本日は花曇りのお天気となり、少し肌寒い名古屋ですが、このところの暖かさで一気に桜が咲きました🌸午後からお天気が崩れてしまいましたが、週末には満開を迎えるようなので、強い雨風が吹かないことを祈るばかりです。

 

 

さてこの週末はいよいよ『覚王山祭り』が開催されます。

覚王山の日泰寺参道では、約20年前から単なる祭りとは一線を画すアートと文化を中心に、名古屋で住みたい町の上位に位置する覚王山ならではのアーティスティックでどこかノスタルジックな祭りが、春祭・夏祭・秋祭と年に三回されます。 人気のスイーツやカフェ、飲食ブース、音楽やダンスステージなどで会場を盛り上げています。お洒落なお店から、駄菓子系のお店まで、きっと探している物が見つかるはず･･･です。

 

日泰寺は、日本で唯一のいずれの宗派にも属さない日本の全仏教徒のための寺院で、釈尊（お釈迦さま）のご真骨をタイ国（当時シャム国）より拝受し、仏教各宗代表が協議し奉安する為に1904年（明治37年）に建立されました。釈尊を表す「覺王」を山号とし、日本とシャム（暹羅）国の友好を象徴して覺王山 日暹寺として創建された。その後、昭和14年（1939年）シャム国のタイ王国への改名に合わせて、昭和17年（1942年）日泰寺に改名されました。

 

そんな日泰寺の境内には五重の塔があるのですが、この五重塔、参道側からではなく風光舎のある姫池通沿い側から入ったところからの景色が、京都にある八坂の塔の界隈の雰囲気にとても似ている気がするのです。私の写真の腕がないので、伝わらないかもしれないのが残念ですが、「京都に行かなくても、ここにあるがね」と名古屋弁が出てきそうな雰囲気なので、ぜひ覚王山祭りも兼ねて見てみてほしいところです。ちなみに「全然違う」というクレームはお受けできません(笑)

 

 

 

さて、先日からお伝えしておりますが、本日より「器と骨董展」を開催しております。店内の模様替えもいたしまして、八重桜が綺麗に咲いております。日泰寺周辺の桜のお花見とともに、是非足を運んでみてくださいませ。ご来店お待ちしております。

It is a little chilly in Nagoya today with cloudy weather, but the recent warmth has made the cherry blossoms bloom all at once 🌸 The weather has been broken since this afternoon, but I just hope that strong winds and rain will not blow as the blossoms will be in full bloom by the weekend.

 

Now this weekend, the “Kakuozan Festival” will finally be held.

For the past 20 years, the Nittaiji approach to Kakuozan has been the site of an artistic and somewhat nostalgic festival held three times a year (spring, summer, and fall festivals) that focuses on art and culture that sets it apart from other festivals and is unique to Kakuozan, one of Nagoya’s top desirable places to live. Popular sweets, cafes, food and drink booths, and music and dance stages enliven the event. From fashionable stores to candy stores, you are sure to find what you are looking for….

 

Nittaiji Temple is the only temple in Japan that is not affiliated with any religious sect, and was built in 1904 (Meiji 37) to receive the bones of Sakyamuni Buddha from Thailand (then Siam) and to enshrine them after discussions among representatives of all Buddhist sects. The temple was named “覺王” (覺王), which stands for Shakyamuni Buddha, and was built as 覺王山日暹寺, symbolizing the friendship between Japan and Siam (Siam). Later, in 1939 (Showa 14), the temple was renamed to Nittaiji in 1942 (Showa 17), in conjunction with the renaming of Siam to the Kingdom of Thailand.

 

There is a five-story pagoda in the precincts of the temple, and the view from the entrance along Himeike-dori where the Fumikosha is located is very similar to that of the Yasaka-no-to area in Kyoto. The atmosphere is so similar that you might hear a Nagoya dialect saying, “You don’t have to go to Kyoto, it’s right here,” so I would like you to visit the area and see the Kakuozan Festival as well. By the way, we cannot accept the claim that it is totally different (laugh).

 

 

As we have been telling you since the other day, we are holding the “Vessels and Antiques Exhibition” from today. The store has been redecorated and the double-flowered cherry trees are blooming beautifully. Please visit us and enjoy the cherry blossoms around Nittaiji Temple.
