クイズです。ここは、何の施設でしょう？

 

 

答えは、図書館。カフェではありません笑。岐阜県や近県の方は、ご存知でしょうね。

古美術風光舎　名古屋店のあります名古屋市内から車で1時間半、お隣岐阜県に2015年に開館しました『みんなの森　ぎふメディアコスモス』の中にあります、岐阜市立中央図書館です。

6年前に開館しましたがなかなか訪れることができず、やっとの訪問。密を避け、また、夜が素敵とのことで夜の訪問にいたしました。

 

 

設計を手掛けたのは、建築界のノーベル賞”と称されるプリツカー賞を受賞した伊東豊雄さん。伊藤豊雄設計事務所です。

伊東豊雄さんは、せんだいメディアパークや、松本市民芸術館など国内外の建造物を手掛けていらっしゃる有名な建築家でして、

落ち着いたらこちらの図書館は一度は見に行かねばと思っておりました。

 

図書館に入るとまず目に飛び込んでくるのは、天井から吊るされた巨大な傘のような〝グローブ〟とよばれるもので、図書館の象徴的な存在となっております。11個のグローブにそれぞれ名前がついており、「文学のグローブ」「展示グローブ」「ゆったりグローブ」など、それぞれのグローブの模様が違っていて、そのグローブは入り口の案内板と対応しており、本を探す時に便利ですね。グローブの大きさは、行って体感してみてください笑。

しかしこのグローブ、視覚的なインパクトを与えるだけだけで無く、その機能もしっかりとした意味がありました。

上部は開閉式で季節ごとに自然喚起できるようになっており、グローブの中に立つと、空気が流れているのが体感できます。

また、そのグローブに沿って本棚が渦巻く様に配置しており、奥と手前の本の背表紙がしっかりと見え、無意識に本が探しやすくなっておるではないか！

本棚も低めに設定しており、図書館の全景が見渡せ開放感も抜群。

 

 

それから、なんといってもこの天井。緩やかに曲線を描いており、たわんだ天井の印影がグローブを大きく包み込んでいます。

 

 

構造は、地元の銘木「東濃ヒノキ」を使った細長い板状の木材を組み上げ、木材が自然にたわむ力を利用してこのような形状を保っているとか。図書館建設時、ちょうど東日本大震災直後で材不足だったこともあり、比較的とりやすい長い板を利用する設計にしたそうです。このたわんだ天井、私は時空が歪んだような感覚になるのですが、木材でできているせいからか柔らかく暖かい印象で、この歪んだ空間に包まれててもいいと思ってしまうのは、私だけでしょうか。

図書館は夜でしたから人もまばらでしたが、目的の違う様々な年代の方がそれぞれゆっくりと居心地よく過ごしておりましたね。

スタッフYもしばし、このグローブの下で本を読んでおりましたが、夜に来て正解でした。ほんのりあかりのついたグローブの下はあたたかな祠のようで、何故だか広い空間にも関わらず、本にとても集中できます。いつまでも居たくなる居心地のよい図書館でした。ご近所の方羨ましいですね。

The Gifu City Central Library is located in “Minna no Mori Gifu Media Cosmos”, which opened in 2015 in neighboring Gifu prefecture, an hour’s drive from Nagoya city, where the Fukosha Nagoya store is located.

It opened 6 years ago, but I couldn’t visit it easily, so I finally visited. I decided to visit at night because I avoided the crowds and said that the night was wonderful.

The design was done by Toyo Ito, who won the Pritzker Prize, which is called the “Nobel Prize in the architectural world.” Toyo Ito Design Office.

Toyo Ito is a famous architect who works on domestic and foreign buildings such as Sendai Media Park and Matsumoto Performing Arts Center.

When I calmed down, I thought I should go to see this library once.

When you enter the library, the first thing that comes to your eyes is what is called a “glove” that looks like a huge umbrella hung from the ceiling, and has become a symbol of the library. Each of the 11 gloves has a name, and each glove has a different pattern such as “literary glove”, “exhibition glove”, and “loose glove”, and the glove corresponds to the information board at the entrance. , It’s convenient when looking for a book. Please go and experience the size of the glove.

However, this glove not only gave a visual impact, but its function also had a solid meaning.

The upper part is openable so that you can naturally arouse each season, and when you stand in the glove, you can feel the air flowing.

In addition, the bookshelves are arranged so that they swirl along the glove, and the spine of the books in the back and front can be seen clearly, making it easier to find books unconsciously!

The bookshelf is also set low so that you can see the whole view of the library and the feeling of openness is outstanding.

After all, this ceiling. It draws a gentle curve and wraps the glove greatly.

The locals also assemble elongated plate-shaped wood using the famous wood “Tono Hinoki” and use the force of the wood to bend naturally to maintain this shape. When the library was constructed, there was a shortage of materials just after the Great East Japan Earthquake, so it was designed to use a long board that is relatively easy to take. This flexible ceiling makes me feel that space-time is distorted, but because it is made of wood, it gives a soft and warm impression, and I want to be surrounded by this distorted space. Is it just?

The library was sparse because it was night, but people of various ages with different purposes were spending time and comfort.

Staff Y I used to read a book under this glove, but I came at night and the answer was correct. Under the glove with a slight light, it looks like a warm shrine, and for some reason, despite the large space, you can concentrate on the book very much. It was a cozy library that made me want to stay forever. I envy the neighbors.
