先日、車の点検に行ったところディーラーさんから来年のカレンダ―をいただきました。

 

 

 

 

少し前ですと、今年もお世話になりましたのご挨拶を兼ねていろいろなところからけっこういただいていましたが、時代は移り、カレンダーは携帯で確認・管理したり、エコの観点からも紙のカレンダーはずいぶんなくなり、いただくくことも飾ることさえもあまりなくなりました。

とはいえ、久しぶりに紙のカレンダーを「今年もお世話になりました」なんて言葉を添えて手渡しでいただきますと、この一年があっという間だったことに驚き、そして焦るところまでが毎年の流れでありますが、年の瀬にむかっていることを実感するんですよ…。

 

じつは、これは昭和世代気質なのか自分だけなのか分かりませんが、一つだけは紙のカレンダーをキッチンの片隅に貼っておきたくなるのですが、なんなんでしょうね。ざっとなのですが予定を書いてみたり、カレンダーをめくりながらこれからくる月を手の感触で確かめると、来年自分の様子などが頭の中でうっすら広がり、この一年の起承転結みたいなものを手に取って確認したいのか。よくわかりません。

 

というわけで、紙カレンダーをちょっと手放せない昭和世代（自分）、今年のカレンダーの下に来年の真新しいカレンダーをそっとセット完了しました笑。

The other day, when I took my car in for inspection, the dealer gave me a calendar for next year.

Not too long ago, I’d receive quite a few calendars from various places as a way of saying “Thank you for your business this year.” But times have changed. Now, we check and manage calendars on our phones, and from an eco-friendly perspective, paper calendars have become much less common. I rarely receive them anymore, let alone display them.

Still, when I receive a paper calendar in person after so long, accompanied by words like “Thank you for your continued support this year,” I’m struck by how quickly this year flew by. That sense of urgency is part of the annual cycle, but it really makes me feel the year drawing to a close…

 

I’m not sure if this is just a Showa-era thing or if it’s just me, but there’s one paper calendar I still want to stick up in a corner of my kitchen. What is it about them? I jot down rough plans on them, or flip through the pages, feeling the texture of the coming months under my fingers. Maybe it’s about wanting to hold and confirm the rise, development, turning point, and conclusion of this past year in my mind. I’m not really sure.

 

So, as a member of the Showa generation who just can’t quite let go of paper calendars (me), I’ve quietly set next year’s brand-new calendar underneath this year’s. Lol.
