美術の教養を少しずつでも深めようと、本日もある特集より学習させてもらいます。

「お金」に着目という面白い観点より_アートの価値や芸術家の地位はどう変化したのでしょう…

その点の西洋美術に関する歴史の流れ…深めたことがありませんでしたので、記事の力を借りてご紹介したいと思います。

 

時は遡り、古代エジプトや古代ギリシャの時代。

その頃から、アートの値段は政治や経済と密接に関わっていたとのこと。

歴史的建造物ピラミッド完成の背景には、すでに政治が左右していたというわけでしょうか。

また時代をいくつも越えて、ヨーロッパではルネサンス以前、絵・彫刻・工芸に携わる人たちは基本的に職人だったとのこと。

彼らが「芸術家」として高収入を得るようになったのは、レオナルド・ダ・ヴィンチやミケランジェロ、ラファエロら、ルネサンス三大巨匠が登場してからだそうです。

その中でも、ダヴィンチは当時から高給取りだったようで、その偉大さを示す記録も多々あるそう。

ダヴィンチの手稿で有名なものに、医学スケッチや戦車の設計図など万能の人の思考がつぶさに書き留められているものがありますね。

そしてそこには自身による収支に関するメモもあると言われています。

画料の契約はさまざまだったようですが、たとえば『東方三博士の礼拝』という絵画の報酬は、900万円相当の「土地」の支給という珍しい契約だったよう。

この頃のダヴィンチは顔料も買えなかったとのことで、前借りを申し込んでいたとのことです。

この時点、作品価格が驚異的な額で更新されている現在を知ったら、ご本人は目が点になるでしょう。

キャリアを積み、『岩窟の聖母』を描いた40代の頃には、推定500万～1200万円の年俸が支給されています。

こうなれば顔料はいくらでも買えますね笑。

その後、受注した中で最も高額なもののひとつ、傭兵隊長トリブルツィオの騎馬像などの仕事を経て、あの名作へ。

１４９８年に完成した名画『最後の晩餐』で成功した後は、年俸6000万円という高収入を得ます。

しかしこの額は、制作費や人件費を含めてとのこと。（それにしても充分です！）

この『最後の晩餐』を描いた修道院では、ダヴィンチに年俸を尋ねた枢機卿が、そのあまりの高さに不機嫌になったというエピソードもあるそうです。

生活費の記録もあり、ある１日の食費は２万５０００円！

主夫主婦の方々、家計簿をつけていらっしゃったら、それが１日分かいっ！って思っちゃいますよね笑。

これは５，６人の弟子と召使い２人程度の分を含むとのことですが、晩年には1800万円を銀行口座に預金したという記録があり、余生は優雅な生活ぶりだったことでしょう。

ダヴィンチは生前から高名で、油彩の完成作は十点余りと少なく、作品価格は当初から高かったとのことです。

世界で最も有名な美術作品『ラ・ジョコンダ（モナ・リザ）』は没後すぐにフランソワ１世がフランス王室の絵画コレクションとして、約１億２０００万円で購入。

のちにルイ14世がヴェルサイユ宮殿に移し、人の手を渡ることなく、フランス革命後にルーヴル美術館所蔵と至ります。

 

まだまだあります高額作品！

ダヴィンチが著した科学文書の収集物『レスター手稿』も幾人かのコレクターを渡っています。

最初にレスター伯爵トーマス・コーク（この方の名前に因んでいるのですね）が購入。

1980年には美術品収集家としても知られる石油王アーマンド・ハマーがオークションで落札。

（このお方、余談ですが映画「ソーシャル・ネットワーク」や「君の名前で僕を呼んで」で有名なイケメンアメリカ人俳優・アーミーハマーの曾祖父にあたる方なんです！）

お宝は受け継がれ、1994年のオークションにてビル・ゲイツがなんと3080万ドル（約30億円弱）で購入。

世界で２番目に高価で売れた本となります。

ダヴィンチの手稿は４０００枚ほど現存するそうですが、市場に出ないので高値になるとのこと。

それにしてもこの価格、ビルゲイツクラスでないとチンプンカンプンでございます。

しかし上には上があり、救世主の意でキリストを描いた作品『サルバトール・ムンディ』に関しては、2017年の時点で史上最高額・約５０４億円で落札され話題となりました。

これほど高額なのに代理人による落札のため、当初は落札者も不明と謎に包まれていましたが、やがて、サウジアラビアのバデル王子を介して、アブダビ文化観光局が所有していることが明らかに。

ここでちょっと方向が変わりますが、ルーヴルの名を冠した美術館がフランスのほかに唯一、中東にもあることをご存じでしたでしょうか。

なにやらこの名前を使う権利にものすごい驚きの金額が支払われているようですが…

”ルーヴル・アブダビ”  そうです、このアラブ最大の美術館で『サルバトール・ムンディ』が展示されるとか、まだしていないとか⁈

（う～ん、あまり確かな情報が出てこず申し訳ありません。）

ただその価値を上回る美術品たちの偉大さも改めて感じた次第であります。

After that, after working on one of the most expensive items ordered, the equestrian statue of the mercenary captain Tribruzio, he went to that masterpiece.

After succeeding in the masterpiece “The Last Supper” completed in 1498, he earns a high income of 60 million yen per year.

In the monastery where this “The Last Supper” was drawn, there is an episode that the cardinal who asked Da Vinci for his annual salary was in a bad mood because of its height.
