本日の名古屋は秋晴れ。朝晩は冷えますが、日中はとても過ごしやすく、気持ちの良い気候です。

 

一昨日の夜、ふと夜空を見上げると、とってもきれいなお月様が見えました。

どうやら満月だったらしく、とくに１０月の満月はアメリカの農事暦で「ハンターズムーン」と呼ばれるそうです。

アメリカでは各月ごとに満月の名称があり、「ストロベリームーン」や「ウルフムーン」は皆さまもよく耳にしたことがあるのではないしょうか。

 

今月の満月の名称「ハンターズムーン」とは、アメリカの先住民によって名付けられ、狩猟に最適な月だったことから、この名前がつけられたと言われています。

 

元々、秋のお月様は美しいと言われていますが、中秋の名月をはじめ、秋こそが月の観測に良い季節と言われる理由、皆さまご存知でしょうか。

 

その理由は満月の高さと気候条件にあると言われています。

月が低い位置にあると地上の塵や光に影響され、ぼやけて見えたり暗く見えたりすることがありますが、春と秋の満月は高すぎず、低すぎず、見上げるのに丁度良い高さに月が浮かびます。

 

さらに春と秋とでは、「秋晴れ」という言葉があるように、秋は空気中の水蒸気が減って空気が澄むことで、月がより際立って美しく見えるそうです。

 

これらの理由で秋のお月見が別格なのですね！！

 

お月様関連でお話すると、来月１１月８日は「皆既月食」となります。

予定では、午後５時から月が半影の中に入り、少しずつ暗くなっていきます。その後１時間ほど過ぎた午後６時過ぎから月が本影の中に入る本影食が始まり、月が段々と欠けていくそうです。午後７時過ぎには月が本影の中にすっぽりと入る皆既の状態になり、赤黒く幻想的に輝く月を長時間にわたって見ることができるそうです。

 

そして月食と同時に天王星が月にかくれる天王星食も見ることができるだとか！

天王星は約６等級で、薄い青色に見える月。見えると言っても非常に条件の良い空でも肉眼で見える限界の明るさなので、通常満月のすぐ近くであれば、圧倒的な明るさに負けてしまいます…ですが今回は皆既月食で暗くなるため、天王星も見つけやすくなるそうです。

 

今年は秋の夜長を楽しみたいと思います。

Talking about the moon, next month November 8th will be a “total lunar eclipse”. According to the schedule, the moon will enter the penumbra from 5:00 pm and it will gradually darken. About an hour later, after 6:00 pm, the umbral eclipse begins when the moon enters the umbra, and the moon gradually disappears. After 7:00 p.m., the moon will completely disappear into the umbra, and you will be able to see the fantastic reddish-black moon for a long time.

 

And at the same time as the lunar eclipse, you can also see the Uranus eclipse that Uranus hides in the moon! Uranus is about 6th magnitude and looks pale blue. Even if you say you can see it, the brightness is at the limit of what you can see with the naked eye even under very good conditions. As a result, Uranus will be easier to spot.
