ここ数日お天気が良く、大物の洗濯には絶好の日が続いておりますが、残念なことに季節外れの黄砂が飛来しているらしく外に干すのは躊躇されます。最近の目のかゆみも黄砂のせいでしょうか。この冬は暖冬の傾向で、中国大陸の高気圧の勢力が弱まり、上昇気流が発生して砂漠の砂が舞い上がり黄砂をもたらすと考えられています。暖冬だと喜んでばかりはいられないのですね。

さて、最近店に新しく素敵な時計が仲間入りしました。ジャガー・ルクルトの「ATMOS（アトモス）」シリーズの置時計です。人気の高級腕時計は私には高価すぎて遠い世界に思えますが、この置時計は少しアジアのテイストを感じ親近感がわきます。蜂が立体的で可愛らしく、草花が柔らかい線で繊細かつ緻密に施されており見ていて飽きないデザインです。

 

 

 

 

ジャガー・ルクルトは１８３３年にスイスのジュウ渓谷に拠点を置く高級時計ブランドです。時計を製造する機械の設計からスタートし、次第に時計の部品の製作や自社による時計の製作を行うようになっていきます。多くの時計メーカーが自社製造を中止するなか、自社一貫製造を行い、高い技術に基づく緻密でエレガントな時計は世界中で愛されています。人気の高級腕時計製造と同じように機械式の置時計製造にも力を注いできたそうです。

最近のアトモスのモデルではエルメス、バカラ、マーク・ニューソンなどとも提携し、かつてはスイス政府から各国首脳やローマ教皇への公式贈答品として高い評価を受けてきました。

一般的に時計を動かすには電源を用意したりゼンマイを巻き上げたりといった作業が必要ですが、アトモスは気温の変化を動力源として半永久的に動き続ける時計なのだそうです。盤面の下に方に見える円筒状のバランスホイールが特徴の一つです。　後ろの密封されたカプセル内に混合ガスが充填されており、気温の変化を受けてカプセルが膨張したり収縮したりします。これに連結したチェーンによりムーブメントを効率的に巻き上げる…。文章では理解が少し難しいですね。ただアトモスが凄い所は、気温が上下１℃変化するだけで４８時間のエネルギーを蓄えることができ、高い省エネ性を備えているということなのだそうです。

 

 

 

 

 

 

アトモスの心臓部の振り子は１分間に２回と非常にゆっくりと動き、消費エネルギーが極めて僅かなのです。そのため環境にも優しい時計とも言えます。

 

調べるほどに、繊細な置時計だと分かり触るのが怖くなりました。そーっと持ってみましたが、時計とは思えない重さで、動かすなと言われているようでした。

The weather has been fine for the past few days, perfect for washing large items, but unfortunately, unseasonal yellow dust seems to be flying in, making me hesitant to hang my clothes outside to dry. I wonder if the recent itchiness in my eyes is also due to the yellow dust. It is believed that this winter has a tendency to be mild, and that the high pressure system over the Chinese continent is weakening, creating an updraft that will cause desert sand to fly up and bring yellow sand with it. We can’t be too happy about the mild winter, can we?

Well, a nice new watch has recently joined our store. It is a table clock from the ATMOS series by Jaeger-LeCoultre. Popular luxury watches are too expensive for me and seem far away from my world, but this clock has a little bit of Asian taste that makes me feel familiar. The bee is three-dimensional and lovely, and the flowers and grasses are delicately and intricately decorated with soft lines, making for a design that I never get tired of looking at.

Jaeger-LeCoultre is a luxury watch brand based in the Joux Valley in Switzerland since 1833. The company began by designing the machines used to manufacture watches, and gradually began manufacturing watch components and producing its own watches. While many watchmakers have stopped manufacturing their own watches, they have continued to manufacture their own watches, and their precise and elegant timepieces based on high technology are loved around the world. They have been focusing on the manufacture of mechanical table clocks as well as the production of popular luxury wristwatches.

Recent Atmos models have partnered with Hermes, Baccarat, Marc Newson, and others, and in the past they were highly regarded as official gifts from the Swiss government to heads of state and the Pope.

Generally, a watch requires a power source and winding a spring to run, but ATMOS is said to be a semi-permanent watch powered by changes in temperature. The cylindrical balance wheel visible at the bottom of the dial is one of its features.　The sealed capsule behind it is filled with a gas mixture, which expands and contracts in response to changes in temperature. A chain connected to this effectively winds up the movement…. It is a little difficult to understand in writing. But the amazing thing about ATMOS is that it can store energy for 48 hours with only a 1°C change in temperature up or down, making it highly energy efficient.

The pendulum at the heart of ATMOS moves very slowly, twice a minute, and consumes very little energy. This makes it an environmentally friendly watch.

The more I examined the clock, the more I realized that it was a delicate table clock, and I was afraid to touch it. I held it gently, but it was so heavy that I didn’t think it was a clock, and it was as if it was telling me not to move it.
