気になりました。

 

全国的にも珍しい、自治体による“公設書店”であることに加え、「編集工学」を提唱する松岡正剛氏が所長を務める編集工学研究所が指定管理者のチーム*に加わっていることなどで注目を集め、オープン前後を中心に「ちえなみき」は多くのメディアで取り上げられており、昨今の書籍をめぐる状況を思いますと、またまた新しい試みですね。

 

先日も某書店内にある某カフェでお茶をしながら本を手に取ったりしておりました。ワーキングスペースを拡充していたりと、本屋さんはただ本を探すスペースだけでなく、「本」と共に過ごすスペースと化しており、気に入っている方もおおく利用している方もいらっしゃるのではないでしょうか。

 

昨今、携帯なので書籍を購入し読むことや購入することもできますが、「ちえなみき」は公設の本屋さんでありますが、私の訪れた某書店や、公設の図書館などももはや「本」とかかわる場面の選択肢が増えたことにちょっとうれしい気がします。

 

というのも自分も本屋に行きますと、見たこともない知らない、たまには興味もないジャンルのタイトルの本を手にとり、ちょっとページをぱらぱらとめくってみたり、装丁に見入ってしまったり、ちょっと興味が湧いてきて購入しようか迷ったり、と、傍から見ると完全におかしな人。

ですが、それぞれの本の脳内や世界観を垣間見る時間がとても楽しくて、ちょっとした異次元にワープし、あっという間に時間が何時間もたっていたり。

 

知りたいもの欲しいものが最速に手に入ることもとても便利で必要な場合も多々ありますが、こうやって私のように無駄な本選びの時間もそれはそれで楽しく、世界を広げてくれますもで、「本」だけでなく「本」に関わる場面の選択も大賛成だなと、TVを眺めながらうなずいておりました。

 

それにしても新幹線開通でホットな福井県、行ってみたくなりましたね。

The other day, I picked up a book while having tea at a certain cafe inside a certain bookstore. I think that many people like to use bookstores because they are not only spaces to look for books, but also spaces to spend time with books.

 

Nowadays, you can buy and read books on your cell phone, and although “Chienamiki” is a public bookstore, I am happy to see that there are now more options to interact with “books” at certain bookstores and public libraries that I have visited.

 

When I go to a bookstore, I pick up a book of an unfamiliar or sometimes uninteresting genre, flip through the pages, admire the binding, or become a little curious and wonder if I should buy it.

However, I really enjoy the time I spend glimpsing into the brain and world of each book, and I find myself warped into a different dimension, where time passes in a blink of an eye for hours.

 

It is often very convenient and necessary to be able to get what you want and what you need as quickly as possible, but time wasted on choosing books, as I did, is fun in its own way and expands your world. I was nodding my head as I watched the TV.
