みなさま、こんにちは。先日、静岡に行く用事があり、そのついでに気になっていた『秋野不矩美術館』まで足を運んできましたスタッフMです。

みなさまは、秋野不矩（あきのふく）という静岡県出身の女流日本画家をご存じでしょうか。

１９０８（明治４１）年、静岡県磐田郡二俣町（現；浜松市天竜区二俣町）に生まれ、若くして官展で実績を積み重ねましたが、戦後間もなく、新しい日本画の創造を目指して「創造美術」の結成に参加すると、官展時代の作風から脱却し、西洋画家の特質を取り入れるなどして、人物画に新境地をひらきました。１９６２（昭和３７）年、５４歳の時に大学の客員教授としてインドに滞在して以来、インドに魅せられ、たびたび当地を訪れては、風景や人々、寺院などをモチーフに作品を描きました。他にも、アフガニスタン、ネパール、カンボジア、アフリカにも旅行して創作のアイデアを求め、９３歳で亡くなるまで絵筆を取り続けたそうです。

そんな彼女が９０歳の時（平成１０年）に、美術館が開館しました。

お恥ずかしい話ですが、私は浜松市出身なのにそのことを知りませんでした。最近になって周りの人に聞き、初めてその存在を知

りました。なんでも、名古屋に住む私の友人もはるばる見に行きたくなるくらい素敵な美術館ということ。

 

 

 

ワクワクしながら美術館に着くと、建物の可愛さに一気に虜になりました。美術館という概念が覆されるような、まるでジブリの映画に出てきそうな佇まい。できてから２０年ということで、まだまだ新しい感じがしました。

 

 

 

中に入ると、特別展をやっていました。「高橋周桑　生誕１２０年　—ロマンとモダン—」

秋野不矩と同世代の高橋周桑は、１９００（明治３３）年に愛媛県に生まれ、１８歳の時に日本画家速水御舟に感化され絵を描き始め、その後御舟に師事。院展に入選するなどの実績を残しました。しかし、１９４８年に秋野不矩らとともに「創造美術」を立ち上げてからは自身の表現を展開していきましたが、６３歳の若さで病に倒れ生涯を閉じました。

 

 

 

高梁周桑の作品が年代順に並んでいたので、じっくり見ていきました。（ここからはど素人の素直な感想なので、笑ってやってくださいませ。）

若いころ、「創造美術」を立ち上げる前は植物の作品が多いという印象です。そのどれもが対象物を細かく丁寧に描いていることから、綺麗だけれども教科書的な感じで、そこから受ける感情はあまり感じ取れませんでした。

しかし、「創造美術」を立ち上げた以降は大胆な構図や、広く対象を捉えた構図に変化していくような感じがしました。また、何といっても緑の使い方が絶妙なんです。同じ緑であっても、細かいニュアンスの違いを見事に描き分け、奥深い作品ばかりです。描くのに使った岩絵具という画材も一緒に展示してありましたが、中でも緑の種類の多さに驚きました。見学する人の中に、日本画を描く方たちのグループがいらして、少しお話しさせてもらうと、「緑の岩絵具は高いんだよ！」と。なるほど、鉱石を砕いて作るのですから、そうなんですね、と妙に納得しました。(笑)

 

印象的だったのが、「山」という作品です。緑の使い方もさることながら、あけぼのの空でしょうか。深い青色の空に吸い込まれていきそうになります。山際は明るく白んできてはいますが、まだまだ空の高いところは暗く、夜を抱えているようで…。世界が一番きれいな時は、夜明け前のこの瞬間なのではないか、と感じるくらいです。あまりにもきれいだったので、絵葉書を買ってしまいました。

 

 

 

奥様が亡くなった後、高橋周桑自身も肺を患いながらの晩年の作品は、とても寂しい印象です。冬の木立や、枯れ木の林など、余分なものはすべてそぎ落とした、でも芯の部分は残っているという気迫は感じられました。

 

今回こうやって、生涯を通しての作品を見ることで、高橋周桑の一部を感じられた気がします。日本画についても詳しくない私にとっては、とても勉強になるひと時でした。みなさま、おすすめの美術館情報など、教えていただけると嬉しいです！今回もお読みくださり、ありがとうございました。　　（スタッフM）

 

 

 

 

Hello everyone. The other day, I had a business trip to Shizuoka, and I was staff M who went to the “Akino Huku Art Museum” which I was interested in.

Do you know Fuku Akino, a female Japanese-style painter from Shizuoka prefecture?

Born in 1908 (Meiji 41) in Futamata-cho, Iwata-gun, Shizuoka Prefecture (currently Futamata-cho, Tenryu-ku, Hamamatsu City), he accumulated achievements at public exhibitions at a young age. Participating in the formation of “Art” broke new ground in portraiture by breaking away from the style of the government exhibition era and incorporating the characteristics of Western painters. Since she stayed in India as a visiting professor at the university at the age of 54 in 1962 (Showa 37), she has been fascinated by India, and she frequently visits the area to create works with motifs such as landscapes, people, and temples. I drew. She also traveled to Afghanistan, Nepal, Cambodia and Africa to seek creative ideas and continued to take her paintbrush until her death at the age of 93.

When she was 90 years old (1998), her museum opened.

It’s an embarrassing story, but I didn’t know that even though I was from Hamamatsu City. Recently, I asked the people around me and learned about its existence for the first time.

I did. Everything is so wonderful that my friends living in Nagoya want to go all the way to see it.

 

When I arrived at the museum with excitement, I was immediately captivated by the cuteness of the building. It looks like it appears in a Ghibli movie, overturning the concept of a museum. It’s been 20 years since I was able to do it, so I still feel new.

 

Once inside, I was doing a special exhibition. “Takahashi Shukuwa 120th Anniversary-Roman and Modern-”

Shuso Takahashi, the same generation as Fuku Akino, was born in Ehime Prefecture in 1900 (Meiji 33). At the age of 18, he was inspired by the Japanese-style painter Gyoshu Hayami and began painting, after which he studied under Gyoshu. He has made achievements such as being selected for the institute exhibition. However, after launching “Creative Art” with Fuku Akino in 1948, he developed his own expression, but at the young age of 63 he fell ill and died.

 

The works of Shuso Takahashi were arranged in chronological order, so I took a closer look. (From here on, it’s an amateur’s honest impression, so please laugh.)

When I was young, I had the impression that there were many botanical works before launching “Creative Art”. All of them depict the objects in detail, so it was beautiful but textbook-like, and I couldn’t really feel the emotions I received from them.

However, after launching “Creative Art,” I felt that the composition would change to a bold composition and a composition that broadly captured the subject. Also, after all, how to use green is exquisite. Even if it is the same green, it is a deep work that clearly draws the difference in fine nuances. The painting material called mineral pigments used for drawing was also exhibited, but I was surprised at the variety of greens. One of the visitors was a group of people who draw Japanese paintings, and when I talked a little, they said, “Green mineral pigments are expensive!” I see, I’m strangely convinced that it’s because it’s made by crushing ore. (Lol)

 

What impressed me was the work called “Mountain”. Is it the Akebono sky as well as how to use green? I’m about to be sucked into the deep blue sky. The mountains are bright and white, but the high places in the sky are still dark, and it seems that they are holding the night. When the world is the most beautiful, I feel that it is this moment before dawn. It was so beautiful that I bought a postcard.

 

After his wife died, Shuko Takahashi himself suffered from lungs, and his work in his later years is a very lonely impression. I felt the spirit of removing all the extra things such as winter groves and dead forests, but leaving the core.

By seeing his lifelong works in this way, I feel that I could feel a part of Shukuwa Takahashi. For me, who is not familiar with Japanese painting, it was a very educational time. I would be grateful if you could tell us about recommended museum information!
