Hello everyone. This is Staff N.

I couldn’t go for a walk because of the rain today, but thank you for purchasing a lot from the morning.

The other day, my cat was behaving strangely, so when I approached it, I was fighting a spider.

(Please be assured that there will be no pictures of spiders.)

A small spider, wondering if he could be killed soon, quickly dodged, slipped into the gap in the door, escaped to the bathroom and survived.

Since then, the spider has been living in the bathroom for a long time, but when I tried to poke it or put out a little bit, I went to the upper part that I could not reach.

When I looked into the smart spiders that fend off from both cats and people, I found something surprising.

There are about 1,200 species of spiders inhabiting Japan. There seems to be.

There are various sizes depending on the type, and some spiders do not nest.

The 2-3 mm chili spider and the 6-30 mm Nephila clavata are common types of spiders that nest, while the small jumping spiders that bounce around and the large Huntsman spiders that are 25-30 mm are wandering spiders that do not nest. Become.

When it comes to that, we may be a jumping spider.

I think that what many people find troublesome is the type of spider that builds a nest, but the spider’s web is made up of thin threads that are hard to tear, and it gets caught unknowingly and becomes sticky, giving an unclean impression. I will give you.

Spiders use the natural wind to smoothly reciprocate and build their nests, so be aware that if the nests are still small, they will grow quickly if left unattended.

Most spiders in Japan are not poisonous, so there is no problem if they are left unattended.

Many have heard from grandparents that spiders should not be killed even if they appear at home.

There are many parts that are thought to be just superstitions, but there are also parts that make sense.

Reason ➀ Shaka-sama’s messenger

Spiders are carnivorous insects that prey on pests such as flies, mosquitoes, mites and cockroaches, despite their grotesque appearance.

For this reason, the idea of spiders = beneficial insects has been deeply rooted for a long time, and in Buddhism it is sometimes referred to as the messenger of Shaka-sama.

Ryunosuke Akutagawa’s short story for children, “The Spider’s Thread,” is based on this legend.

Reason (2) It will be a good day to see spiders in the morning

From ancient times in Japan, it has been said that it is auspicious to see spiders in the morning, especially among merchants.

It is said that spiders nest very often on sunny days.

When a spider builds a nest, it clears up = customers come and the idea of prosperous business becomes stronger, and gradually seeing spiders in the morning = good luck, the detailed meaning is omitted and only the good luck is emphasized and handed down. It is thought that it was.

An old legend often says, “Don’t kill if a spider appears in the morning. Kill if a spider appears at night.”

As mentioned above, it is said that spiders invite people among merchants, and it seems that a superstition has been created that people who come in the morning = customers but people who come at night = thieves, so spiders at night are useless.

However, the spiders that enter the house at night come in through a small gap, so it’s no wonder that the house where the spiders come in forgets to lock the door and a thief comes.

On the contrary, Ojibwe, an ethnic minority in the northern part of the North American continent, uses the decoration “Dreamcatcher” with a spider web as a motif as a talisman and a nightmare.

With that in mind, it would be good to have the spider stay at home for a while to get rid of the pests.

I sometimes see spiders who come to visit the antique art Fukosha. You are returning as soon as possible (laughs)

See you soon
