先日から、弊店のブログやSNSにて時々印籠が登場しております。

 

 

 

 

印籠なんて生まれて初めて手にしましたので、面白がって水戸黄門のワンシーンのように「ええぃ頭が高い、 この紋どころが目に入らぬか。」などと懐から取り出し、印籠を突きつけるの決め台詞の茶番をやってみたりして、ちょっと楽しんでおりました。（大人げない笑）

 

こちらの印籠は蒔絵の施された素敵な印籠なのですが、そもそも印籠は腰に提げて貴重品を携行するもののようでしたが、主に薬入れていたようで薬籠（やくろう）ともいうそうです。蓋（ふた）と本体（3重または5重のものが多い）の穴に紐（ひも）を通し、紐の先端には根付けを付けて滑り止めとしたりして、安土桃山時代（1568～1603）から用いられ、元禄（1688～1704）のころには武士のファッションとして定着したそうです。

 

材質は漆塗り、陶製のもの、金属製のものなど多様なのですが、多くは華麗な蒔絵（まきえ）や根付が施されており、当時のお洒落アイテムだったんだろうな…ということはこのデザインからも推察できます。

 

印籠がどういうものかはわかったとして、印籠とえば水戸黄門。あの時代劇のシーンにておいて重要なのはあの「葵の御紋」だったということなのでしょう。印籠をつきつけるシーンは作り話だとして何故に印籠になったのか…？なんてちょっと疑問の思ってきたのですが。

 

その前に家紋が誕生したのは平安時代からなのですが、その文化が大きく発展したのは敵味方を見分ける必要のあった戦国時代で、戦の中で旗や鎧、兜、弓、剣などに印されております。家紋によって武士が自分の能力をアピールできる意味合いもあり、戦で活躍した武士はより家格の高い家紋を賜ることができ、それによって絆を深め、その紋章に準じた待遇を受けることもできたのだそうですから、家紋はいわば当時の家柄の身分証明書、「葵の御紋」なんてついていようものなら役付きの肩書がついた名刺のようなものだったんでしょうね。

 

だとしたら「葵の御紋」が印されたものだったらなんでもよかったんじゃないかな？なんて思ったりしたのですが、当時の大切に携帯していもののアイテムである印籠に「葵の御紋」がついているのですから、これ以上説得力のある身分証明書はないということでしょうか。

 

 

 

 

そしてなによりも格さん（たぶん）が葵の御紋入りの印籠をつきだすあのシーンは今さら印籠の他のアイテムでキメることはちょっとできないな…。と思うくらい脳内にかなり染み付いているのですが、皆様も水戸黄門のあの名シーンの印籠のあのポーズが、もし他のアイテムだったら…などと想像しながら今一度見直してみてください。

Since the other day, Inro has been appearing on our blog and SNS from time to time.

I was so amused that I pulled it out of my pocket and thrust it at him like a scene from “Mito Komon” (a popular Japanese comic strip show). I would pull it out of my pocket and thrust the Inro at him. I was having a bit of fun. (not very mature lol).

 

Inro was originally used to carry valuables around the waist, but it is said that it was mainly used to store medicines and was also called “Yakuro” (medicine basket). A string was threaded through the holes in the lid and body (often three or five-layered), and a netsuke was attached to the end of the string to prevent it from slipping.

The materials used for the Inro varied, including lacquered lacquer, ceramics, and metal, but most of them were decorated with gorgeous makie (gold-relief lacquer) and netsuke, and we can infer from the designs that they must have been a fashionable item at that time.

 

Now that we know what an Inro is, I guess the important thing in the scene of Mito Komon was the Aoi no Gomon, but if the scene where the Inro is pointed at is a myth, why did it become an Inro…? I am beginning to wonder why it became an “inro” if the scene in which he puts an inro to the man is a fiction…?

 

Before that, family crests were first created in the Heian period (794-1192). It was during the Warring States period, when it was necessary to distinguish friend from foe, that the culture of family crests developed greatly, and they were used to mark flags, armor, helmets, bows, swords, etc. in battle. Therefore, a family crest was, so to speak, an identification card of the family at that time, and a “hollyhock crest” must have been like a business card with a title of an official.

If so, anything with a “hollyhock crest” on it would have been fine. However, since the “Aoi no Gomon” is on the Inro, which was a very important item to be carried in those days, there is no more convincing identification card, is there?

 

And above all, the scene in which Tadasu-san (probably) holds out the Inro with Aoi no Gomon on it, I can’t use any other Inro items to make a good impression now…. I would like to ask you all to take a look at it again, imagining what it would be like if the Inro pose in that famous scene in Mito Komon had been made with another item.

昨日今日と朝は思いの外冷え込みましたが、晴れて爽やかなお天気です。出勤の途中、山崎川で鯉のぼりが気持ち良さそうに泳いでおりましたよ。

 

 

さてさて、風薫る５月がお誕生日の方、誕生石はエメラルドですね。

”幸福を招く石”、”神秘のヒーリングストーン”として知られるエメラルド。和名は翠玉、緑玉。結婚55周年の結婚記念石でもあります。

神秘的かつ透明感溢れる緑の輝きで、古くから人々に愛されてきた宝石は、人を健康に導く力があると信じられていたとか。

一度は憧れた女性も多いのでは？

幼い子が描くお姫さまには、緑色をした首飾りを描いてみたりと、謎を秘めているかのような色には自然と引き込まれているのでしょうか。

 

その謎のパワー、なぜ魅了されるのか…。

絶世の美女と謳われる古代エジプトの女王クレオパトラもエメラルドを愛用していたことは有名です。
エメラルドジュエリーで着飾るだけではなく、粉末にしたエメラルドをアイシャドウにして化粧にも使用していました。
美しいグリーンの魅力に取りつかれたクレオパトラのエメラルド愛は、自身の名を付けたエメラルド鉱山「クレオパトラ鉱山」を所有していたほど。 この鉱山は、1818年にフランス人によって発見され実在が証明されています。
一説では、クレオパトラは実は美女では無かったという話もあります。 もしかしたら、エメラルドの力で魅力をアップさせ、男性を虜にしていったのかもしれません。

 

そしてエメラルドは、富と権力の象徴でもあったとされ、世界４大宝石にも数えられています。

ローマ帝国時代の「博物誌」（博物学者・プリニウス著）では、ダイヤと真珠に次ぐ、第三の宝石とされているとも…

実際、ポンペイなどのローマ帝国時代の遺跡からはエメラルド製品がよく出土しているそうです。

 

 

自分の誕生石を身につけた方がいいのかと勝手に思っていましたが、カラーストーンのジュエリーは、その生まれ月でなくても、直感で惹かれたものに気持ちを託すことができるそう。

若々しいエネルギーを宿すエメラルドは、心身のバランスを安定させ、ストレスを取り除くヒーリング効果の高い石として伝えられてきたとのこと。

冷静な感情をもたらすエネルギーから、”叡智”を象徴する石としても知られ、身につける人のビジョンを実現するための知恵や勇気ある行動を助けるとも言われているそうです。

It was unexpectedly cold in the morning yesterday and today, but the weather is sunny and refreshing. On my way to work, I saw carp streamers swimming along the Yamazaki River.

Now, for those of you whose birthdays fall in the breezy month of May, your birthstone is an emerald.
Emerald is known as a “stone that brings happiness” and a “mysterious healing stone. Its Japanese name is Sui-yoku (green jade) or Midori-yoku (green jade). It is also the wedding anniversary stone of our 55th wedding anniversary.

People have long loved this gemstone for its mysterious and transparent green glow, and it was believed to have the power to lead people to good health.
Many women may have admired them at one time or another.
Are they naturally drawn to the color that seems to hold mystery, as when a young child draws a green-colored necklace for a princess?

What is its mysterious power, and why are we attracted to it…?
It is well known that Cleopatra, the queen of ancient Egypt, who was claimed to be an immensely beautiful woman, was also a fan of emeralds.
Not only did she dress herself in emerald jewelry, but she also used powdered emeralds as eye shadow and for makeup.

このところ洋酒を買取ってほしいというお客様のご依頼もございまして、ウィスキーなどの洋酒がちょっと気になっております。

 

とくに昨今のウィスキーブーム、その中でもジャパニーズウイスキーは国際的な賞を相次いで受賞したということもあり、海外からも熱い視線が注がれたいへん高騰しているようです。

そのなかでも有名なものですと、サントリーの山崎・響・白州、ニッカウヰスキーの竹鶴・余市・宮城峡あたりは有名どころですが、先日お値段を調べますと、もう一般市民には手の届かぬ存在のようでした笑。

 

ところで、2024年2月現在で日本には開業準備中も含め114カ所のウイスキー蒸留所が存在していることをご存知だったでしょうか。国産ウイスキーに対する海外からの注目度はまだまだ高い状態ということで、それに伴いジャパニーズクラフトウイスキー蒸留所の開業ラッシュが続いております。

 

先日、富山県に唯一ある三郎丸蒸留所へ行って参りました。

 

 

 

 

三郎丸蒸留所の母体は作酒屋の若鶴酒造なのですが、実はウイスキーをはじめとした蒸留酒の研究をスタートしたのは1947年。1953年に発売された初の自社ウイスキー「サンシャインウイスキー」は発売から70年以上を経つとのことのこと。2016年に老朽化していた蒸留所を改修し、昨今は高岡銅器の技術を活かして世界初の鋳造製蒸留器を開発したり、富山県産ミズナラ材を用いた「三四郎樽」を使用したりと、富山産のものにこだわった蒸留所のようです。

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

館内は先日訪れたサントリー白州蒸留所と比べますとこじんまりしておりますが、蒸留所の見学やガチャガチャでオリジナルお猪口を購入し、ティスティングをすることもできます。作酒屋の雰囲気も残しつつ隣の建物ではそんなお酒を堪能しながら食事もできるようでして、最近の蒸留所はどこも訪れたくなるよう素敵な空間にしております。

 

 

 

 

また、蒸留所へ行く楽しみの一つが蒸留所でしか購入することができない限定ウィスキーの購入なのですが、大概ラベルやパッケージも限定デザインだったりと色々テンションが上がります。先日訪れた白州の限定酒もそれぞれナンバリングがされており購入できた達成感が半端なかったので、ここでもはずせません。

 

というわけで早速購入。三郎丸蒸留所はスモーキーフレーバーにこだわっているということでして個人的には楽しみなティスト。富山の空気と共に車にて連れて帰ることと致しましたが、帰りの車の中ではすでに次に訪れたい蒸留所を調べていたりと、どんどん沼っていく自分に気が付きました。

 

 

 

 

その前に帰って三郎丸のティスティングをせねばいけませんね。

Recently, we have been receiving requests from customers who want us to purchase Western-style liquors, and we are a bit concerned about Western-style liquors such as whiskey.

 

Especially in the recent whisky boom, Japanese whisky has won a number of international awards, and is attracting a great deal of attention from overseas, and the price of whisky is soaring.

Among them, Suntory’s Yamazaki, Hibiki, and Hakushu, and Nikka Whisky’s Taketsuru, Yoichi, and Miyagikyo are the most famous ones, but when I checked their prices the other day, they seemed to be out of reach for the general public.

 

By the way, did you know that as of February 2024, there are 114 whiskey distilleries in Japan, including those in preparation for opening? This means that overseas attention to domestically produced whiskey is still high, and with that, the rush to open Japanese craft whiskey distilleries is continuing.

 

The other day, I visited the only distillery in Toyama Prefecture, Saburomaru Distillery.

The parent company of Saburomaru Distillery is Wakatsuru Shuzo, a sake brewery, but they actually started researching whiskey and other distilled spirits in 1947. The distillery was renovated in 2016, and recently they developed the world’s first cast distillation vessel using Takaoka copperware technology, and they use “Sanshiro barrels” made of Mizunara oak from Toyama Prefecture, so it seems that the distillery focuses on things made in Toyama.

 

The inside of the distillery is smaller than the Suntory Hakushu Distillery that we visited the other day, but you can take a tour of the distillery, purchase an original boar cup from the “gacha-gacha” machine, and have a tasting. You can also enjoy a meal while enjoying such drinks in the building next door, while still retaining the atmosphere of a sake brewery.

 

One of the pleasures of visiting a distillery is to purchase limited edition whisky, which can only be purchased at the distillery, and the labels and packaging are usually of a limited design, which makes me very excited. The Hakushu limited edition whisky I visited the other day was also numbered, and I felt a great sense of accomplishment when I purchased it, so I couldn’t miss it here.

 

So I bought it right away. Saburomaru distillery is known for its smoky flavor, and I was personally looking forward to this distillery. On the way back to the distillery, I was already looking up distilleries I wanted to visit next, and I found myself getting more and more swamped.

 

Before that, I have to go back and taste Saburomaru.

本日は太陽も顔を出し快適なお天気、と期待して外に出ましたが強風にあおられ日傘が飛ばされそうになりました。外に出るまで油断はできません。

さて先日より当店では目新しいお品が増え、普段目にすることができないものもあり繁々と眺めております。目が合ってしまったのはこちらの根付の猿。ちょっと強面で一瞬ぎょっとしてしまいました。よく見ると足元に亀を押さえつけております。それでこの形相なのですね。

 

 

 

 

裏側を見ると亀のお腹も精巧に彫られており、やはり３６０度どこから見ても隙がありません。

 

 

 

 

江戸時代、着物の帯に巾着やたばこ入れ、印籠などを下げて持ち歩きました。その提物を落ちないように紐で留める留め具が根付でした。実用品ですが、美意識の高い江戸の人々がその芸術性を高め、根付師と呼ばれる専門の職人により精巧で緻密な技の結晶として発展していきました。その世界観は自由で、多様なデザインにより個性を競い合いました。特に人気なのが、形彫（かたぼり）根付で七福神のような神や縁起の良い動物などをかたどったものです。

根付の魅力は何と言っていも手で触れられることで、年々色が変化し、摩耗して少し飴色になった状態を根付用語で「なれ」とよばれ、たくさん触ることで価値が増すともいわれています。風光舎の猿の根付もたくさん触れられたようです。

Today the sun came out and the weather was pleasant, but a strong wind blew my parasol away. You can never be too careful until you get outside.

The other day, we started to see new items in our store, some of which are not usually seen in the market. My eyes fell on this netsuke monkey. He looked a bit tough, and for a moment I was taken aback. If you look closely, you can see that he is holding a tortoise at his feet. That is why he looks like this.

Looking at the back side, the turtle’s belly is also elaborately carved, and there is no gap from any angle of 180 degrees.

In the Edo period, people carried a purse, cigarette case, inro (seal case), etc., on the belt of their kimono. Netsuke were used to fasten these items to the belt with a string so that they would not fall off. Although a utilitarian item, netsuke were developed as a crystallization of elaborate and precise techniques by specialized craftsmen called netsuke-shi, as people in Edo, with their high sense of beauty, developed their artistry. The world view of netsuke was free, and the various designs competed with each other for individuality. Especially popular are katabori netsuke, which are decorated with gods such as the Seven Deities of Good Fortune and other auspicious animals.

The charm of netsuke is that they can be touched. The color of netsuke changes over the years, and the slightly candy-colored state after wear is called “nare” in netsuke terminology, and it is said that the more you touch the netsuke, the more valuable it becomes. It seems that many people touched the netsuke of monkeys at Fukosha.

本日名古屋は朝から雨。連休明けは肌寒いスタートとなりました。

皆さま、連休はいかがでしたか？リフレッシュできましたでしょうか？

今日からお仕事、学校の方、休み明けで通常モードに戻すのが大変かもしれませんが、一緒に頑張りましょう！

 

 

さて、私はこの連休中は、重い腰を上げ、「実家」と向き合っておりました。同じようにご実家のお片付けをされた方、勝手に同志のように思っております。

 

私にとっての実家は、「居ても落ち着かない」「家に上がって座り込むのはお盆とお正月くらい」と、残念ながら居心地が悪く、将来自分が帰ってくる場所とは思えませんでした。

モノを捨てられない母に対して思うことはあれど、親の暮らしは親のもの、私は私、と割り切っていたところがあったように思います。

ところが数年前に母の病気から実家に通わざるを得なくなりました。そこで目にした親の暮らしの現実。「このままじゃやばい」と思った瞬間でございます。

今日はそんな実家の片付けに向き合い、気づいたことについて綴ってみたいと思いますので、よろしければお付き合いください。

 

何から手を付けたかと言いますと、まずは、残ったままになっていた自分の荷物を処分するところから始まりまして、素手で触るのははばかられるような水回りをコツコツ、コツコツ、本当に少しずつ掃除を繰り返していきました。

ところが、やっていると、やはり「やりたくないけど、やってあげてる」感は出てきてしまうわけで･･･

そんな時は「やってほしくないけど、やらせてあげてる」感丸出しの母とよく険悪な雰囲気になりました。

 

母は自分の家だから、私が片付けようとすると、自分が動かされるものだと思い、別に片付けたくないのに面倒くさいことをされてると思っていたんでしょう。物を動かしたり、処分したりといったことをそれはそれは嫌がりまして、機嫌がものすごく悪くなるんです。ですが、掃除してスッキリして綺麗になれば、素直にありがとうと言ってくれました。

 

そうやってお掃除から始めて、少しずつ母からの信頼を勝ち得まして、徐々に食器をはじめ大量のアレコレを処分していったわけなんですが･･･。そこで、私の悪い癖がでまして。「どうせその作業をするなら、他に効率悪くて困ってる収納とかもこの際片付けちゃえば？」と提案してしまったのです。

 

例えば、母は毎日着替えをタンスの一番下の引き出しから腰をかがめて取っていたし、両親の衣類は、なぜだか何カ所にも分けて置かれているし、もう少し動線を少なくできるだろうと私は思ったわけです。

 

この時、実家の片付けにおいて重要なことを学びました。高齢となった両親にとって、「捨てる・動かす・減らす」はＮＧワードなのです。

いかに相手の需要に応える形に持っていくかが重要なのだと気づきました。いくら両親のためと思っての行動だとしても、両親にとっては、ただのありがた迷惑ということも多いのです。片付けた結果のメリットだけを説明したり、あくまでも動くのは私であることを強調したりということも必要でした。

 

という訳で、両親に「この際、困ってるところも一緒に改善しようよ、何かある？」と、わたしにとっては最大の優しい口調で聞きましたら、

「なーんにも、ない！」と言われてしまったのです。

 

片付けには個人それぞれのタイミングがやっぱりあって、そうでないタイミングで頑張ってしまうと空回りしてしまうものなんですよね。

と、これは数年前の話で、ここから「片づけたい」と思わせることに成功したのですが…。

It has been raining in Nagoya since this morning. It was a chilly start to the consecutive holidays.

How was your holiday weekend? Were you able to refresh yourselves?

For those of you who will be working or going to school from today, it may be difficult to get back to normal mode after the vacations, but let’s do our best together!

 

 

Well, during this consecutive holidays, I was facing my “parents’ home” with a heavy heart. For those of you who have also cleaned out your parents’ home, I take the liberty of thinking of you as my comrades.

 

For me, my parents’ house was unfortunately uncomfortable, “I don’t feel at home even if I stay there,” “The only time I come up and sit in the house is during Obon and New Year’s,” and I didn’t think it was a place I would come back to in the future.

Although I had my own thoughts about my mother’s inability to get rid of things, I think I had always thought that my parents’ life belonged to them and I was left to my own devices.

However, a few years ago, my mother became ill and I was forced to move back home. There I saw the reality of my parents’ lifestyle. It was the moment when I thought, “This is not good enough.

Today, I would like to write about what I realized when I faced the task of cleaning up my parents’ house, so please bear with me if you like.

 

 

I started by getting rid of my belongings that had been left behind, and then I began to clean up the areas around the water that I was not allowed to touch with my bare hands, little by little, and really, really slowly.

However, as I was doing it, I started to feel that “I don’t want to do it, but I’m doing it for them”.

I often got into a bad mood with my mother, who didn’t want me to do it, but felt that I was making her do it for me.

 

 

I guess my mother thought that because it was her house, if I tried to clean it up, she would be the one to move it, and she felt that I was giving her a hard time even though I didn’t want to clean it up. She didn’t like the idea of moving things around, getting rid of things, etc., and her mood became extremely bad. However, if I cleaned the room and it became clean and tidy, he would honestly say thank you.

 

I started with cleaning and gradually won my mother’s trust, and gradually got rid of a lot of things, including dishes…. Then I got into a bad habit. I suggested, “If you’re going to do that work anyway, why don’t you clean out the other inefficient storage space as well? For example, my mother had to bend down to get a change of clothes from the bottom drawer of the wardrobe every day, and my parents’ clothes were somehow separated into several different places, and I thought it would be possible to make the flow a little less complicated.

 

 

It was at this point that I learned an important lesson in cleaning out my parents’ home. For my aging parents, “throw away, move, or reduce” is not a word.

I realized that the key is how to make the house meet their needs. No matter how much you think you are doing something for your parents, for them it is often just a thankless inconvenience. It was necessary to explain only the benefits of cleaning up the mess, and to emphasize that it was only I who would make the move.

 

Therefore, I said to my parents, “Let’s improve the troubled area together at this time, what do you have?” I asked them in the kindest tone I could muster,

They replied, “Nothing! I was told, “Nothing!

 

There is a certain timing for each individual when it comes to tidying up, and if you work hard at a time when you don’t, you will end up spinning out of control.

I think that if you look at it objectively, even if you know that it would be better to do it this way, if you do it as a matter of course every day, you become numb to the difficulty. I don’t notice the discomfort, and if anything, I guess sometimes the stress of the change in environment is greater. For my parents, it wasn’t now….

 

And so far, this was a few years ago, and now we are going to face another challenge…

はぁーーーーっ…。

大きなため息をついておりますスタッフYでございます。今日で連休が終わってしまいますね…。連休後半のお天気が爽やかを通り越して少々暑かった地域も多かったのようですが、皆さまの連休はどうお過ごしでしたでしょうか。

 

先日もTVでオーバーツーリズムのことを取材しておりましたが、後半は気候も良くお出かけされた方が本当に多かったようですね。私も先日の報告の通り土岐美濃焼祭りへ参戦したり、自宅でだらだらすごしたりとありきたりな連休の過ごし方でしたが、気候も良くお天気がよかったというだけで、まあまあいい時間を過ごしたような気がしてきます。

 

さて、少しだけその報告を致しますが、日本三大陶器まつりである「土岐美濃焼祭り」へ行って参りました。一言で感想を述べますと、器好きさんは一度は行ってほしいお祭りでありました。なにせその器の量とお買い得感が凄かったです。

 

そもそも土岐市は飲食用食器生産日本一でして、その土岐市北部に土岐美濃焼卸商業団地（協同組合土岐美濃焼卸センター）があります。そこに有力な産地陶磁器卸商社が一同に集まり、美濃焼などどんなものでも取り扱っている豊富な品揃えが自慢なのですが、このエリア、なんと名古屋ドーム約6個分の広大な敷地に各店舗が点在しております。

 

伝統的な志野焼・織部焼をはじめ、洋食器・ガラス製品・漆製品・インテリア雑貨・アロマ用品・天然はちみつ・手作りパンなど個性豊かなお店が勢揃いしており、しかも全店、信頼の卸商社直営ですので、大変お値打ちに購入することができます。

 

普段からそんなお値打ちな団地エリアなのですが、５月連休の土岐美濃焼祭りではそのエリアが歩行者天国となり、道路には１km以上にわたり卸商社だけでなく近隣の陶芸作家さんなども出店しなんと250以上のテントが連なるイベントと化し、さらにお買い得になります。

 

そんなわけで気合を入れて出発せねばなりません。私も名古屋から１時間以上はかかりそうですし、初日朝市に掘り出し物があるということで狙って朝６時出発いたしました。聞くところによると、買い物した後の荷物のことを考えて手があいた状態の方がよいということですので、帽子、スニーカー、リュックやカートの準備がいいようであります。

 

目標時間には到着しましたが、既に駐車場への車の列ができておりました。（８時過ぎくらいだったような。）すでに開いているブースや店舗もあり、さっそく参戦。とにかくその出店数と陶器の数に圧倒されますが、掘り出し物のたたかいにも参戦したり笑、少し慣れてきまして店舗横のカゴやテーブル脇にある掘り出し物を探すようになってきました。そうするとよく普通の店舗などで見かけるお高めの器のＢ品を目ざとく見つけたり、好みの陶芸作家さんの作品を探したり、と、だんだん面白くなってきまして、購入した器の量と重さに一度車へ購入した器を置きに戻るという事態になってしまいました笑。

 

 

 

 

そして、気が付くとお昼近くには歩行者天国に人が溢れかえっておりまして。参道では飲食店の出店や大道芸のパフォーマンスがあったりとにぎわっておりましたが、なにせ朝早くからでしたので、まだお昼なんだ笑と、ちょっと苦笑いでありました。

 

と、いうわけでまだお昼だったという長い一日ではありましたが、また来年に楽しみはとっておくとしてお昼にて会場を後に致しました。それにしても連休がっつり楽しんだと思える一日でありましたので、食器好きの方は来年の連休は、是非カート持参で掘り出し物の戦いに臨んでみてください。

Sigh….

This is Staff Y with a big sigh. Today is the end of the consecutive holidays…. It seems that the weather in the latter half of the holidays was not only refreshing but also a little bit hot in many areas, but how did you spend your holidays?

 

The other day, I was watching a TV program about over tourism. It seems that many of you went out in the latter half of the year because the weather was good. As I reported the other day, I also participated in the Toki Mino pottery festival and spent the consecutive holidays in a conventional way, such as slacking off at home, but just because the weather was good and the weather was fine, I feel as if I spent a good time so to speak.

 

Now, I would like to report a little bit about the “Toki Mino Ceramic Ware Festival,” which is one of the three major pottery festivals in Japan. In a word, it was a festival that those who love pottery should go to at least once. In any case, the quantity of the pottery and the sense of bargain were great.

 

Originally, Toki City is the largest producer of tableware for eating and drinking in Japan, and there is the Toki Mino ware wholesale commercial complex (Cooperative Union Toki Mino ware Wholesale Center) in the northern part of Toki City. There, all the leading local ceramic wholesale trading companies gather and boast a rich assortment of products of any kind, including Mino ware, but in this area, each store is scattered over a vast site the size of about six Nagoya Domes.

 

Starting with traditional Shino and Oribe pottery, there are stores selling Western tableware, glassware, lacquerware, interior goods, aroma goods, natural honey, handmade bread, and many other unique items.

 

Although it is usually such a reasonable area, during the Toki Mino Pottery Festival on consecutive holidays in May, the area becomes a pedestrian paradise, and the road becomes an event with more than 250 tents where not only wholesale trading companies but also pottery artists in the neighborhood open stalls for more than 1 km, making it even more affordable.

 

So, I had to set out with great enthusiasm. It would take me more than an hour to get there from Nagoya, and I left at 6 a.m., hoping to find a bargain at the morning market on the first day of the event. I was told that it is better to leave your hands free for luggage after shopping, so it is better to prepare a hat, sneakers, and a backpack or cart.

 

We arrived at the target time, but there was already a line of cars waiting to park. (It was about past 8:00 am, I think.) Some booths and stores were already open, so we quickly entered. Anyway, I was overwhelmed by the number of booths and the number of ceramics, but I also participated in the fight for bargains, and I got used to it and started to look for bargains in the baskets next to the stores and by the tables. And then I noticed that by noon, the pedestrian mall was overflowing with people. The approach to the temple was bustling with restaurants and street performances, but since it was so early in the morning, I was a little bitterly surprised that it was still lunchtime.

 

So, although it was still noon, we left the venue at lunchtime, saving the fun for next year. We hope that tableware lovers will bring their own carts to fight the battle of the bargains next year.
