１０月に入りましたね。

少し涼しくなってきましたので、私的にはようやっと落ち着いていろいろなものを鑑賞できる気分になってまいりました。そんなわけで、本日はこちらのお椀を鑑賞してみたいと思いますので、少々お付き合いください。

 

『合鹿椀』（ごうろくわん）

 

 

 

 

輪島塗なんですが気になりますね、この型。

「合鹿碗」というのですが、床に置いた状態で食事が出来るように、通常より高台が高い特有の形であります。すでに何を盛りつけようかイメージが浮かんでくるような器ですが、そこは一旦置いておくとして。

 

漆の技法は平安時代末期に出現した渋下地漆器という技法を受け継いでおり、輪島塗の特徴の一つである布着せを行っているのですが、手に取ってみますとどことなく暖かみを感じます。こちらは輪島の漆器作家、角偉三郎の作なのですが、その圧倒的な洗練と鮮烈に心奮われる作品ですね。

 

そんな「合鹿椀」なのですが、その歴史は不明だそうでして、文献で最も古いものは元禄7年（1694年)、現存する合鹿椀も元禄年間のものと分析されております。漆の技法は柿渋を下地として使う平安時代末期の技法を継承しているのですが、その歴史を中世までとする証拠は発見されてておりません。

 

また、合鹿椀は明治時代まで作られていたのですが、他の漆器や陶磁器に押されて一旦は生産が途絶えていたそうです。その後、昭和63年(1988年)より旧柳田村文化財保護審議会委員の呼び掛けによって本格的な調査が始まり、平成5年(1993年)に調査結果の報告書『合鹿椀』(発行/柳田村)がまとめられ、合鹿椀類として村の文化財に指定された歴史があります。平成21年(2009年)、珠洲市生まれの木彫作家であった大宮静時により復元され、輪島塗の作家である角偉三郎作も合鹿椀を創作しております。

 

 

そして、こちらがその角偉三郎作の「合鹿碗」。

 

 

 

 

 

 

焼物もそうですが、漆器にも途絶えたり復活したりと紆余曲折の歴史を経て今に至るものもあるようでして。この「合鹿碗」も、そんな様々な歴史を経て現代の生活にすーっと佇んでいるその佇まいを拝見しますと、もはやさりげなく復活したところもちょっと「やるじゃん笑」とに思えてきたり。そして、すでにこの器に何を盛りつけるかすでにイメージし始めたりしているので、やはりしたたかさをも感じたりも致します。

 

しかし…もう少し高尚な感想を述べたかったのですが、この「合鹿碗」を手に取って「おぬし、なかなかやるな…」と、つぶやきしか漏れず。いっこうに成長のない自分にげんなりする１０月最初の鑑賞でありました。

Now that the weather has become a little cooler, I am finally in the mood to relax and appreciate various things. So, today, I would like to show you these bowls, so please bear with me for a moment.

 

Goroku Bowl

 

This is a Wajima-nuri bowl, but I am curious about this shape.

It is called “Goroku Bowl,” and it has a unique shape with a higher base than usual so that it can be placed on the floor for eating. It is a bowl that already gives you an image of what you would like to serve with it, but let’s put that aside for the moment.

 

The lacquer technique is inherited from a technique called Shibu Shimoji Lacquerware, which appeared in the late Heian period (794-1185), and is one of the characteristics of Wajima-nuri (Wajima lacquerware). This bowl was made by Weizaburo Kaku, a lacquerware artist in Wajima, and its overwhelming sophistication and vividness are inspiring.

 

 

 

The oldest documented “Goshika Bowl” dates back to the 7th year of Genroku (1694), and the existing Goshika Bowl is also analyzed to be from the Genroku era (Genroku era). The oldest documented example dates back to Genroku 7 (1694), and the existing Goshika bowls have been analyzed as being from the Genroku period. The lacquer technique is inherited from the late Heian period, using persimmon tannin as a base, but no evidence has been found to date it back to the Middle Ages.

 

In fact, Goshika bowls were made until the Meiji period (1868-1912), but production was temporarily halted due to the popularity of other lacquerware and ceramics. In 1988, a full-scale investigation was initiated by a member of the former Yanagida Village Cultural Properties Protection Council, and in 1993, a report on the results of the investigation, “Goshika Bowls” (published by Yanagida Village) was compiled, designating the bowls as a cultural asset of the village. In 2009, the bowl was restored by Omiya Shizutoki, a woodcarver born in Suzu City, and Wajima-nuri artist Kado Weizaburo also created a Goshika bowl.

As is the case with pottery, lacquerware has also undergone a history of twists and turns, with some dying out and others coming back to life. When I look at this “Goshika Bowl,” which has also gone through such various histories and stands in our modern life, I realize that I have already started to imagine what I would like to serve on this bowl…. And so, “You’re pretty good, aren’t you? I thought to myself as I picked up this “Goshika Bowl”.
