今朝は雨が降ったり止んだりのお天気です。みなさまの地域はどんな様子でしょうか。

そして気がつけば、街路樹の色合いの鮮やかさに季節の変化を感じられるようになってきました。ですが、今日のようなお天気ですと、晴れの日とはまた違った景色に見えてきます。

 

景色の中の緑色を見ていますと、ひと言に緑色と言っても様々な緑があるのに気が付きます。同じ緑というトーンですが、実は多くの色に溢れています。木々が芽吹いていく様は、パワーに満ち溢れていて良い香りがするようで、なんだか明るい気持ちになれそうです。

 

「新緑」と言われてイメージするのはどんな色でしょうか。若葉の色なら黄緑色、新鮮な緑？とでも言うのでしょうか。英語ではfresh green とかtender greenといいますね。

日本人の色に対する表現は、古くから単に色だけを表す言葉ではありません。瑞々しさ、葉間にきらめく光、草や花の香り、そよ風などなど様々に表現されますね。

 

以前、日本の伝統色のお話をいたしましたが緑系の伝統色は83色もあるそうです。かつての古人は、きっとこの新緑の色をなんとか表現したかったでは…と私は思うのです。それゆえに83色もの伝統色が生まれたのではないかと勝手に推測しております。

 

人間に新緑はありませんが、時々初心に立ち返えり、頭も心もリフレッシュしたいものです。
