本日の名古屋は雨。こんな日は、お店の中の片付けやお掃除をいつもより丁寧にしているのですが、ふと手に取った茶器の柄がきになりまして、ちょっとお勉強してみました。

 

 

 

 

こちらの茶器は江戸後期の瀬戸の陶工　「半助」の作品であります。ふっくらとした形に細かく優しい文字に何故か惹かれますね。

描かれた文字は中国の漢詩「赤壁賦」。

 

「赤壁賦」は蘇東坡の代表作の詩でして、中国、北宋(ほくそう)の政治家、文学者。この詩は、宋の元豊五年（1082年）旧暦七月十六日夜の時の事が詩の中で詠まれた詩のようです。

そもそも三国志で有名な赤壁の戦いは西暦208年の出来事であり、それから約800年後に、蘇軾が訪れた古戦場とされる場所の景色と、それを前にしての蘇軾の心情が綴られている大変情緒溢れる詩なのですが、如何せん教養が薄いもので、ここでお勉強させていただきますので、少々お付き合いのほどを。

 

「赤壁賦」は2つの詩によって構成されているようでして、最初は7月に書かれた「前赤壁の賦」、そしてもうひとつは、それから3ヶ月後の10月に書かれた「後赤壁の賦」のようですが、実は蘇軾が遊んだ赤壁は、偽の赤壁であるようです。

 

なぜならば、蘇軾が訪問したのは湖北省黄岡市黄州区西北の長江北岸の赤鼻磯であり「東坡赤壁（別名、文赤壁）」と呼ばれてるようです。この地は実際の戦場ではなかったのですが、晩唐の詩人杜牧が詩に詠んだことから赤壁の古戦場と見なされるようになり、蘇軾の作品によって、実際の古戦場以上に有名になってしまった場所のようで、本来の赤壁の戦いの古戦場は、湖北省蒲圻市（現：赤壁市）西南の長江南岸に位置する赤壁山のようですが、赤壁の戦に思いを馳せうたったこの詩のすばらしさによって、それはどうでもよくなっております。

 

 

 

 

でですね、この茶器に描かれた「赤壁賦」はといいますと、スタッフY調べによりますと、どうやら「後赤壁の賦」のようでありました。

詩の冒頭は、「是歳十月之望…」と、続いております。

 

全文を解釈付きで読みましたが、内容を端的に読みますと、（全く情緒がなく、すみません）元豊五年の旧暦十月十五日の夜、蘇軾は再び赤壁を訪ね、この時は、二人の客人と雪堂から臨皋亭に帰る途中、風雅な話をしているうちに、酒と肴を調達して、赤壁まで月見に出かけた様子をえがいております。前作と異なるところは、この作品には道士が夢に出てくるなど、道教的な雰囲気が色濃く漂っていることのようですが、漢文がすらすらと読めたのなら、もっとこの詩の風景を想像しながら味わうことができたのでしょうが、注釈付きで読むのが精いっぱいでありました。

 

漢文を読むにはしばらくお勉強は必要ですので、せめてこの茶器にお茶を注ぎ、つたない知識に苦戦しながら「赤壁賦」を読み解き、その風景に思いを馳せ、一服することを当座の目標にすることと致します笑。

It is raining in Nagoya today. On days like this, I clean up and tidy up the store more carefully than usual, but I was curious about the pattern of a tea utensil I picked up, so I studied it a little.

 

This tea bowl is a work of “Hansuke,” a Seto potter of the late Edo period. I was attracted by its plump shape and fine, gentle characters.

The characters are from a Chinese poem “Akakabe-obi”.

 

The poem is a masterpiece of Su Dongpo, a politician and literary scholar of the Northern Song Dynasty in China. This poem seems to be a poem about the time of the night of the 16th day of the seventh lunar month in the fifth year of Yuanfeng (1082) in the Song Dynasty.

The famous Battle of Red Cliffs in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms took place in 208 AD, and this is a very emotional poem that describes the scenery of the supposedly ancient battlefield that Su Shi visited about 800 years later, as well as his feelings in front of it. Please bear with me.

 

The first poem, “A Fable on Red Cliff,” was written in July, and the second poem, “A Fable on Red Cliff,” was written three months later in October.

 

Because it seems that Su Shi visited Red-Nose Beach on the north bank of the Yangtze River in the northwest of Huangzhou District, Huanggang City, Hubei Province, which is called “Dongpo Red Cliff (also known as Wen Red Cliff)”. This place was not the actual battlefield, but it came to be regarded as the ancient battlefield of Red Cliff after the late Tang Dynasty poet Du Mu wrote a poem about it, and it seems to have become more famous than the actual battlefield due to Su Shi’s work. The original battlefield of the battle of Red Cliff is located on the south bank of the Yangtze River in the southwestern part of Gamakko City (now Red Cliff City), Hubei Province.

 

According to our staff Y’s research, the poem depicted on the tea utensil seems to be “The Poem of Akakabe”.

The poem begins with the words, “The year is October, and the month is October….

 

(Sorry for the lack of sentimentality.) On the night of the 15th day of the 10th lunar month in the 5th year of the Yuan Feng lunar calendar, Su Shi once again visited Red Cliff, this time with two guests on their way back to Linsun Pavilion from Xuedang. The story depicts a moon-viewing trip to Akakabe with two guests on their way back to Rinsho Pavilion from Xuedang. If I had been able to read the Chinese text easily, I would have been able to imagine and appreciate the scenery of this poem more, but I could only read it with annotations.

 

I will need to study for a while before I can read Chinese texts, so I would like to make it my goal for the time being to pour a cup of tea in this teacup, read “Akakabe-obi” while struggling with my limited knowledge, think about the scenery, and sip a cup of tea, lol.
