今日は清々しいといいますかちょっと暑かったくらいでしたね…。そろそろ熱中症が心配にもなってきました。ゆっくり暑さに慣れるようにじんわりと汗をかくのがいいようですので、今日は私も少し汗をかいてみようと歩いてみました。

今日は、名古屋でも屈指の高級住宅街の南山界隈をそぞろ歩いてきました。そこでですね、いい出会いがありまして。巡り会いたい方との出会いはそう。こうやっていつも突然なんです。

狛犬ならぬ狛ライオンでしょうか。神社好きなら必ずチェックします狛犬。私的には狛犬の表情、毛並み、ポーズなどなどチェック項目があるのですが、よしよしチェックをしようと狛犬に向かいましたら、狛犬？狛獅子？いえいえなんと狛ライオンでありました。

といいますか、みなさまに確認ですがこちらは「狛ライオン」でいいですよね笑。少し見方を変えますと、Lisa Larsonのライオンにも似ていなくもないのですが。

以前、狛犬について少し調べたりしたのですが、狛犬とは、主に魔除けのために神社に置かれる動物型の像のことでして、今ではほとんどが石像なのですが昔はほとんどが木製であったり。

狛犬の起源は諸説あり、エジプトのスフィンクスに由来するとする説や、仏教が日本に伝来する際に仏像前に2頭の獅子を置く風習も一緒に伝わったといった説が有力であります。これが時を経て宮中や寺、神社に置かれるようになった。狛犬は2体で対にして配置されるが、平安時代ごろから向かって右に獅子、左に狛犬と言う形の異なる2体を組み合わせるようになったとされており、獅子のほうは口を開けていて、狛犬のほうは口を閉じて頭に角を生やしているのが一般的。左右の2体を合わせて狛犬と呼ぶのが通例であります。

ですが、狛犬はこれです。と、はっきりとした決まりごとはないとのこと。

ですので、このLisa Larsonのライオン似の狛ライオンのとても親しみやすく、遭遇しましたら絶対みなさん笑いだすくらいのいい表情もいいんですよね。とにもかくにも、最近見た狛犬？狛ライオンの中で忘れられないインパクトのある２体でした。

Today was a bit too hot to be refreshing…. I am starting to worry about heat stroke. It seems to be a good idea to sweat slowly to get used to the heat, so I decided to go for a walk today to try sweating a little.

Today, I strolled around the Nanzan neighborhood, one of the most exclusive residential areas in Nagoya. I had a nice encounter there. That’s how it is with people I want to meet. It always happens out of the blue like this.

I think they are not komainu (guardian dogs), but komaina (guardian lions). If you like shrines, you must check out komainu. I have my own checklist of things to look for in a komainu, such as the expression on their faces, their fur, their pose, etc. When I went to the komainu to check them out, I was surprised to see a komainu? I went to the komainu to check their expressions, fur, poses, etc. I found that they were komainu? No, they were actually komainu lions.

I was just checking to see if it was a lion or a dog, but it turned out to be a lion. It looks a bit like Lisa Larson’s lion, if you look at it in a different way.

I have done some research on komainu before. Komainu are animal-shaped statues placed at shrines mainly to ward off evil spirits, and although most of them are now stone statues, in the past they were mostly made of wood.

There are various theories about the origin of komainu, with one theory claiming that they originated from the Egyptian sphinx and another that when Buddhism was introduced to Japan, the custom of placing two lions in front of a statue of Buddha was also introduced. Over time, these lions came to be placed in palaces, temples, and shrines. The lion is usually open-mouthed, while the guardian dog is usually closed-mouthed with horns on its head. However, this is the way the komainu are presented. There are no clear rules for what a “komainu” should look like.

春になり暖かくなってきて、空を舞う燕をこのところよく見かけるようになりました。

例年3月には西日本や南西諸島、４月に入ると東日本の広範囲で見られるようになり、4月下旬には北海道にも飛来するようです。

燕は「夏鳥」と呼ばれる夏を日本で過ごす渡り鳥。多くの燕は春のこの時期になると遠く東南アジアや台湾から日本に飛来しますが、一部、日本で冬を越す燕（「越冬ツバメ」と呼ばれる）もいるそうです。なかなか越冬ツバメを見かけることはないですが…

藁や泥、枯れた葉などを集めると自分の唾液で固めながら巣を作ります。新しく巣を作ることもあれば空いている巣を改修したり、前年と同じ巣をそのまま使うこともあるようです。よく人家や駅など人の多い所に巣が見られるのはカラスなどの外敵から身を守るためだといわれています。

春から夏に向けて繁殖し、親鳥はせっせと餌を集めて子育てをします。風光舎近くにも燕がおりまして、燕の子たちが力の限り口を開けて餌をもらおうとしている姿はなんとも愛おしく感じます。

孵化から巣立ちまでは３週間から1か月程度です。子育てが終わると巣を離れて集団で過ごすようになり、9月から１０月にかけて越冬地である東南アジアや台湾に戻っていきます。

子育てが終わった燕がいつのタイミングで集団となっているのか少し不思議じゃないですか？

燕の世界ではみんな家族のようなもので、集合場所などもあったりするのかなとか…ちょっと想像してみると笑ってしまいますよね。

去年、コンビニに「燕の巣があります」と丁寧に看板が出ていて雛が巣立つまで見守られている様子に心温まったことを思い出しました。

ちなみにフンなど気になる方はＮＰＯ法人バードリサーチがフン受けなども配布しているそうなので活用するといいかもしれませんね。

燕も大切な命、そして身近な春の風物詩であり、また幸運を運ぶといわれている動物でもあります。人間の近くで生きることを決めた燕たちと、人間が長く共生できることを願いたいものですね。

皆さまも街中で燕の姿を見かけたら、驚かさないようにそっと観察してみてください。

It’s spring and it’s getting warmer, and I often see swallows flying in the sky.

They can be seen in western Japan and the Nansei Islands in March, in eastern Japan in April, and even in Hokkaido in late April.

The swallow is a migratory bird that spends the summer in Japan, called “summer bird”. Many swallows fly to Japan from faraway Southeast Asia and Taiwan at this time of spring, but there are some swallows that spend the winter in Japan (called “wintering swallows”). I don’t often see overwintering swallows…

It collects straw, mud, and dead leaves and builds a nest by hardening it with its own saliva. They may build a new nest, repair an empty nest, or use the same nest as the previous year. It is said that nests are often seen in places with many people, such as houses and train stations, to protect themselves from predators such as crows.

Breeding from spring to summer, parent birds diligently gather food and raise their young. There are swallows near Fukousha, and I love how the swallows open their mouths as much as they can to get food.

It takes about 3 weeks to 1 month from hatching to fledging. After raising their young, they leave the nest and spend time in groups, returning to their wintering grounds of Southeast Asia and Taiwan from September to October.

Isn’t it a little strange when the swallows that have finished raising their children form a group?

In Tsubame’s world, everyone is like a family, and I wonder if there’s a meeting place or something… Just imagine it and you’ll laugh.

Last year, I remembered how heartwarming it was to see a sign in a convenience store politely saying, “There is a bird’s nest,” and the chicks being watched over until they leave the nest.

By the way, if you are interested in feces, the NPO Bird Research seems to be distributing feces receivers, so it might be a good idea to make use of them.

The swallow is also an important life, a familiar feature of spring, and an animal that is said to bring good luck. I would like to hope that humans can coexist for a long time with the swallows that have decided to live near humans.

If you see a swallow in the city, please observe it gently so as not to startle it.

昨日の予報通り本日ここ名古屋は雨。

車での通勤をしているのですが、車窓から外を眺めていますと、眺める景色が一コマ一コマ切り取られた画のように見えることがございます。

今日のような雨の中の景色ですと、晴れの日とはまた違った景色に見えてきます。

私がいつも通りすぎている東山動植物園の今朝の景色は、新緑の種類やスピードが少しづつ違うこともあり微妙でいて様々な新緑色のパレットで描かれているようでした。そのさまざまな新緑色の重なりにほんのり薄墨がかかり、その緑に深みが増すように思えます。

以前、日本の伝統色のお話をいたしましたが緑系の伝統色は82色もあるそうです。かつての古人は、きっとこの新緑のパレットをなんとか表現したかったでは…と私は思うのですが、それゆえに82色もの伝統色が生まれたのではないかと勝手に推測しております。

今朝の新緑のパレットは私が勝手に考えてみたのですが、少し深みのある緑の左伊多津万色（さいたづまいろ）、若々しい若草色（わかくさいろ）、これから葉が開くであろう市紅茶（しこうちゃ）、鸚緑（おうりょく）と、いったところでしょうか…。どんな色かは色見本を検索していただきたいのですが、雨のため少し葉の色のトーンが落ち着いたパレットであることがお判りいただけるかと思います。

そんな薄墨がかった新緑のパレットに今朝はしとしとと降る雨の音がかぶさり、良い天気ではありませんが、このところの春の騒がしさが一旦休まるようでそれはそれでよかったです。

As forecasted yesterday, it is raining here in Nagoya today.

I commute to work by car, and when I look out the window of the car, the scenery I see sometimes looks like a picture cut out frame by frame.

When it rains, as it did today, the scenery looks different from what it does on a sunny day.

This morning’s view of the Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Garden, which I usually pass by, seemed to be painted with a palette of subtle and varied fresh green colors, with the variety and speed of the new greenery differing slightly. The layers of these various fresh green colors were slightly tinted with light sumi ink, which seemed to add depth to the greenery.

I have previously mentioned the traditional colors of Japan, and it is said that there are 82 traditional green colors. I am sure that the ancients must have wanted to express this palette of fresh green somehow… and I am guessing that this is why 82 traditional colors were created.

I have taken the liberty of thinking of the palette of this morning’s new greenery as: a slightly deep green (saitazuma-iro), a youthful wakakusa-iro, a city black tea (shiko-cha) whose leaves are about to open, and oiryoku (oiryoku)…. Please search for color swatches to see what kind of colors you can expect, but you can see that the palette is a bit subdued due to the rain.

The palette of fresh green tinged with a hint of black was accompanied by the sound of drizzling rain this morning, and although it is not a beautiful day, I am glad that it seems to have put the recent spring frenzy to rest.

昨日に引き続き今朝も目の調子があまり良くなく、目がごろごろしております。

花粉症？いや黄砂？どちらも考えられますが、花粉症だとしたらついに来てしまった…という感じがいたします。わたくし花粉症には全く無縁でしたので…。

花粉症かも？！と少しでも感じたらすぐに薬を服用した方が良いとよく聞きますが、私のような目が霞む、ごろつくなどの症状でも薬を服用したら治るものなのでしょうか。気になります。

さて、本日４月１４日は、「オレンジデー」だそうです。

オレンジがたくさん収穫される日？いや違います。オレンジデーとは、愛媛県の柑橘類生産農家が１９９４年に制定した記念日のようです。

２月１４日のバレンタインデーで愛を告白し、３月１４日のホワイトデーでその返礼をしたあと、その二人の愛情を確かなものとする日だそう。

オレンジ（またはオレンジ色のプレゼント）をもって相手を訪問する日ということで、欧米ではオレンジが多産であることから繁栄のシンボルとされ、花嫁がオレンジの花を飾る風習があり、オレンジは結婚と関係の深いものなのだそうです。

他にも「パートナーデー」でもあるそうで、こちらは佐賀県佐賀市が１９９８年に家庭や職場・地域等で互いを思い遺り、男女が共に参画する社会を目指す日として制定したそうです。

そして今回は海外版として、世界の今日は何の日？も少し調べてみました。

まずはお隣の国、韓国の４月１９日は何の日？という事で・・・

今日は「ブラックデー」だそうです。

バレンタインデー、ホワイトデーのどちらでも何ももらえず恋人ができなかった者同士が黒い服を着て集まり、チャジャン麺（麺に黒いあんかけをかけた料理）やコーヒーなど黒い物を飲食する日。

韓国ではその後も各月１４日が恋人に関する記念日になっているそうで、毎月何かしらイベントがあるのは楽しいような、寂しいようなそんな複雑な気持ちになってしまいますね。

記念日のお話から脱線してしまいますが、ブラックデーでよく食べられるチャジャン麺、個人的に大好物でして毎月１４日はチャジャン麵の日と制定したいくらいです。

名古屋でチャジャン麵を食べられるお店をいろいろ調べていますがあまり見つからず…もしご存知の方いらっしゃいましたらまた教えてください（笑）

The day when a lot of oranges are harvested? No, it’s not. Orange Day seems to be a memorial day established in 1994 by citrus farmers in Ehime Prefecture.

After professing love on February 14th, Valentine’s Day, and returning the love on March 14th, White Day, it is said to be a day to confirm the love between the two.

Since then, the 14th of each month in Korea has become a memorial day for lovers.

I’m going to digress from the anniversary story, but I personally love jjajang noodles, which are often eaten on Black Day, and I would like to establish the 14th of every month as a day for jjajang noodles.

I’ve been looking for a lot of restaurants in Nagoya where I can eat jjajang noodles, but I haven’t found many… If anyone knows, please let me know .
