Hello everyone.

The other day, when I went to Nagoya Station for business, I received a cute hospitality in the lobby of the Marriott Associa Hotel.

The hanging decoration of the chicks was displayed in front of the entrance.

Here is it.

Tsurushi decorations (hanging chicks) are cute, aren’t they?

A lot of cute dolls are hung, and the swaying appearance like a bed merry that comforts a baby, like a mobile is also lovely.

It just hangs a doll that would have been made to celebrate the birth of a girl and pray for her healthy growth, but it is a very warm existence because it contains the love of various people … ..

It seems that hanging chicks made with everyone’s feelings have been very important as an important amulet for babies since ancient times.

By the way, speaking of chicks …

It’s been 10 years since I was at my parents’ house.

Even after I got married, I had only a son in my house, so I was far away, but as a girl, I was sick of the chicks I saw for the first time in a long time.

(I feel sad when I say myself as a girl, but please forgive me. Tears)

When I entered the exhibition in the lobby of the hotel, there was one tsurushi kazari decoration, which made me feel as if I was lost in a different world.

That red space …

What should I say?

Although it is elegant, it has some strength that keeps monsters away, and it is also bewitching.

The feeling of air created by that red color is really strange.

Like the world of photography and movies expressed by Mika Ninagawa.

By the way, this red color that I have been talking about earlier.

To be precise, it seems to be scarlet.

I learned from the fact that the red felt carpet laid on the chicks is called “Himosen”.

The color of scarlet felt is red, but it is dyed with the ancient Japanese “scarlet”.

Scarlet is the most vivid and noble color next to purple among the reds dyed with Akane grass (a grass native to temperate Asia).

It has a long history, and it is said that the red color on the 12th floor of the official position, which was set during the time of Emperor Suiko, is presumed to be scarlet.

Well, when it comes to the time when such noble colored felts began to be displayed, it seems to be from the latter half of the Edo period.

According to Ukiyo-e (Kyoho era) in the middle of the Edo period, it looks like a wealthy tradesman holding a gauze cloth (shaginu: something that is pressed by hand to dye a pattern) with an inner lining and chick tools. It is drawn.

At that time, it seems that red carpets were not yet common.

Looking at the ukiyo-e prints from the latter half of the Edo period (Bunkyu era), it seems that there are some samurai princess dolls that are covered with scarlet cloth.

It seems that red felt was used around the time when the step decoration was born, but it seems that it was not decided to use plain red cloth yet.

It seems that it gradually spread as something that creates a gorgeous atmosphere suitable for spring festivals.

And in modern times, it has become common to cover the hinamatsuri with red felt.

Red is the color of the sun that represents vitality and vitality.

And red has the meaning of amulet.

Because of that meaning, I think I started to put red felt on the Hina dolls in order to create a sacred place in the house and make a place for God to come.

Fukosha is now decorating the hanging scroll of the scarlet dolls, and it is the period of the acclaimed Hinamatsuri.

The other day, staff Y’s article also decorated the one-sword carved chicks and the shellfish tub of the Edo period.

We look forward to your visit.

Please drop in if you like.
