Hello everyone. I am Staff N.

The other morning, when I opened the curtains, a cat jumped out of the window, which surprised me.

I wondered what he was doing, and it seemed that he was playing with tearing the screen door and pulling it inside.

The screen door was almost worn out, so it’s a mystery how long I’ve been playing with it.

I woke up in the cold every morning, and lately I’ve been feeling unwell.

Fortunately, I noticed it early and the cat didn’t escape because the screen door was completely gone.

The plate was cute, so it doesn’t matter, but please enjoy the picture of the scallops lol

Today, October 22nd, is the Jidai Matsuri, which was held for the first time in three years.

The Festival of the Ages is a grand festival held at Heian Jingu Shrine on October 22 every year (postponed in case of rain). Kyoto, as the capital of Japan, showcases the best of traditional craft techniques cultivated over more than 1,000 years in moving picture scrolls of history and customs. The main focus is to

For this reason, each of the costumes and ritual implements used in each historical procession is unique in that it is the “real thing” created based on strict historical research.

Led by the sounds of flutes and drums played by the Kinnotai members of the Meiji Restoration, the procession of about 2,000 people stretches for about 2 kilometers in sequence, going back to the Enryaku period when Heian-kyo was built from the Meiji Restoration period, and the three major festivals of Kyoto, the capital of history and tradition. As one of the festivals, it is a festival that represents autumn in Kyoto.
The Jidai Matsuri began in 1893 as an event to celebrate the founding of Heian Jingu Shrine and the 1100th anniversary of the transfer of the capital to Heian.

The Jidai Matsuri was founded with exactly the same intention as Heian Jingu Shrine, which was built as a culmination of Kyoto’s town revitalization projects, which showed a remarkable decline due to the Meiji Restoration, and as a symbol of the enthusiasm of the people who gathered there.

On October 22nd, Kyoto’s birthday, the intention was to “create something that allows one to understand the history and culture of Kyoto at a glance” and “create something that cannot be imitated by anyone other than Kyoto”. A lot of pride is woven into it.

The Jidai Matsuri Gyoretsu is operated by the citizens’ organization “Heian Kosha” (11 companies in total), which consists of the whole city of Kyoto.

Initially, there were 6 lines and 500 people, but now there are 20 processions covering 8 periods: the Meiji Restoration, Edo, Azuchi-Momoyama, Muromachi, Yoshino, Kamakura, Fujiwara, and Enryaku periods. In addition to being in charge of each line, the women’s procession of the Edo period, the medieval period, and the Heian period women’s procession are served in rotation by the local women’s federation in Kyoto and the five geisha districts, with a total of about 2,000 people. It has become a large procession to participate.

In addition, the 12,000 pieces of furnishings, costumes, and ceremonial implements have been meticulously researched and recreated using the best of the traditional craft techniques that Kyoto has cultivated as the capital for 1,000 years. A picture scroll of a living era unfolds.

And the true significance of this festival is that this magnificent procession is a procession that accompanies the Shinko procession.

In other words, we would like the spirits of Emperor Kanmu and Emperor Komei, the enshrined deities of Heian Jingu Shrine, to make a tour of the city of Kyoto so that you can get a close look at the lives of the citizens, and wish all the citizens of Kyoto to unite in peace. A festival of prayer, that is the festival of the ages.

There are various costumes, but N focused on the Ishin Kinnotai.

The blue and black kimono is cool.

If you are a history buff, it would be fun to go see the costumes of your favorite historical figures.

Even so, I wonder how this casting will be decided.

I think it’s a local government, but Ryoma Sakamoto and others are probably popular.

I was writing a blog thinking about what I should do.

It looks like it would be difficult to walk, so it would be better if I was carried on my shoulder, but I’m not good at standing out, so I’d like to hide in the crowd.

Which costume would you like to wear?

You can also watch the Jidai Matsuri with a live camera, so N also watched it while writing a blog.

There are horses wandering around ignoring what you say, and modern cars are running on the other side of the road, but people walking on this side are dressed in the old days. It was.

I envy Kyoto for having so many historical events like this.

I looked it up and found out that the Mitani Festival [no spectators/reduced event] (Miya Matsuri) was held on October 22, 2022 and October 23, 2022 in Gamagori City.

In 2022, the scale will be reduced and it will be held without spectators.

The Mitani Festival, known as one of the strangest festivals in the world, is a rare festival in which a large number of male shrine parishioners (ujiko) powerfully pull beautiful giant floats called yama between Yatsugu Shrine and Wakamiya Shrine. Thank you.

The highlight is the “Kaichu Togyo” held on the beach in front of Miya Onsen on the second day. It is said that the scene where the four gorgeous floats go into the sea one after another with the signal gun is very exciting.

You can see a powerful spectacle of about 200 men marching through the sea with loud shouts and splashes.

Oh my God, there was also an interesting festival in Aichi Prefecture.

I’m sorry I didn’t study N enough.

At Antique Fukousha, we are looking forward to purchasing hanging scrolls from festivals and festivals.

See you soon
