今年に入ってから３カ月が過ぎようとしてるとは、早いものです。

今朝は『森鴎外の随筆原稿２点発見』との記事が出ていました。

”文豪・森鷗外の出身地である島根県津和野町は、鴎外が明治時代に北九州市の新聞に寄稿した、奈良時代から平安時代にかけて活躍した貴族の和気清麻呂に関する随筆の原稿2点を見つけた”と発表したとのこと。

町によると、鴎外は１９０２年、福岡県門司市（現北九州市）の新聞「門司新報」に依頼され、和気清麻呂の生涯や北九州市の「足立山」にまつわる伝説などについて調査し、随筆を寄稿していたそうです。

その後、鴎外は東京へ戻り、翌０３年に追加の考証を反映させた新たな随筆を寄稿。

いずれも鴎外の本名である「森林太郎」の名前が記されているとのことです。

このようなお宝発見話はわくわくすると同時に、名作を読み返すいい機会にもなります。

 

数年前、スタッフ I は門司を訪れたことがあります。

愛知県出身者からすると、門司は門司港を含め、なんとも異国情緒溢れる街並みに映りました。

バナナの叩き売り発祥の地としても有名ですが…

壮大な関門海峡を挟んで下関と向かい合い、南側は小倉に隣接する交通の要地。

本州から九州への玄関口として昔から栄えてきた様がよく分かります。

いい意味で、昔から変わらない貿易の歴史を感じ取れる場所という印象でした。

「門司港レトロ」と銘打って、門司港地区に残る歴史的建造物の保存・活用が行われたので、観光で訪れた方も多くいらっしゃると思います。

（国指定重要文化財・旧門司三井倶楽部では名物焼きカレーもちゃんといただきました！）

 

 

そしてその北九州市には森鷗外旧居や鴎外橋、文学碑など森鷗外の面影を感じられるスポットがいくつもあります。

医者の家系に生まれた鷗外は幼いころから学力に秀でており、将来を期待されていたようです。

東京大学卒業後、陸軍軍医となり派遣留学生としてドイツで４年過ごしています。

鴎外作品に影響を与えたものとして、アンデルセンやゲーテ、シェイクスピアなど…

初期の代表作『舞姫』はドイツでの実体験をふまえていることは有名ですね。

西欧体験、素敵です。

軍医として職務を果たしながら、様々な肩書を持ち、文学者としても大きな功績を残している鴎外。

帰国後しばらくしてから約３年間赴任していたのが北九州市の小倉になります。

一度しか訪れたことのない北九州市ですが、九州地方にやたらと異国情緒を感じてしまうのは私だけでしょうか笑。

今朝はこんな文学発見ニュースから、以前の旅の記憶がよみがえる_

そんな一日となりました。

It’s too early for three months to pass this year.

This morning, there was an article saying “I found two essay manuscripts by Ogai Mori”.

“Tsuwano Town, Shimane Prefecture, the birthplace of the literary master Ogai Mori, wrote two manuscripts about Wake no Kiyomaro, a nobleman who was active from the Nara period to the Heian period, which Ogai contributed to a newspaper in Kitakyushu during the Meiji period. “I found it,” he said.

According to the town, in 1902, Kogai was asked by the newspaper “Moji Shinpo” in Moji City, Fukuoka Prefecture (currently Kitakyushu City) to investigate the life of Wake no Kiyomaro and the legends related to “Adachiyama” in Kitakyushu City, and wrote a note. It seems that he was contributing.

After that, Ogai returned to Tokyo and contributed a new essay reflecting his additional essay in 2003.

It is said that the name of “Ogai Mori”, which is the real name of Ogai, is written in each case.

This kind of treasure discovery story is exciting and at the same time a good opportunity to reread the masterpiece.

 

A few years ago, Staff I visited Moji.

From the perspective of people from Aichi prefecture, Moji looked like a cityscape full of exoticism, including Mojiko.

It is also famous as the birthplace of banana smashing …

Facing Shimonoseki across the magnificent Kanmon Straits, the south side is a transportation hub adjacent to Kokura.

You can see how it has prospered since ancient times as a gateway from Honshu to Kyushu.

In a good way, I had the impression that it was a place where you could feel the history of trade that has not changed since ancient times.

The name “Mojiko Retro” was used to preserve and utilize the historic buildings that remain in the Mojiko area, so I think many people have visited for sightseeing.

(At the former Moji Mitsui Club, a nationally designated important cultural property, we also had the famous grilled curry properly!)

 

 

 

And in Kitakyushu City, there are many spots where you can feel the remnants of Ogai Mori, such as the former residence of Ogai Mori, Ogai Bridge, and a literary monument.

Born into a family of doctors, Ogai has excellent academic ability since he was a child, and he seems to have been looking forward to the future.

After graduating from the University of Tokyo, he became an army surgeon and spent four years in Germany as an international student.

Andersen, Goethe, Shakespeare, etc. have influenced Ogai’s work …

It is famous that his early masterpiece “Maihime” is based on his actual experience in Germany.

Western Europe experience is wonderful.

Ogai has various titles while fulfilling his duties as a military doctor, and has made great achievements as a literary writer.

After a while after he returned to Japan, he was assigned to Kokura in Kitakyushu City for about three years.

I’ve only visited Kitakyushu once, but I wonder if I’m the only one who feels exotic in the Kyushu region.

This morning, this literary discovery news brings back memories of my previous trip.

It was such a day.
