本日の名古屋は青空が広がっており日差しが眩しいくらいのなですが、爽やかな風が吹いておりそれほど蒸し暑さは感じません。とは言え気温は30度近いので水分をしっかり取るように努めたいですね。

さて、梅雨明けが待ち遠しい今日この頃ですが、これからの季節にぴったりのお茶をご紹介したいと思います。

 

 

 

先日友人から、乾燥させた「ある花とその種」を頂きました。お湯を注ぐと透明だったお湯がみるみるうちに綺麗な青に変わっていったのです！

この花の正体は「バタフライピー」と言います。和名は「蝶豆」。その名の通り羽を広げた小さな蝶のように愛らしい青い花です。

 

 

原産国はタイやインドなど東南アジアで、布の染色や食品の着色料として、また、目と美容に良いハーブティーとして古くから愛用されてきたマメ科の植物なのですが日本で知られるようになったのは、ここ数年のことだそうです。わたくしも初めて知ったところでございました。

それにしましても目と美容に良いと聞くと飲まずにはいられません(笑）一体どんな効能があるのでしょうか。

バタフライピーの主成分は「アントシアニン」だそうです。抗酸化物質ポリフェノールの一種で、ブルーベリーの成分としてお馴染みですが、バタフライピーにはブルーベリーの４倍以上のアントシアニンが含まれているそうで、目の機能回復、抗炎症、美肌美髪などが期待できるとされております。

しかしながら、血小板凝固を抑制する成分なども含まれているため、妊婦さんや貧血のある方など体調によっては接種を控えた方がよい場合もあるようです。

そんなバタフライピーをの効能に大いに期待を抱いたスタッフKは、バタフライピーを使って涼しげなドリンクとスイーツを作ってみることに致しました。

 

☆バタフライピーとはちみつレモンのスカッシュ☆

グラスの底にはちみつとレモンを絞った果汁をいれます。氷、炭酸水、バタフライピーティーを冷ましたものの順に注ぐとグラデーションがとっても綺麗なドリンクが出来上がりました！

冷やしたバタフライピーティーも爽やかで涼しげですね。

ここで童心に帰る実験をやってみましょう（笑）バタフライピーティーにレモン果汁などを加えると色が青から紫に変化します。リトマス試験紙と同じですね。理科の実験を思い出しながら色が変わるたびに大喜びしてしまいました。

 

 

 

 

☆あじさいゼリー☆

青や紫のバタフライピーティー(濃い目に淹れます）に砂糖、粉ゼラチンを入れて冷やし固めてゼリーを作り、牛乳、砂糖、粉ゼラチンで作ったミルクプリンの上に賽の目に切ったゼリーを乗せて出来上がりです。

 

 

 

バタフライピーそのものにはほんのり豆の香りがしますがほぼ無味です(笑)。最近は粉末や、ティーバッグが手に入りやすくなっています。また園芸店では種も売られていますのでみなさまもこの神秘的な青いお茶を楽しんでみられてはいかがでしょうか。

Today in Nagoya, the sky is blue and the sun is shining brightly, but there is a refreshing breeze blowing, so it does not feel so hot and humid. However, the temperature is still close to 30 degrees Celsius, so we should make an effort to drink plenty of water.

Now that the rainy season is about to end, I would like to introduce a tea that is perfect for the coming season.

The other day, a friend gave me dried “a certain flower and its seeds. When I poured hot water into it, the clear water turned into a beautiful blue color in no time at all!

The flower is called “butterfly pea. Its Japanese name is “Butterfly Pea. As the name suggests, it is a lovely blue flower that looks like a small ｂutterflywith its wings spread.

It is a leguminous plant that has been used for a long time in Southeast Asia, such as Thailand and India, as a dye for cloth, as a food coloring, and as a herbal tea good for eyes and beauty. It is only in the last few years that it has become well known in Japan.

But I can’t help but drink it when I hear that it is good for eyes and beauty (laugh).

The main ingredient of butterfly peas is anthocyanin. Anthocyanins are a type of antioxidant polyphenol, and are well-known as an ingredient in blueberries. Butterfly Pea contains more than four times as much anthocyanins as blueberries, and is expected to help restore the function of the eyes, fight inflammation, and beautify the skin and hair.

However, since it also contains ingredients that inhibit platelet coagulation, pregnant women and those with anemia may want to refrain from inoculation depending on their physical condition.

With high expectations for the benefits of butterfly peas, Staff K decided to try making a cool drink and a sweet using butterfly peas.

 

Butterfly peas and honey lemon squash

Put honey and squeezed lemon juice in the bottom of a glass. Pour ice, soda water, and chilled Butterfly Pea Tea in that order, and you have a beautiful gradation of color in the drink!

The chilled Butterfly Pea Tea is also refreshing and cool.

Let’s try an experiment that will take you back to your childhood (laugh). When lemon juice or other ingredients are added to Butterfly Pea Tea, the color changes from blue to purple. It is just like a litmus test paper. I was overjoyed every time the color changed, remembering the science experiment.

 

Hydrangea jelly

Blue or purple butterfly pea tea (brewed thick), sugar, and powdered gelatin are added to cool and harden to make jelly.

Butterfly peas themselves have a slight bean flavor, but are almost tasteless (laugh). Recently, powdered or tea bags have become more readily available. Seeds are also sold at gardening stores, so why don’t you enjoy this mysterious blue tea?
