桜はすっかり葉桜となり、冬の間すべての葉を落としていた木々が、暖かく日差しの強い季節に備えて一斉に葉をつけ始めました。周りを見渡せば、いつの間にか緑色の量が多くなっていることに気づかされます。新緑のまぶしい季節はすぐそこですね。

 

さて、ここ数日は急な暑さとなり、今日も半袖の方を多く見かけました。だんだんと春の季節が短くなっているような気がしておりますが、今年も予想されるであろう猛暑に控え、今の季節から始めた方が良いことがあります。

 

皆さま「暑熱順化（しょねつじゅんか）」という言葉をご存知ですか？

 

徐々に体を暑さに慣らすことを「暑熱順化（しょねつじゅんか）」といいます。

体が暑さに慣れていなく、気温が急上昇するときは、熱中症が増えるタイミングです。暑熱順化により体温調節が上手くできるようになると、同じ暑さ指数（WBGT）であっても熱中症になりにくくなるのだそうです。

 

私たちは運動や仕事などで体を動かすと、体内で熱が作られて体温が上昇します。体温は上がると、汗をかくことによる「気化熱」や、心拍数の上昇や皮膚血管拡張によって体の表面から空気中に熱を逃がす「熱放散」で、体温を調節しています。

この体温の調節がうまくできなくなると、体の中に熱がたまって体温が上昇し、「熱中症」が引き起こされます。

 

つまり「暑熱順化」した身体になると、発汗量や皮膚血流が増加し体温調節がしやすくなり、塩分を失いにくくなり、水分補給で回復しやすくなる、ということです。

 

では、どんなことをするかというと…

ウォーキングやジョギングなどの有酸素運動を行うことです。とは言っても、急にはできませんので、帰宅時に一駅分歩いたり、できるだけ階段を使うなど、日常生活で取り入れられることから始めると良いかもしれません。ともかく、汗をかくことが大切なようです。個人差もありますが、暑熱順化には数日から2週間程度かかるそうです。

 

なかなかそんな時間が取れないという方には、雨の日や忙しい日でもスキマ時間にサッと実践できる「筋トレ」もオススメです。筋肉量が増えると血行が良くなり、「皮膚血流反応」や「発汗」が促され汗をかきやすい体になるのだそうです。

 

また、取り入れやすい「入浴」もオススメです。シャワーだけで済ませる方も多いかもしれませんが、しっかりお風呂につかることが暑熱順化には大切です。38〜40度のややぬるめのお湯であれば20分以上ゆっくりと、41度を超える場合は5〜10分でOKだそうです。（入浴前にはコップ一杯程度の水を飲み、お風呂から上がった後も水分補給を忘れずに）。あとは「整う」で話題のサウナなども効果的のようです。

 

この「暑熱順化」を１番に取り入れてるのが、消防隊員。

火災が発生すれば真夏であっても防火衣、ヘルメット等を着装し活動する消防隊の方々は、毎年夏前のそれほど気温が高くない時期から訓練に取りかかるそうです。

この訓練では真夏の酷暑での現場活動に備えて、早い段階から体を暑さに慣れさせていくこと、そして災害現場での熱中症の発生を未然に防いでいるそうです。

とても説得力がありますね。

 

身体が暑さ慣れしていないこの時期。自分の体調と相談しながら、来たる猛暑に向けて、暑さに強い身体作りを始めていきたいと思います。

The cherry blossoms are now completely in leaf, and the trees, which had all lost their leaves during the winter, have started to put them back on all at once in preparation for the warm and sunny season. If you look around, you will notice that the amount of green has increased before you know it. The dazzling season of fresh green is just around the corner.

 

Now, it has suddenly become hot these past few days, and I saw many people wearing short sleeves today. It seems as if the spring season is gradually getting shorter and shorter. In anticipation of the heat wave that is expected to occur this year, there are some things that we should start doing this season.

 

Have you ever heard of the term “heat acclimatization”?

 

Heat acclimatization is the process of gradually getting your body accustomed to the heat.

When the body is not acclimated to the heat and the temperature rises rapidly, this is when heat stroke increases. When the body is able to better regulate its temperature through heat acclimatization, heat stroke is less likely to occur, even when the same heat index (WBGT) is used.

 

When we move our bodies through exercise or work, heat is produced in the body and the body temperature rises. When our body temperature rises, it is regulated by “vaporization heat” through sweating and “heat dissipation” in which heat is released from the surface of the body into the air through increased heart rate and skin vasodilation.

When this body temperature regulation fails, heat accumulates in the body and the body temperature rises, causing heat stroke.

 

In other words, when the body becomes “heat acclimatized,” the amount of perspiration and skin blood flow increases, body temperature regulation becomes easier, salt loss is reduced, and recovery becomes easier with rehydration.

 

So, what do we do…

Do aerobic exercise such as walking or jogging. However, you can’t do it in a hurry, so you may want to start with something you can incorporate into your daily life, such as walking one stop on your way home or taking the stairs as much as possible. Anyway, sweating seems to be important. Heat acclimatization takes several days to two weeks, depending on the individual.

 

For those who have difficulty finding the time to do so, we recommend “muscle training,” which can be quickly practiced on rainy days or busy days in your spare time. Increased muscle mass improves blood circulation, stimulates “skin blood flow reaction” and “perspiration,” and makes the body sweat more easily.

 

Bathing is also recommended, as it is easy to incorporate into your daily routine. Many people may only take a shower, but it is important for heat acclimatization to take a bath for at least 20 minutes in slightly lukewarm water of 38 to 40 degrees Celsius, or 5 to 10 minutes if the temperature exceeds 41 degrees Celsius. (Don’t forget to drink a glass of water before taking a bath and stay hydrated after getting out of the bath.) Saunas, which are currently the talk of the town for “getting in shape,” also seem to be effective.

 

Firefighters are the first to adopt this “heat acclimatization.

Firefighters, who wear fireproof clothing and helmets even in the middle of summer if a fire breaks out, start training every year before summer when the temperature is not so high.

This training is to get their bodies accustomed to the heat at an early stage in preparation for field activities in the heat of midsummer, and to prevent heat stroke from occurring at the scene of a disaster.

That is very convincing.

 

This is the time of year when the body is not accustomed to the heat. I would like to consult with my own physical condition and start building a body that can withstand the heat in preparation for the coming heat wave.

本日名古屋は初夏のような陽気で、半そで姿の方も多く見かけました。私は寒がりなのでまだ手首足首を出す勇気はないのですが…。まだ体が暑さに慣れていない時期ですので、熱中症にもご注意ください。朝のニュースでエアコンの試運転について伝えられておりました。暑くなってからではなく５月中の涼しい時期に試運転を行うとエアコンの故障が起きにくく、また不具合が発見されても余裕を持って対処できるそうです。試運転の前に掃除もしておきたいしと一人で勝手に焦っておりました。

 

さて今、店内最前列で出迎えてくれるお品は鮮やかな色彩の九谷焼です。水盤あるいは灰入れだったのか用途は定かではありませんが、飾っておくだけで華やかな気分にさせてくれます。新芽のような明るい緑色のアクセントが今の季節に合っている気がいたします。

 

 

 

緻密な幾何学模様で埋め尽くされており、それぞれ微妙に違う模様が描かれています。不思議と重い感じはなく、愛らしく軽やかな印象を受けます。前後にはそれぞれ金色の鳳凰と獅子が描かれております。

 

 

 

鳳凰は中国から伝わった想像上の四瑞（しずい）のひとつです。めでたい時に現れる天の使いとして尊ばれた瑞兆として、麒麟、龍、亀、鳳凰が四瑞と呼ばれています。

鶏のような頭、鶴のような五色の羽、孔雀のような長い尾羽をもった華やかで美しい姿として描かれます。日本には奈良時代に伝わり、正倉院の錦などの宝物にもよく見られます。この時代には細長い首と両足を広げて描かれるという特徴があったようですが、時代と共に日本人好みの姿に変わっていったとか。平等院鳳凰堂や鹿苑寺（金閣寺）の屋根の上にいる鳳凰も有名ですね。

鳳凰は「愛と平和のまた象徴」、また鳳凰が現われるのは「おめでたい事が起こる前兆」との言い伝えがあります。羽のある生物の王とされているため、古代より「徳の高い君子が位に就く時に現れる」と伝えられています。鳳凰が飛ぶときには雷も嵐も起こらず、河川も溢れず、草木も揺れない。そして他の鳥も鳳凰の後ろをついて一斉に飛びたつとの言い伝えもあるそうです。神々しく雄大な光景が目に浮かびます。

鳳凰は本来、風をつかさどる瑞獣とされていましたが、五行思想の「万物は木・火・土・金・水の５種類の元素から成る」という考えが流行した際、四方をつかさどる神獣のうち南方を守る「朱雀」と同一視され、火の属性を持つとみなされるようになったとのこと。このためモチーフとして火とともに描かれることが多くなっていきました。そういえば手塚治虫の「火の鳥」という作品がありますね。不死鳥である火の鳥は鳳凰？それともフェニックス？

実は絵を描く際のモデルはメキシコ南部からパナマにかけての山岳地帯の森に生息する「ケツァール」という鳥だという説があります。世界一美しい幻の鳥ともいわれ、緑色の光沢のある体毛と長い尾羽が特徴で腹部は鮮やかな赤、そしてオスは長い飾り羽をもっています。画像を見てみましたが、本当に美しい鳥でした。雌の気を引くためといわれていますが、本当に雄の鳥は驚くほど（過剰なほど？）艶やかな姿のものが多いですね。

「火の鳥」、子供の頃に読み始めましたが、難解で途中で放り投げました。いつかじっくり読みたいと思いつつ実現しておりません。そう、いつかは実行に移さないかぎり訪れません。重々分かっております。

Today in Nagoya, it was like early summer, and I saw many people in half-sleeves. I am not brave enough to show my wrists and ankles yet, because I am a cold person…. Please be careful of heat stroke as your body is not yet accustomed to the heat. The morning news reported about the trial run of air conditioners. It is said that if you perform a test run during the cooler months of May, rather than when it is hotter, you are less likely to have a problem with your air conditioner, and if a problem is discovered, you can take care of it in plenty of time. I was impatiently thinking to myself, “I want to clean the air conditioner before the test run.
Now, the item that greets me in the front row of the store is a brightly colored Kutani-yaki porcelain. I am not sure if it was used as a water basin or an ashtray, but it makes me feel gorgeous just by displaying it. The bright green color, like that of new buds, seems appropriate for the current season.
They are filled with intricate geometric patterns, each with a slightly different pattern. Strangely, it does not feel heavy, but rather lovely and light. The front and back are each decorated with a golden phoenix and lion.
The phoenix is one of the four imaginary auspicious symbols from China. The Qilin, Dragon, Tortoise, and Phoenix are called the four auspicious signs, which are valued as messengers from heaven that appear on auspicious occasions.
They are depicted as gorgeous and beautiful with a head like a chicken, five-colored wings like a crane, and long tail feathers like a peacock. It was introduced to Japan in the Nara period (710-794) and is often seen in treasures such as brocades from the Shosoin Repository. In this period, the deer was depicted with a long, slender neck and legs spread apart, but over time, the style of the deer changed to suit Japanese tastes. The phoenixes on the roofs of Byodoin Phoenix Hall and Rokuonji (Kinkakuji) Temple are also famous.
According to legend, the phoenix is a symbol of love and peace, and the appearance of the phoenix is an omen that something auspicious will happen. Since the phoenix is considered the king of winged creatures, it has been said since ancient times that the phoenix “appears when a virtuous prince assumes the throne. When the phoenix flies, neither thunder nor storms occur, rivers do not overflow, and plants and trees do not sway. It is also said that other birds follow the phoenix and fly off in unison. A majestic and divine scene comes to mind.
Originally, the phoenix was regarded as a auspicious beast that controlled the wind, but when the idea that all things are composed of the five elements (wood, fire, earth, metal, and water) became popular, it was equated with the “Suzaku,” which protects the south among the four divine beasts that control the four directions, and came to be regarded as having the attribute of fire. For this reason, it was often depicted with fire as a motif. I remember the work “The Firebird” by Osamu Tezuka. Is the firebird, a phoenix, a phoenix? Or is it a phoenix?
Actually, there is a theory that the model for the painting is a bird called “Quetzal,” which inhabits the forests of the mountainous region from southern Mexico to Panama. It is said to be the most beautiful phoenix bird in the world. It is characterized by its shiny green body hair and long tail feathers, its abdomen is bright red, and the male has long ornamental feathers. I have seen images of this truly beautiful bird. It is said that this is to attract the attention of the female, but really the male birds are amazingly (excessively?) Many of them have a very glossy appearance.
I started reading “The Firebird” when I was a child, but it was so difficult to understand that I threw it away halfway through. I have been thinking that I would like to read it carefully someday, but it has not come true. Yes, someday will never come unless I put it into action. I understand that very well.

皆さまこんにちは、スタッフＴでございます。

今日はポカポカ陽気も飛び越えて、暑いくらいですね。まだ桜が楽しめる時期なのに、もう「夏日」の声が聞こえてきました。こうなってくると、毎年のことながら今年の夏が恐ろしく思えてきます。

 

 

桜もいよいよ終わりに近づき、ひらひらと舞う可愛らしい桜の花びらとともに新学期が始まりました。

気分も新たに穏やかな気持ちで、笑顔で過ごしたいと日々思っているのですが、どうもこの時期はバタバタと慌ただしく、気持ちに余裕がないなと感じています。

 

こうしてくれたら、こう言ってくれたら…。誰かの行動や言動に振り回され、嫌な気持ちにされなければ、日々のイライラもだいぶ減るのですが。

日々のイライラは自分の思い通りにいかないから。私の思い通りは他人の思い通りでないことは分かっていても、勝手に期待して勝手にイライラ。

相手のせいにしがちなイライラは、たぶん全部余裕のない自分のせいなんですよね…。

そんな時は、丁寧にお茶でも入れて、ゆっくりして心を落ち着かせたいものです。

 

みなさんはどんな時にイライラしますか？

私は、今日は靴の中で靴下が脱げてしまいちょっぴりイライラしました。でも、買ったおにぎりに海苔が2枚入っていたので、それで良しとしました。

It’s so hot today that it has eclipsed the poka-poka weather. It is still time to enjoy the cherry blossoms, but we are already hearing calls of “summer days. This is what makes me dread this summer, as I do every year.

 

The cherry blossoms are finally coming to an end, and the new semester has begun with the fluttering petals of lovely cherry blossoms.

Every day I want to spend my time with a smile and a renewed sense of calmness, but this time of year is so busy and hectic that I feel I don’t have much time to spare.

 

I wish someone would do this or say this…. If I didn’t feel so bad about being pushed around by someone’s actions or words, my daily frustration would be much less.

My daily frustration is because things don’t go my way. I know that what I want is not what others want, but I expect it to be and get frustrated on my own.

The frustration that I tend to blame on the other person is probably all my own fault for not having enough time….

I wish I could make a polite cup of tea, slow down and calm down.

 

 

When do you get irritated?

I am a little irritated because my socks are coming off in my shoes. However, the rice ball I bought today had two sheets of nori in it, so that’s good enough for me.

先日からの悪天候だったり強風だったりと、ここ名古屋、今年はなかなか落ち着いてお花見ができる時間が少なかったような気がいたしますが、皆さまの地域はいかがでしょうか。

 

まだぎりぎり大丈夫かな…と、先ほどご近所の山崎川の川沿いの桜を覗いてきましたが、爽やかな風に吹かれ桜吹雪が舞っておりました。満開もいいとは思うのですが、散りゆく花びらに華やかさや奥ゆかしさや儚さがどんな人にも溢れてくる気がいたします。

 

ここ名古屋での桜はそろそろ終わりですが、終わりを告げた頃には各所に新緑や花々が目を覚ましてきました。次なる植物の彩の移り変わりが、今度は楽しみな季節になってきましたので、それを楽しみにしたいですね。

With the bad weather and strong winds we have had since the other day, it seems like we have not had much time to enjoy viewing cherry blossoms calmly here in Nagoya this year. I just peeked at the cherry blossoms along the Yamazaki River in my neighborhood to see if they were still in full bloom, but the refreshing breeze was blowing a blizzard of cherry blossoms. I think it is nice to see the cherry blossoms in full bloom, but I feel that the petals that are falling bring out the glamour, the profundity, and the fragility of the cherry blossoms.

 

Here in Nagoya, the cherry blossoms are almost over, but as they are coming to an end, fresh greenery and flowers are waking up in various places. It is now the season to look forward to the next change in the colors of plants.

先日の強風や雨もあり、街を華やかに彩ってくれていた桜も散り始め少し寂しい気もいたします。

このはかなさゆえ毎年の開花を心待ちにしてしまうのかもしれません。

 

さて先日のブログで煎茶道について綴りましたが、風光舎にも新しく朱泥色の常滑焼の急須が入りました。

三代常山造の急須で、側面には小野小町や在原業平などの歌が刻まれております。小ぶりのサイズで、持ってみるととても軽く、注ぎ口がすっと細く伸びていて、私でも絶対に美味しくお茶を淹れられるはずと思わせてくれる急須です。

 

 

 

 

急須はあまりにも日常生活に馴染み過ぎて、しみじみと眺めたことはありませんが、この均整のとれた常滑焼を眺めておりますと不思議な感覚になります。実はこの持ち手が横についている茶器は世界的にも珍しいのだそうです。確かに中国の茶壺も、イギリスのティーポットも持ち手が後ろに付いていますね。

 

急須の起源は諸説あるようですが、江戸時代に中国から伝わってきたとされています。中国の福建省辺りで使用されていた酒や水を温める道具に「急焼（キップシュ）」や同じく酒を温める道具に「急須（キフス）」というものもあり、持ち手が横に付いていました。中国の急須は「急な用に応じて須（もち）いる」という意味を持ち、「三国時代の呉の国の人が酒を温めるために用いた」という文献が残っています。

日本では急焼（きゅうしょう）や急尾焼（きゅうびしょう）などと呼ばれ、最終的に急須（きゅうす）という現代の呼び方になったとのことです。現在でも関東地域や、富山県、石川県、静岡県、三重県、宮崎県など日本全国で急須のことを「きびしょ」と呼んでいる地域があるのだとか。その後庶民の間で「湯沸かし器」から茶を入れる道具に転用されていったそうです。

 

先日綴った煎茶道を世に広めたとされる売茶翁（ばいさおう）が使った急須はすべて中国産のものでしたが。しかしそれらはとても高価で庶民には手が出なかっため国内でも急須の製造が始まります。日本で初めて急須を作ったとされる清水六兵衛（きよみずろくべえ）は売茶翁の依頼により中国製の物をモデルにした急須を作り、以後日本の急須は独自の発展を遂げていきました。現在中国の茶道で使われている茶壺（ちゃふう）は持ち手が後ろについていますが、当時の日本人はそのまま模倣するのではなく、注ぎやすさを考え、酒器や湯沸かしとして使っていた「急焼」などのように持ち手を横につけることを選びました。また茶こしを内蔵するなど日本人の臨機応変さが際立ちます。

 

 

 

普段何気なく使っている急須ですが先人たちの試行錯誤の末、使い勝手のよい感性されたデザインとして今日まで受け継がれているのですね。

 

話は変わりますが、先日ふと川沿いを覗き込むと、２匹で仲良くお花見をしている猫たちに遭遇しました。遠くから撮ったので鮮明には写っていませんが、「桜、綺麗だねぇ」と会話しているように見えませんか？とても微笑ましい光景でした。

With the strong winds and rain we had the other day, the cherry blossoms that had decorated the town so beautifully are beginning to fall.
Perhaps it is this transience that makes us look forward to the blooming of the cherry blossoms every year.
As I wrote about the tea ceremony in my blog the other day, we now have a new Tokoname-yaki kyusu (teapot) in reddish brown color at Fuhkosha.
It is made by Tsuneyama III, and the side of the teapot is engraved with poems by Ono no Komachi and Ariwara no Narihira. The kyusu is small in size, very light when you hold it, and has a thin spout that makes you think that even I should be able to brew a nice cup of tea.
I have never looked at a kyusu so intently because it is so familiar to my daily life, but this well-proportioned Tokoname ware gives me a strange sensation. In fact, tea utensils with handles attached to the side are said to be rare in the world. It is true that Chinese tea pots and English teapots have their handles on the back.
There are various theories about the origin of the kyusu, but it is believed to have come from China during the Edo period (1603-1868). There was also a kipshu, a tool used around Fujian Province in China for heating sake and water, and a kyusu, also used for heating sake, both of which had handles attached to the side. In China, kyusu means “to use for urgent purposes,” and there is a document that says “people in the Kingdom of Wu during the Three Kingdoms period used kyusu to warm sake.
In Japan, it was called kyusu-shou or kyubi-shou, and eventually came to be known as kyusu in modern times. みなさまこんにちは、スタッフＴでございます。

先日開催しました『器と骨董展』へお越しくださいまして、誠にありがとうございました。このようなイベントを通して、たくさんのお客様と交流できたらいいなと思っております。

 

 

さてこちら名古屋、桜の花もそろそろ終わりになってまいりました。

花びらに隠れて準備を始めていた新緑が次の出番を待っていたかのように顔を出しはじめ、気が付くと至る所に新緑が木々を覆いはじめております。

この季節の変わり目の移ろいが大好きです。ことに春の移ろいは、様々な命の息吹を実感でき、何か新しいことをはじめたくなり、そわそわしてなんだか落ち着きがなくなります(笑)。

 

新しいことと言えば、新入学の時期ですね。昨日はカラフルなランドセルを背負った、あどけない小学一年生と親御さんたちに遭遇しました。名古屋は昨日今日で公立小中学校の入学式のようです。まだぶかぶかの制服に身を包んで、やや緊張気味に歩いていく姿は微笑ましく、近所のおばちゃんは心の中で頑張れ！とエールを送っておきました。

 

カラフルなランドセルを見ると、今と昔とでずいぶん変わったものだなと思います。昔は、女の子は赤色、男の子は黒色というのが定番で、それ以外の色のランドセルはとても珍しかったものです。

今はカラーバリエーションもデザインも豊富ですね。近頃の小学生は、テレビや雑誌、インターネットなどの影響なのか、おしゃれにとても敏感なのでしょう。バイカラーやサイドやフタ部分に羽や音符、お花といったモチーフが刺繍されているデザイン性に凝ったものを多数お見かけしました。

 

ランドセルの歴史は、江戸時代にまでさかのぼります。その始まりは、幕末に輸入され、軍隊で活用されるようになった布製の背のうとされているからです。
国によって様々な通学かばんがありますが、箱型で背負式の「ランドセル」は日本独自のもので、その起源は、明治20年までさかのぼります。

 

ランドセルの発祥とされているのは、明治10年10月に開校した学習院です。当初から制服が採用されていたため、服装については統一されていた学習院ですが、通学形態については、馬車で通ったり、使用人に荷物を預けたりと様々でした。

しかし、その状況について学習院は、「学校では皆平等、家庭環境を教育の場に持ち込むのはいけない」との理念のもと、「学用品は自分の手でもってくる」べきだとし、8年後の明治18年、子どもたちは、馬車や人力車で通学することや使用人に荷物を預けることを禁止されました。

その際に採用されたのが、背中に添えて両手をあけることができ、持ち運びの利便性が良かった、軍隊用の背のうです。この背のうがオランダ語で”ランセル”と呼ばれていたことから、”ランドセル”という言葉が生まれたのです。

 

新入生を見るといつも思うのが、カバンがとても重そうなこと。私が中学生の頃、教科書って全部持ち帰って来てたっけ？と記憶は定かではありませんが、今の中学生は約10キロ以上の荷物を持って通学しているのだそうです。カバンはウーバーイーツ？と見間違うくらいの大きさです。

今は教科書＋ＰＣもあります。さらにお弁当と水筒、部活の用意。以前、一度背負わせてもらったのですが、重すぎて首、肩、背中にものすごい負荷が･･･これを毎日とは、もはや修行です。押さえられすぎて、背が伸びなくなるんじゃ？と思うほどなのです。もちろん片手では持ち上げられませんでした。

 

色々な問題があるかと思いますが、少しでも楽しい気持ちで毎日通学してほしいと思うのが親心。少しくらい荷物は減らして、心を軽くして笑顔で学校生活を送ってほしいですね。逆に私は、もう少し重い荷物を持ち上げられるくらい鍛えなくては・・・
