本日の名古屋は快晴。絶好の紅葉日和となっております。先ほども通りかかったとある公園の紅葉を画像におさめました。私の拙いカメラスキルでそれなりに綺麗に撮れておりますので、携帯とこのお天気には感謝しなくてはなりませんね。

 

 

ちなみにこの写真は、風光舎の近くにあります公園で、東山動植物園と同じく千種区なわけですが、となると、東山植物園の紅葉はどうなのかと気になってきます。

 

先日のブログで愛知県内の紅葉スポットをご案内しましたが、このあたりの身近な紅葉スポットには、風光舎の目と鼻の先にはあの東山動植物園があります。実は植物園内には紅葉する樹木が500本以上あり、特に中央の谷筋にあるもみじは市内屈指の紅葉スポットなのです。

 

そして東山動植物園では、今年も「もみじ狩り・紅葉ライトアップ」が開催されます。

「もみじ狩り」は11月15日（土）～12月7日（日）まで。（月曜日は休園日）

「紅葉ライトアップ」は11月22日（土）、23日（日）、24日（祝）、29日（土）、30日（日）と12月6日（土）、7日（日）の計7日間開催されます。（ライトアップ期間中は、植物園エリアの一部を20時30分まで開園延長しています）

 

東山動物園はあのゴリラのシャバーニやフクロテナガザルのケイジなどで全国でも人気な動物園ではありますが、お名前は「東山動植物園」でして、隣接している「植物園」も、その広さ、施設の大きさなどなどそれはそれはすごいんです。

 

 

 

こちらの植物園の紅葉は例年11月中旬から植物園の紅葉がスタートし、自然な東山の地形をそのまま生かした名古屋市内とは思えない山野のようなダイナミックな景色が魅力なのです。さらに全国でも数少ない大規模な逆さモミジが見れるスポットでもあります。夜にはいっそう美しさを増す奥池のモミジも見逃せません。

 

また、植物園にある日本庭園「也有園(やゆうえん)」から奥池までの園路沿いには、紅葉樹約60種類200本がトンネルのようにつらなっており、美しい昼の紅葉も楽しめます。

 

他県から名古屋へ観光にてお越しの皆さま、名古屋駅から東山線に乗って18分。シャバーニにも会えて、あのダイナミックな紅葉のライトアップも一緒に鑑賞できますので、この時期の東山動植物園、名古屋人からおススメですよ。

動物園では、アジアゾウ、コアラ、レッサーパンダ、ニシゴリラなど約450種の動物が暮らしており、飼育種類数は日本一です。植物園では、約7000種の植物を展示しており、春の桜や秋の紅葉など四季折々の風景楽しめます。

 

 

Today in Nagoya, the skies are clear and sunny. It’s perfect autumn foliage weather. I just passed by a park and captured its autumn colors in a photo. Considering my limited camera skills, it turned out reasonably well, so I have to thank my phone and this beautiful weather.

 

By the way, this photo was taken at a park near Fūkōsha, located in Chikusa Ward, just like the Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens. That got me wondering how the autumn foliage looks at the Higashiyama Botanical Gardens.

 

In a recent blog post, I introduced autumn foliage spots in Aichi Prefecture, but for nearby spots, right next door to Fugoshya is that Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Garden. Actually, the botanical garden has over 500 trees that change color, and especially the maples along the central valley are among the city’s top autumn foliage spots.

 

And this year, Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens will once again host its “Autumn Foliage Viewing & Illumination” event.

The “Autumn Foliage Viewing” runs from Saturday, November 15th to Sunday, December 7th. (Closed on Mondays)

The “Autumn Leaves Illumination” will be held for a total of 7 days: November 22 (Sat), 23 (Sun), 24 (Holiday), 29 (Sat), 30 (Sun), and December 6 (Sat), 7 (Sun). (During the illumination period, part of the botanical garden area will remain open until 8:30 PM.)

 

Higashiyama Zoo is nationally popular for gorillas like Shabani and gibbons like Keiji, but its full name is “Higashiyama Zoological and Botanical Gardens.” The adjacent “Botanical Garden” is truly remarkable in its size, scale of facilities, and more.

The autumn foliage at this botanical garden typically begins in mid-November. Its charm lies in the dynamic, mountainous scenery that feels worlds away from downtown Nagoya, making full use of Higashiyama’s natural topography. It’s also one of the few large-scale spots nationwide where you can see inverted maple trees. The maple trees around Okuike Pond, which become even more beautiful at night, are also not to be missed.

 

Moreover, along the path from the Japanese garden “Yayuen” to Okuike Pond, approximately 200 trees of 60 different types of autumn foliage form a tunnel-like corridor, allowing visitors to enjoy the beautiful daytime colors as well.

 

For visitors coming to Nagoya from other prefectures, it’s just an 18-minute ride on the Higashiyama Line from Nagoya Station. You can meet Shabani and enjoy the dynamic autumn foliage illumination together. Nagoya locals highly recommend the Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens during this season.
