本日は久しぶりに気温が下がり、午後から雨も降り始めました。蒸し暑さも小休止といったところでしょうか。

ここ数日、暑さのためか食欲が減退し、冷たい飲み物やデザートでお腹を満たしがちだったのですが、今からこれでは夏は乗り切れないと思い、食に意識を向けるようになりました。

というのも実は最近、「薬膳」を意識したドラマにはまっており、正直なところそちらの影響も大きいかと。「しあわせは食べて寝て待て」というタイトルなのですが、ご存知でしょうか。病気を抱え体調を崩しがちな主人公が何とか前向きに生きるために、マイペースながらも生活に薬膳などを取り入れ、周囲の人の助けも得ながら心と身体を整えていく様子が描かれています。

登場人物も皆さん素敵なのですが、時折映し出される飾らないお料理やデザートに引き込まれております。

薬膳と聞くと「クコの実」や「ナツメ」などの少々値段がお高めの食品が思い浮かびます。薬膳には五行と呼ばれる「木・火・土・金・水」の五つの性質があり、「五臓（肝・心・脾・肺・腎）、「五味（酸・苦・甘・辛・鹹」、季節「春・夏・梅雨・秋・冬」などと対応して互いにバランスを取ることで心身を健康に保つという考え方なのだそうですが、複雑で少し近寄りがたい領域でした。

しかしドラマを観ていると、もっと気楽に考え、普段私たちが口にしている食品を少し意識して食べるだけでも薬膳に近づけそうな気分になれます。

これからの梅雨の時期には体に湿気が溜まりやすく「脾（胃腸）」が弱りがちだそうで、黄色い食べ物のトウモロコシ、じゃがいも、カボチャなどが胃腸を守ってくれるそうです。体の中の湿気を取り除く食べものとしては他に、きゅうり、セロリ、生姜、ネギ、シソなどの香味野菜もあります。大好きなものばかりで最近は蕎麦などの麺類とよく一緒にいただきますが、効能を意識して食べると効果が高まる気がいたします。プラセボ効果ではありませんが、信じやすく、性格が単純にできている私にとっては知ること自体が大切な作業のようです。

先日も珍しく風邪をひいてしまい、喉の調子が悪く辛かったのですが、昔母がよく作ってくれた「蜂蜜だいこん」を思い出し作って飲んでみると、一瞬で喉の痛みが治まりした。そんなにすぐに良くなるはずがない！と家族に訝しがられましたが、結果オーライということで私のお守り薬となりそうです。

先ほども書きましたが、薬味系が大好物で、薬味を食べたいがために蕎麦を茹でることもあります。蕎麦、うどん、ソーメンなどの麺類は薬膳では体を冷やす働きがあるそうで夏に食べると良いそうです。麺類の中でも蕎麦は特に栄養価が高く、熱中症予防にもなるとか。うどんやソーメンなどに比べてビタミンが豊富に含まれ、鉄分、マグネシウム、カリウムも多いからだそうです。特にビタミンB１は糖質の代謝を促進し、エネルギー供給をスムーズにすることで、ダイエットにも効果的で、疲労感も軽減してくれるのだとか。

また蕎麦の香りは心を落ち着かせ、イライラを改善する効果もあるそうなので香りも意識してみるといいかもしれません。

何となく口にしていた蕎麦ですが、改めて効能を知ると食べる気力も一段と湧いてきます。

蕎麦好きの方が紹介していたレシピなのですが、冷たい蕎麦を温かい出汁でいただくレシピが気に入っています。

耐熱の蕎麦猪口に鰹節をたっぷり入れ、レンジで１分半。そこに黒コショウと刻んだ白ネギを足し、温めた蕎麦つゆを注ぎ、えごま油（お好みの油）を大さじ１（結構たっぷりです）を加え、冷やした蕎麦と一緒にいただきます。

いつもの味に飽きてきたら是非試してみてください。

Today the temperature dropped for the first time in a while and it started raining in the afternoon. The hot and humid weather has also paused.

I have lost my appetite for the past few days, probably due to the heat, and have tended to fill my stomach with cold drinks and desserts, but I have started to pay more attention to food, thinking that I will not be able to survive the summer.

I have recently become addicted to a TV drama series that focuses on “medicinal herbs,” and to be honest, I think this has had a big influence on me. The title of the drama is “Eat, Sleep and Wait for Happiness. The story is about the main character who is sick and tends to get sick, but in order to live a positive life, she adopts medicinal herbs in her daily life, and with the help of people around her, she manages to get her mind and body in order.

The characters are all very nice, but I was drawn in by the unadorned dishes and desserts that are shown from time to time.

When I hear the word “yakuzen,” I think of expensive foods such as “wolfberry” and “jujube. The concept of yakuzen is to keep body and mind healthy by balancing the five elements (wood, fire, earth, metal, and water) with the five organs (liver, heart, spleen, lung, and kidney), five tastes (acid, bitter, sweet, spicy, and salty), and seasons (spring, summer, rainy season, fall, and winter), which is complicated and a little difficult to approach. It was an area that was complicated and a little difficult to approach.

However, watching the drama, I felt as if I could get closer to yakuzen by thinking more comfortably and eating foods that we usually eat with a little more awareness.

During the rainy season, moisture tends to accumulate in the body and the “spleen” (stomach and intestines) tends to weaken. Other foods that remove moisture from the body include cucumbers, celery, ginger, green onions, shiso, and other savory vegetables. I love them all and often eat them with noodles such as soba (buckwheat noodles) these days, but I feel that if you eat them with their benefits in mind, the effects will be enhanced. It’s not a placebo effect, but for me, who is easy to believe and has a simple personality, it seems that knowing itself is an important task.

The other day I caught a cold, which was a rare occurrence for me, and I was suffering from a bad throat. I remembered the “honey radish” that my mother used to make for me and drank it, and the sore throat went away instantly. My family wondered how it could get better so quickly! As I mentioned earlier, I am a big fan of yakumi (condiments) and sometimes boil buckwheat noodles just to have yakumi. Noodles such as soba, udon, and somen are said to be good to eat in summer because they have a cooling effect on the body according to medicinal herbs. Among noodles, soba is particularly nutritious and helps prevent heat stroke. This is because it contains more vitamins than udon or somen noodles, and also has more iron, magnesium, and potassium. In particular, vitamin B1 promotes the metabolism of carbohydrates and smooths the supply of energy, which is effective for weight loss and reduces fatigue.

The aroma of soba is also said to calm the mind and improve irritability, so it is a good idea to be conscious of the aroma as well.

We eat Soba without thinking about it, but when we learn about its efficacy, we will be more motivated to eat it.

This recipe was introduced by a soba (buckwheat noodle) lover, and I like the recipe of cold soba served with warm dashi broth.

Put a generous amount of dried bonito flakes in a heatproof Soba-noodle bowl and microwave it for one and a half minutes. Add black pepper and chopped white onion to it, pour warm soba sauce, add 1 tablespoon (quite a lot) of sesame oil (oil of your choice), and serve with cold soba noodles.

If you get tired of the usual taste, please give it a try.

スーパーなどの店頭に青梅が並んでいるのを見て、「あ、今年もそんな季節か」と思いましたが、家庭での「梅しごと」を始めたい方にとっては、いつ漬けるかタイミングを見計らっているところでしょうか。

先日、梅雨前に少し片づけたいということで、実家の手伝いをしておりましたら、床下収納から忘れられていた、かなり古い梅酒と梅干しがいくつか出てきました。おそらく10年以上前のもの（下手したらそれ以上のものも出てきそうです）と思しきもの。まず思ったことは、「これまだ大丈夫なの？」でした。

皆さまも手作りがご趣味で、毎年作られている方も多くいらっしゃるかもしれませんね。母も梅干し・梅酒を手作りするのが好きで、毎年作っていました。ですが母はお酒をほとんど飲みません。皆さまも疑問に思ったことはありませんか？「飲みもしないのになんで毎年漬けるのか？」。

今思えば、それは1年に1回の恒例行事となっていましたし、梅の効能についても絶大な信頼があったのかもしれませんが、それはもうやらねばならぬと言ったような義務感みたいなものを感じなくもなかったわけですが、手間のかかる手作りの（しかも体にいいとされる）ものを娘達に送ってあげたいという優しさもあったのでしょうし、もはや生きがいのようになっていたのかもしれません。

ありがたいことだったのですが、大量に送ってくるので、前年のものが終わらないうちに今年のものが来てしまうようになり、「まだ残っているから今年は要らない」とでも言おうものなら「人の好意を無駄にして！」と怒られることもありました。

そんな感じでしたので、毎年漬けていた梅酒や梅干しがたくさん残っていたのです。

おそるおそる、味、においを確認したところ傷んではいない様です。しかし大きなビンにぎっしり入っていて、どうしたものやら。梅干しも食べすぎれば塩分取り過ぎになりそうですし、梅煮に使うと言ってもやはり毎日というわけにはいきません。しかも私もお酒はほとんど飲まないうえ、甘いお酒はあまり飲みません。

皆さま、こういった時、どう消費されていますか？もしくは捨ててしまいますか？
私も心を鬼にして捨てようかと思いましたが、梅干しも梅酒も、１つずつ布巾で拭いて、竹串でヘタを取って穴を開けて、と手間がかかる事を知っているので、それを簡単に捨てるなどというのは気が引けます。
こういう場合、何年、何十年かかっても食べきるべきでしょうか…。

調べてみると、「梅酒　古い　捨て方　使い道」などの検索ワードがまあまあヒットしまして。わたしのように処分の仕方に困っている方けっこういるんですね。どうやら、保存状態が良ければ、年数がたつほど梅酒はまろやかになるそうで、全然飲めます！と20年前のものを飲まれたいうご意見も。あえて何年も寝かせている梅酒・梅干しをお持ちの方もいらっしゃるようで…。梅干は10年ものが一粒数百円以上になったものもあるとか？

はてさてどうしたものか…。人に差し上げる時は本当に喜んでもらってるのか、押し付けになっていないか…。私も気をつけたいと思います。

When I saw green plums on the shelves of supermarkets, I thought, “Oh, it’s that time of year again,” but for those who want to start “ume-shigoto” at home, they are probably looking for the right time when to start pickling plums.

The other day, I was helping out at my parents’ house to clean up a little before the rainy season, and I found some old plum wine and pickled plums that had been forgotten in the underfloor storage. They were probably more than 10 years old (or more if I am not mistaken). My first thought was, “Are these still safe?” I thought, “Is this still good?

Many of you may have a hobby of handmade products and make them every year. My mother also liked to make pickled plums and plum wine by hand, and she did so every year. However, she rarely drinks alcohol. Have you ever wondered why she doesn’t drink? “If she doesn’t drink, why does she make pickled plums every year?” I think now, it is because she makes it every year.

Looking back, it had become an annual event, and she may have had great faith in the efficacy of ume, but I could not help but feel a sense of obligation to do it, as if I had to. I guess I also had the kindness of wanting to send my daughters something handmade and time-consuming (and also good for their health), and perhaps it had become a kind of purpose in my life.

I was very grateful, but they sent so many that this year’s gifts came before the previous year’s ones were finished. If I tried to say, “I don’t want it this year because it’s still left,” I would be scolded.

So we had a lot of pickled plums and umeboshi left over from our annual pickling.

I checked the taste and smell with trepidation, and found that they were undamaged. However, they were packed in a large jar, and I wondered what to do with them. If I eat too many dried plums, I might take in too much salt, and even if I use them to stew plums, I can’t use them every day. Moreover, I rarely drink alcohol, and I don’t drink sweet drinks very much either.

What do you do with them? Or do you throw them away?

I thought about throwing them away, but I know that it takes a lot of time and effort to wipe up the dried plums and plum wine one by one with a cloth, remove the stems with a bamboo skewer, and poke holes in them, so I am reluctant to simply throw them away.

In such a case, should I eat them up even if it takes me years or decades to do so?

When I did some research, I found that search terms such as “how to throw away old plum wine” were quite common. It seems that there are many people like me who are having trouble disposing of old ume-shu. Apparently, if it is well preserved, the older it gets, the mellower the plum wine becomes, and it is still drinkable! Some people even said they would like to drink the ones that are 20 years old. Some people seem to have plum wine and umeboshi that have been stored for years on purpose. Some of the 10-year-old pickled plums are now priced at more than several hundred yen each…?

Well, what should we do with them…? When I give them to people, I wonder if they are really pleased with them or if I am just pushing them…. I will be careful too.

少々大袈裟かもしれませんが、この時代に生まれてきてよかったな…と思うことが一つあるのですが笑。それは昨今の分析技術のお陰でこれまでだと謎とされてきたことが解明される瞬間であります。折しも先日訪れた奈良国立博物館「超国宝展」にて展示されておりました石上神宮の「七支刀（しちしとう）」のニュースが上がっておりました。

古墳時代に朝鮮半島から伝わったとされる石上神宮の国宝「七支刀（しちしとう）」ですが、奈良国立博物館が最新の分析装置での調査結果では、内部はほとんど腐食しておらず、極めて良好な状態が保たれていることがわかったそうです。1600年前の剣としては状態が非常によく奇跡的だとのことです。

先日実際にみてきたのですが、表面は赤褐色にさびていました。再び磨ぐとあの中からきらりと光る鋼が現れるのでしょうか。

It may be a bit exaggerated, but there is one thing that makes me glad to have been born in this era… lol. It is the moment when something that has been considered a mystery until now is clarified thanks to the recent analytical technology. The other day, I visited the Nara National Museum and saw the news about the “Shichishito,” a seven-sided sword from Ishigami Jingu Shrine, which was on display at the “Super National Treasure Exhibition.

According to the Nara National Museum’s latest analytical equipment, the interior of the sword is almost completely uncorroded and remains in excellent condition. I saw the sword in person the other day.

I actually saw it the other day, and its surface was rusted to a reddish-brown color. I wondered if the shiny steel would appear from the surface when the sword was polished again.

As I briefly explained the other day, this National Treasure “Shichishito” is an iron sword with a unique shape with three branching blades protruding from each side, and is said to have been introduced to Japan from the Korean Peninsula during the Kofun period about 1,600 years ago. The sword is in the possession of Ishigami Jingu Shrine in Tenri City, Nara Prefecture, and the Nara National Museum has been examining it with the latest analytical equipment using X-rays in order to check its state of preservation in conjunction with an exhibition to be held this time to display the Seven Swords and other items.

The steel was in good condition, but the first X-ray CT (computed tomography) survey revealed that the gold inlays engraved on both sides of the sword were clearly visible. This clarification of some of the previously unclear characters is expected to further advance research on the inscriptions, which provide valuable clues to understanding Japan’s ancient history.

The inscription is as follows

(Front side) 16th day of the 4th month of the 4th year of the Heigo period in the year Taiyo (□□), made by Houou, a hundred knives, seven zodiac buttons and a fed-up hundred soldiers. □□□□
(Reverse side) Since the previous generation, this sword has never been made by a king of Japan.

The current research clearly shows the Chinese character for “Je” in “Baekje,” which some have suggested was a different character. Furthermore, the year of the production of the seven scrolls, which many researchers have read as the fourth year of the Chinese era “Taihe (=Taihe)” (369), was also believed to be the fourth year of ‘Taishi’ (468) because of the poor “Wa” remainder. This time, the possibility of “Tai Wa” has become even more likely, as traces of the “nogi-hen” with its missing inlays were more clearly visible.

It seems that the Nanashito has been X-rayed in the past, but the inscriptions on both sides overlapped, making it difficult to read the characters, and this time, since the CT was used to slice the object, the inscriptions on the front and back could be read in different images.

There is a debate over whether the sword was forged by beating the iron material or casted by pouring molten iron into a mold. However, it seems that a detailed examination with a specialist is necessary to determine whether the sword was forged or cast.

When we actually see it, we might be concerned about the rusting…etc. However, no serious deterioration or cracks were found in this investigation, and the physical examination seemed to be good this time.

Although we have not yet been able to decipher all of the inscriptions, we are happy to have learned even a single letter, as if we were there in the middle of solving a mystery of the times.

５月とは思えない蒸し暑さが体に堪えますが、名古屋では５月末から６月はじめにかけて運動会が行われる小学校も多いようです。ひと昔前は運動会と言えば秋、１０月頃が定番でしたが、残暑の厳しさから５月に行う学校も増えてきていますね。

ただ最近の５月は２５℃を超える日が当たり前にあり、運動会の練習や当日の観覧などの際には万全の暑さ対策をするよう注意喚起されています。

私が最後に子供の運動会を観に行ってから随分経ちますが、今の運動会事情は想像以上に変化しているようです。

２０１６年の文科省による「組体操等による事故防止について」という通知により、競技の安全性を重視し、運動会で花形種目だった組体操、騎馬戦などは廃止される傾向にあるようです。確かにどちらの競技も迫力があり子供たちの達成感も大きいのでしょうが、ハラハラしながら観ていた自分もおりました。

当日のお弁当に関しても、私が観覧していた頃から運動会の日に子どもと家族が一緒にお弁当を食べるという慣習は消えつつあり、子どもは教室でお弁当か給食、保護者は家に帰って食べていた記憶があります。

コロナ禍を経て更に色々と配慮された結果、午前中のみの開催や学年ごとの開催、オンラインでの配信などが行われ、今も継続されている学校もあるようです。オンライン配信と聞いてそこまで進化しているのかと驚きました。様々な事情で参加できない保護者にはありがたいことですが、機材の準備や個人情報への配慮など大変な部分も多いようです。

一時期は勝敗を決めるのは良くないという風潮から、選抜リレーを行わない、徒競走の順位をつけない、紅組白組で競わないという学校もあったようです。現在はまた少しずつ変化しているようですが配慮ばかりの運動会も大変そうですね。

昔のように家族が参加する競技などもないのでしょうね。私が今でも鮮明に覚えているのは、小学校の時の父親パン食い競争。必死にパンにかじりつく姿や、昔のように走れると錯覚しているお父さんたちの足がもつれて転倒する姿に爆笑しておりました。すみません…。今となってはその気持ちや状況に心から共感します。たまに走ると信じられないくらいに足が前に進まず驚きます。

中学時代の部活対抗リレーも最高でした。部活動をする時の格好で走るのですが、剣道部などは胴着をつけ裸足で走るので当然ながらかなり不利に。時には吹奏楽部が運動部を制するという事態も起き大変盛り上がりました。

なぜかそんなことばかり覚えているのですが、やはり運動会は観ていて楽しい方がいいなと個人的には思います。

最近になって運動会を開催するようになったという企業もあると聞きます。ふだん関わらない社員との親睦を深めるには最適な行事なのだそうです。

そういえば昨年名古屋駅で名古屋駅地区の企業対抗の綱引き大会が行われたというニュースがあり、面白いなぁと思ってみておりました。たしか優勝は生命保険会社だったでしょうか。

綱引きは古代より豊作、豊漁などの儀式として行われていましたが、スポーツとして行われたのは紀元前２５００年だとか。エジプトの古墳の壁には綱引きの様子が彫られているそうです。その後ヨーロッパで流行し、１９００年のパリオリンピックでは正式な陸上競技となりましたが１９２０年を最後に競技種目から外れたとのこと。

綱引きの世界選手権では日本代表チームはかなり強いとのことなので、またオリンピックに戻ってこないかなと期待してしまいます。

ふと思い出しました、ものすごく印象深い運動会。母方の実家のかなり山あいの小学校の運動会で、いとこが出るということで観に行くことになったのですが、親だけでなく祖父母、親戚までぞろぞろと集まり、競技が始まるやいなやお弁当を広げながらの大声援。確かビールを飲んでいた大人もいたような。小学生より観客の方が圧倒的に多く、観客は子どもたちの顔を全員知っており、自分の子ども以外も大声で名前を読んで応援するという賑やかさ。カルチャーショックというか羨ましいというか。そんな昔の（もしかして今も？）のどかな運動会の記憶が蘇ってきました。

The heat and humidity are unbelievably hot and humid in May, but many elementary schools in Nagoya hold their athletic meets from the end of May to the beginning of June. A decade ago, sports meets were usually held in the fall, around October, but due to the lingering summer heat, more and more schools are holding their sports meets in May.

However, recently in May, it is common for the temperature to rise above 25°C, and people are warned to take all possible measures against the heat when practicing for or watching the field day.

It has been a long time since I last went to see my children’s field day, but the current situation of fields days seems to have changed more than I imagined.

According to a 2016 Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology notice titled “Prevention of accidents due to gymnastics, etc.,” there seems to be a trend toward eliminating gymnastics and cavalry battles, which used to be flowery events at fields days, in order to emphasize the safety of the competition. It is true that both of these events are powerful and give children a great sense of accomplishment, but I was also on the edge of my seat watching the events.

The custom of children and their families eating lunch together on the day of athletic meets has been disappearing since the time I was a spectator.

After the Corona Disaster, many more considerations were made, and as a result, the event was held only in the morning, by grade level, and delivered online, and some schools are still continuing this practice. I was surprised to hear that online delivery had evolved to such an extent. This is great for parents who are unable to participate for various reasons, but there are many difficulties involved, such as preparing the equipment and taking personal information into consideration.

At one time, there were schools that did not hold relay races, did not rank the teams, and did not have red and white teams compete against each other, because they felt that it was not good to decide who would win and who would lose. Nowadays, things seem to be changing little by little, but it must be difficult to hold a field day with so many considerations.

I guess there are no competitions in which families participate as in the past. I still vividly remember my father’s bread-eating contest in elementary school. I used to laugh at the sight of the fathers desperately biting into the bread and the fathers who thought they could run like in the old days, but their legs got tangled and they fell over. I am sorry…. Now I can truly relate to those feelings and situations. Sometimes when I run, I am amazed that my legs don’t move forward unbelievably.

The inter-club relay in junior high school was also great. We had to run in our club outfits, but the kendo club, for example, had to wear body armor and run barefoot, so naturally we were at a considerable disadvantage. Sometimes the brass band club would win over the athletic clubs, and it was very exciting.

I don’t know why I remember such things, but I personally think that athletic meets should be fun to watch.

I have heard that some companies have recently started to hold fields days. I hear that it is a great way to deepen the friendship between employees who are not usually involved with each other.

I heard that a tug-of-war tournament was held at Nagoya Station last year between companies in the Nagoya Station area, and I thought it was an interesting event. The winner was a life insurance company, I think.

Tug of war has been played since ancient times as a ritual to celebrate a good harvest or a good catch of fish, but it was first played as a sport in 2500 BC. It is said that the tug-of-war was first practiced as a sport in 2500 B.C. In Egypt, there are carvings of tug-of-war on the wall of a tomb. Later, it became popular in Europe and became an official athletic event at the 1900 Paris Olympics, but was dropped from the sport after 1920.

The Japanese national team is said to be quite strong in the tug-of-war world championships, so I am hoping that tug-of-war will return to the Olympics.

I suddenly remembered a very memorable field day. I went to see the field day at my mother’s elementary school, which was located in a mountainous area, because my cousin was going to participate. As I recall, some adults were drinking beer. There were far more spectators than elementary school students, and the spectators knew all the children’s faces, and even those who were not their own children were cheering for them by reading their names out loud. Was it culture shock or envy? Such an old (or perhaps still old?) I remember such an idyllic field day.

そろそろ梅雨入りした地域もあるようですね。髪の毛もうまくまとまらないし、どことなくべとつくし…梅雨とはまだ言いませんが、先日からいろいろ湿気との闘いが始まっているような気がします。

でですね、予告しておりました

奈良国立博物館開館130年記念 特別展「超 国宝ー祈りのかがやきー」へ行って参りました！。ご覧の通りお天気は何とは雨は免れました。

本日は実際の画像がありませんので、検索等で実物を調べながらブログを読んでいただきますと幸いでございます。

それでは鹿に歓迎を受けながらの入館です。

さすがに東京国立博物館のような待ち時間ではなかったので、すぐに館内には入ることはできました。もちろん館内は撮影禁止でした。館内ですが出展数が143点ということもあり、ものすごくぎゅっと詰まった国宝展と言った印象でしょうか。

まず、入館すぐの目の前に法隆寺の国宝「観音菩薩立像（百済観音）」が展示されております。法隆寺での鑑賞ですともの凄く遠い位置から正面もしくは側面からしか見えないのですが、今回の展示はなんと観音の周りを距離も近くぐるりと鑑賞することができます。

百済観音の背面は、竹を模した柱に支えられた光背が特徴なのですが、その光背の支柱には竹の節が彫り込まれておりまるで竹の自然な様子を表現しているかのようです。支柱の基部には山岳文が描かれており、広大な山岳と対比することで、観音菩薩の広大無辺な姿を表現していると考えられいるようなのですが、その竹の光背のリアルを間近で見ることが出来ました。知らないと本当に竹？と思わせるほどの精巧な作り。また、あの百済観音のミステリアスな表情や緩やかな背の美しいラインをしっかりと見ることが出来る貴重な距離であります。

そして、今回は奈良での国宝展ということもあり、法隆寺をはじめ、東大寺、薬師寺、元興寺、唐招提寺、春日大社そして石上神宮などなど奈良でしかみれない仏像や調度品などが、すべてご紹介できませんが一同に鑑賞できる絶好のチャンスでもあります。

例えば、円成寺の国宝「大日如来坐像」。こちらは運慶の初期の作品でして、今回はじめて鑑賞ができたのですが完璧な美を追求した若かりし運慶の気迫が感じ取れるようでした。このように、普段あまりお目にかかれなかった国宝も。

そして予習しておりました元興寺の「八雷神面」。見てきましたが、裏から見ますとやはりお面。口のようになっているところが紐のようなもので開くようになっており、面のところどころにお姿やお顔があります。眼力バッキバキのちょっと夢に出てきそうなインパクトのあるご尊顔ですが、結構大きいお面ですのでどうやって使っていたのか気になりますね。

そんな中、時代を超えて素直にかわいい！と思える国宝もありまして。春日大社の国宝「金地螺鈿毛抜形太刀」なのですが、平安貴族が神様へ奉納した太刀なのですが、金を惜しみなく使いその中に螺鈿の猫と雀が追いかけっこしている螺鈿装飾が今でもしっかり確認することが出来ます。ペット好きの貴族の遊び心が時代を超えて、今でもその姿にかわいい！と思えます。

そして、展示室の最後に展示され大変注目を浴びていたのが、石上神宮の国宝「七支刀」。

一度訪れたことがあるのですが、とても厳粛な美しい神宮といった印象でしたが、場所も古墳群に近いということもあるのですが、なぜ「七支刀」がここに奉納されていたのか謎が深まるばかりなのですが。

古墳時代（四世紀）より石上神宮の神庫に「六叉鉾」として伝来されてきたものです。鉄製で身の左右に各3本の枝刃を段違いに造り出した特異な形をした剣でして、全長74.8㎝。下から約3分の1のところで折損していますが、剣身の棟には表裏合わせて60余字の銘文が金象嵌で表わされており、その解読が明治以降続けられ、現在では大体次の様に解釈されているようです。

（裏面） 先世以来未有此刀百済□世□奇生聖音故爲倭王旨造□□□世

冒頭の「泰□」の2字目は、現在僅かに禾偏（のぎへん）を思わせる線が残っているのみで、旁（つくり）にあたる所にはこの文字を探究した人がつけたと思われる傷痕があって、字は詳らかではありません。しかし、「泰和（たいわ）」として東晋（とうしん）の年号「太和」（西暦366～371）の音の仮借とみる説があり、それによるとこの七支刀は西暦369年に製作されたと考えられます。というか、古墳時代にすでに年号が存在していたことに驚きです…。

また、この七支刀は『日本書紀』に神功皇后摂政52年に百済から献上されたとみえる「七枝刀（ななつさやのたち）」にあたると推測されており、前述の推定に誤りがなければ、この七支刀の銘文は『日本書紀』の紀年を訂正し、その伝承を裏付けることになります。しかも、この銘文は我が国古代史上の絶対年代を明確にする最古の史料のようであります。

とまあ時間の許す限り滞在がしたのですが、もうちょっとゆっくりみたかった…もう一度行きたい。と思いながら閉館の17：00展覧会を後にしました。

なにせ会場は湧いておりますので、ぜひ予習をしてかれるとおススメいたします。また行きたい。

It seems that the rainy season has begun in some areas. My hair doesn’t manage to stay in place, it feels sticky somehow… I wouldn’t call it a rainy season yet, but I feel like I’ve been struggling with humidity since the other day.

So, here it is, as I had announced!

I went to the special exhibition “Super National Treasures: The Brightness of Prayer” in commemoration of the 130th anniversary of the Nara National Museum! As you can see, the weather was somehow spared from rain.

I don’t have any actual pictures today, so I would appreciate it if you could read this blog while looking up the actual exhibition through search engines, etc.

Now, let’s enter the museum while being welcomed by deer.

As expected, the wait was not as long as at the Tokyo National Museum, so we were able to enter the museum right away. Of course, photography was prohibited inside the museum. The museum has 143 exhibits, which gives the impression of a very tightly packed exhibition of national treasures.

First of all, the National Treasure of Horyuji Temple, “Standing Kannon Bosatsu (Hyakusai Kannon),” is displayed right in front of you. In the Horyuji exhibit, you can only see the statue from the front or the side from a great distance away, but this time, you can see all around the Kannon from a close distance.

The back of the Kannon features a halo supported by pillars that resemble bamboo, and the pillars are carved with bamboo joints, as if to represent the natural state of bamboo. The base of the pillar is decorated with a mountain pattern, which is thought to express the vastness of Kannon Bosatsu (Bodhisattva Guanyin) by contrasting it with the vastness of mountains. If you don’t know, it is really bamboo? If you don’t know, it is really bamboo? It is also a precious distance to be able to see the mysterious expression and the beautiful line of the gentle back of that Hyakusai Kannon firmly.

This exhibition of national treasures in Nara is also a great opportunity to view Buddhist statues and furnishings that can only be seen in Nara, including those of Horyuji Temple, Todaiji Temple, Yakushiji Temple, Gankoji Temple, Toshodaiji Temple, Kasuga Taisha Shrine, and Ishigami Jingu Shrine, to name a few.

For example, the National Treasure “Seated Dainichi Nyorai” at Enjoji Temple is an early work by Unkei. This is one of Unkei’s early works, which I was able to see for the first time, and I could feel the spirit of the young Unkei in his pursuit of perfect beauty. As you can see, there are some national treasures that we do not usually have the chance to see.

And then there was the “Hachiraijin Mask” at Genko-ji Temple, which I had studied in advance. I have seen it, but it is still a mask when seen from the back. The mouth-like part can be opened with a string, and there are figures and faces in various parts of the mask. The face has a strong impact, as if it might appear in a dream, but it is a rather large mask, so I wonder how it was used.

I wonder how they used to use them! There is a national treasure of Kasuga-taisha Shrine, “Kanade”. It is a sword dedicated to the gods by Heian aristocrats, and even today you can see mother-of-pearl inlay decorations of a cat and a sparrow chasing each other in the sword. The playful spirit of the pet-loving aristocrats has transcended the ages, and even today, the cat and sparrow are still cute! I think it is cute!

The last item on display in the exhibition room that attracted much attention was the National Treasure of Ishigami Jingu Shrine, the “Shichi-shi-tou” (Seven Swords).

I have visited the shrine once before and had the impression that it was a very solemn and beautiful shrine, but the location of the shrine is close to a group of ancient tombs, and the mystery of why the “Seven Swords” were dedicated here has only deepened.

It was brought to the Ishigami Shrine treasury as a “six-forked spear” from the Kofun period (4th century). It is a peculiarly shaped sword made of iron with three branch blades on each side of the body, each with a different step, and is 74.8 cm in length. The sword is 74.8 cm in length and is broken at about one-third from the bottom, but there are more than 60 characters inlaid in gold on the ridge of the sword body.

(Reverse side) Since the previous generation, this sword has not been made by the king of Japan.

The second character “泰□” at the beginning of the inscription has only a few lines that suggest a Jasmin (禾偏) radical, and there is a scar on the side of the radical that appears to have been made by a person who explored this character, so the character is not clear. However, there is a theory that the character “Taiwa” is a loan from the Eastern Jin Dynasty year “Taiwa” (A.D. 366-371), and according to this theory, this seven-syllable sword was made in A.D. 369. It is surprising that the year already existed in the Kofun period.

If the above-mentioned estimation is correct, the inscription on the seven-syllable sword corrects the chronology of the “Nihon Shoki” and confirms its tradition. Moreover, this inscription seems to be the oldest historical document that clarifies the absolute age of the sword in Japan’s ancient history.

I stayed as long as I could, but I wanted to spend more time at the museum…I want to go again. I left the exhibition at 17:00 when it closed.

I would recommend you to go to the exhibition after you have done some preparatory study. I would like to go again.
