梅雨入り前のカラッとした暑さが続く名古屋は、現在の気温２６度。お日様は隠れ、一日中曇りのようですが、紫外線がすごそうです。

 

昨晩、今日のお天気を見ようとスマートフォンのアプリを開くと・・・

 

 

軽度の汚染となっていました。

日中はあまり見ない画面なので少し驚きました…

「敏感な人には健康被害が生じるおそれがあります。」とあったので、皆さまも夜寝る時は窓を開けっぱなしにして寝ないように。

ですが、熱中症などはもう気を付けなければいけない季節です。ご注意ください。

 

 

ところで皆さま、夏も近づくこの季節になりますと、我が家のネムノキがとっても美しい花を咲かせます。

 

 

ネムノキはマメ科ネムノキ属の落葉高木です。地植えにしておくと１０ｍくらいにまで大きくなります。日本の風土に良く合い丈夫な事から、庭木の他、公園や寺社などにも好まれて使用されます。山野に自生していることもよくあります。

 

ネムノキの特徴は、水鳥の産毛のようなふわふわとした花と、葉の就眠運動です。花は花芯近くの白から花びらの先端に向かって淡いピンクへとグラデーションがついているのが印象的です。

そしてこのネムノキは、暗くなると眠る就眠運動と花の美しさからよく詩歌の題材とされます。

特に有名なのは芭蕉の「奥の細道」にある名句「象潟や雨に西施がねむの花」ですね。

 

このネムノキの葉は、鳥の羽に似た形状の「羽状複葉（うじょうふくよう）」です。羽状複葉とは葉柄の両側に小さな葉が羽のように広がっている様子を言います。

ネムノキの名前のは夜になると、葉を眠るように閉じることからつけられたと言われていて、「合歓木（ねむのき）」という漢字も、中国ではこの葉を閉じる様子を夫婦円満に見立てて名付けられたと言われています。縁起の良い植物ですね。

 

 

昼間は写真の奥にもあるように、花も萎れたように元気がなく見えるのですが、夕方になり辺りが暗くなってくると手前のように少しずつ開き始めます。

 

それとは反対にネムノキの葉は、暗くなると眠くなってしまうように葉を閉じてしまう姿が、いつ見ても可愛らしく、我が家の「眠り姫」と呼んでいます。

私も負けないくらい眠り姫ですが、私の場合は昼間の暖かい日を浴びると眠くなってしまいます。（笑）

現在１４時ですが、もうそろそろ丁度良い時間になってきました・・・

 

 

話が逸れてしまいましたが、このネムノキたくさんの花を咲かせるのですが、夜になって必ず花が咲くというわけでもなく気まぐれで開かない花たちもあるのです。

今日はいくつ咲いたかな～と数を数えたりするのも、その日の楽しみだったりするのです。

 

また今日の夜家に帰ったら数えてみなくてはいけないですね。皆さまはいくつ咲いていると思いますか？

Last night, when I opened the smartphone app to see the weather today … It was mildly polluted. I was a little surprised because the screen I don’t see much during the day … “Sensitive people may suffer health problems,” so please do not leave the windows open when you go to bed at night. However, heat stroke is a season that you should be careful about. Please be careful.

 

By the way, everyone, in this season when summer is approaching, the silk tree of my home will bloom very beautiful flowers. Albizzia is a deciduous tree of the genus Albizia in the family Leguminosae. If you plant it in the ground, it will grow to about 10m. Because it fits well with the Japanese climate and is durable, it is also used in parks and temples as well as garden trees. It often grows naturally in the mountains.

 

The characteristics of Albizia japonica are the fluffy flowers like the hair of a waterfowl and the sleep movement of the leaves. It is impressive that the flowers have a gradation from white near the core to pale pink toward the tips of the petals. And this silk tree is often the subject of poetry because of the sleep movement that sleeps when it gets dark and the beauty of flowers. One of the most famous is Basho’s “Oku no Hosomichi”, which is the famous phrase “Kisakata and the flowers of Xi Shiganemu in the rain.”

 

The leaves of Albizia japonica are “feather-like compound leaves” that resemble the feathers of a bird. A pinnate compound leaf is a state in which small leaves spread like feathers on both sides of the petiole. It is said that the name of Albizia japonica is given because it closes the leaves to sleep at night, and the Chinese character “Nemunoki” is also named after the closing of the leaves in China. It is said that it was done. It’s an auspicious plant.

 

In the daytime, as you can see in the back of the photo, the flowers look dull as if they were withered, but in the evening, when the area becomes dark, they start to open little by little like the front. On the other hand, the leaves of Albizia japonica are so cute that they close their leaves so that they become sleepy when it gets dark, and they are called “sleeping princesses” at home. I’m a sleeping princess as much as I can, but in my case, I get sleepy when I’m exposed to warm daytime days. (Smile) It’s 14:00 now, but it’s almost time for me …

 

The story goes awry, but this silk tree blooms a lot of flowers, but it does not always bloom at night, and there are some flowers that do not open on a whim. Counting how many flowers have bloomed today is also a pleasure of the day. Also, when I get home tonight, I have to count it. How many do you think are in bloom?
