暖かい春までもう少しという今日この頃でしょうか。

 

本日は、骨董・古美術とは一見関わりのないような宇宙の話しです。笑

先日、NASAの火星探査ミッション「マーズ2020」の探査車『Perseverance（パーセベランス、パーサヴィアランス）』　が、火星のイシディス平原西端にあるジェゼロ・クレーターへの着陸に成功したとのニュースが出ました。

着陸直後に届いたモノクロ画像に続き、Perseverance （＝火星の岩石を収集する火星探査機）が撮影した最初のカラー画像などがNASAのジェット推進研究所（JPL）から公開されています。

Perseverance が火星に降り立つ様子や、地面の様子が高解像度なフルカラー画像で収められているようです。

なんだか遥か遠くではものすごい技術を駆使し、ものすごいことをやっていますね！

そして、Perseverance  が火星への降下中に撮影した動画や、初めて録音された音も公開しているとのこと。

スタッフ I 、この画像を見た感想＿火星版ロビンソン・クルーソーとも呼ばれる長編小説「火星の人」を原作とする、映画「オデッセイ」のまんまじゃないか！と思いました。

というのも、NASAの惑星科学部長（すごい役職ですね笑）のジェームズ・L・グリーンは、”「火星の人」は程々に現実的だ”と述べているそう。

科学的正確性も併せ持っているほど、ストーリーの面白味が増すのでしょうね。

 

地球人はどうしてこんなにも火星火星！と惹きけられているのかと思うことがあります。

科学の進展によって様々な真相が解明されつつも、一般人からしたら謎だらけですよね。

ますます神話的魅力を増していると言われる惑星。

古来より人間は未知のものにロマンを感じたりしてきたのでしょうね。

 

ここで古美術話…

骨董品や古美術品は人からひとへ渡っていく過程で、それぞれに思いを巡らしたり、こんな人がこんな風に使っていたのかなと想像を膨らませたり、新品には無いエピソードを考えるのが面白さの一つだと思います。

時には勝手に自分だけの歴史を作ってみたり…

そういう点では、遥か彼方の宇宙も身近にある古美術品も人々を魅了する共通部分があるんじゃないかとこじつけてみました笑。

That’s because NASA’s director of planetary science  James L. Greens said, “The” people of Mars “are reasonably realistic.”

The more scientifically accurate it is, the more interesting the story will be.
