白露の候、季節の変わり目となりましたが、皆様お変わりなくお過ごしでしょうか。

 

 

 

みなさま、こんにちはスタッフYでございます。

 

急にこのようなご挨拶を致しまして、どうしたのか？と、思われましたでしょうか笑。ちょっと使ってみたかったのですよ、「白露の候」を。

 

そう、本日から九月。多くの地域は今日から新学期ですね。

 

朝から、たくさんの荷物を持った小学生が我が家の前を登校しておりまして、夏休みのペースがなかなか抜けないでしょう心なしか眠そうな表情をしており、まずは窓越しに応援の朝でありました。

 

また、非常に強い勢力の台風11号（ヒンナムノー）は宮古島の南南東約200kmを、南西に進んでいるとのことでして、今朝からその様子がニュースに流れており、今後は発達しながら南西へ進み再び猛烈な勢力に発達する予想。2日(金)頃に沖縄の南で動きが遅くなり、沖縄周辺では影響範囲が拡大し、週末以降は次第に北寄りに進路を変え、来週にかけて九州に接近するおそれがあるようで、いろいろ心配しながらの朝でもありました。

天気図を見ましても、「どうした？急にその進路変更！」のような進路変更。進路の地域の皆様どうかお気を付けくださいませ。

 

それはそうと、「白露」とは書いて字の如く、朝晩の大気が冷えてきて、草木に露がつき始め白く見える様子を表す表現でありまして、“白露の候”には“草に朝露が降り始める季節となりました”という意味なのですが、本来、そんな草木に朝露がつく季節といえば秋の中盤から終わり頃の10月か11月でしょう…。

 

九月の始まりというのに「白露」なんてどうした？となってしましますが、ご存知の通り「白露の候」も、日本の旧暦と新暦にございます季節のずれであります。

 

そもそも、旧暦で「白露」とは例年9月7〜8日頃を指します。

太陽黄経が165度を通る日をさし今年は2022年は9月8日（木）にあたる日のようでして、この日から使い始めるのが適しているようです。ですが、9月23日頃には“秋分”を迎え季節区分が異なってくるので、秋分の日の前日まで使うのが好ましく、つまり「白露の候」を使う時期は9月８日頃から9月22頃までがよいようであります。

ですが、お手紙などでは先方に届くまでの日程をふまえ、「白露」を数日前倒しで使っても構わないとされておりまして、少々先取り。

 

とはいえ、まだまだクーラーガンガンの中で半そでの９月。

このところの温暖化諸々により季語や時候の挨拶にずれは大幅に感じるようにはなりましたが、美しい時候の言葉に触れますと、なんだか季節の移り変わりをより繊細にキャッチできそうな気も。先取りは悪くないだろう、こんな美しい時候のご挨拶を今後使ことはあるのだろうか…、などと色々思いながら本日はかなり先取りではありましたが使ってみましたよ、「白露の候」。

Yes, today is September. In many areas, the new school term starts today.

 

In the morning, elementary school students with a lot of baggage were walking to school in front of our house, and they looked sleepy, as if they had not yet lost the pace of the summer vacation.

 

The typhoon No. 11 (Hinamuno), which is very strong, is moving southwestward about 200 km south-southeast of Miyako Island, and the news has been reporting on its progress since this morning. It is expected to slow down south of Okinawa around Friday, the 2nd, and expand its area of influence around Okinawa, gradually changing its course to the north after the weekend and possibly approaching Kyushu by next week.

Looking at the weather map, I was thinking, “What’s wrong? What’s up with that sudden change of course? The weather map shows a sudden change in its path. Please be careful, everyone in your area.

 

By the way, “white dew” is, as the Chinese characters suggest, an expression that describes how dew begins to form on plants and trees as the air cools in the morning and evening, making them appear white. Originally, the season for morning dew on grass and trees would be October or November, the middle or end of autumn….

 

What is the meaning of “white dew” at the beginning of September? As you know, “Shiro dew season” is also a seasonal difference between the old calendar and the new calendar in Japan.

 

To begin with, “Shiro dew” in the lunar calendar usually means around September 7 to 8.

It is the day when the solar longitude passes through 165 degrees, and this year, 2022, it seems to fall on September 8 (Thursday), so it is appropriate to start using it on this day. However, since the “autumnal equinox” will be around September 23 and the seasonal divisions will be different, it is preferable to use it until the day before the autumnal equinox, which means that “the season of the white dew” should be used from around September 8 to September 22.

However, it is acceptable to use “Shiro-roku-no-zokou” a few days earlier for letters, etc., in consideration of the time it takes to reach the recipient, so we are a little ahead of the schedule.

 

However, it is still September in the air conditioner and half-sleeved kimono.

Although I feel that there is a significant gap in seasonal words and greetings due to the recent global warming, I feel that I can catch the change of the season more delicately when I come in contact with beautiful seasonal words. I wondered if I would ever use such beautiful seasonal greetings in the future…and so I decided to use them today, though quite ahead of time.
