本日９月４日は「心を注ぐ急須の日」だそうです。急須でお茶を飲む文化の普及と、人と人とのコミュニケーション拡大を目指すこと、また「急（９）須（４）」の語呂合わせから制定されました。

 

 

唐突な質問になりますが、最近の若者は急須でお茶を淹れたりするのでしょうか。

ちなみに我が家は急須を愛用しておりまして、ゆっくり急須でお茶を淹れる時間は唯一心が落ち着く時間なのです。

 

そんな癒しの効果も高い急須、見た目や手にした時のフィット感、サイズなどこだわり　　ある方多いのではないでしょうか。

急須を使われる方は、毎日のように使うものだからこそ素材やデザインはとっても重要な部分。

 

今日が「急須の日」ということもありますので、少し調べてみました。

 

急須といえば、常滑焼や萬古焼きなどを思い浮かべる方も多いと思います。高品質なものが多いだけでなく、一定の吸水性と水に含まれる不純物を取り除く性質があり、お茶の味をまろやかにする効果もあるのだとか。

常滑焼を代表とする炻器のほか、益子焼や美濃焼などの陶器も、お茶の旨味や渋みをバランスよく引き出す性質を持っているそうです。

また有田焼などの磁器の急須は、陶器と比べると吸水性は劣りますが、その分茶葉やお湯そのものが持つお茶本来の味と香りを堪能できます。

 

そして、南部鉄器。重厚なデザインと耐久性の高さは、他の素材にはない良さがありますよね。

基本的にお湯を沸かすための道具として使用されてきたので、繊細な味を引き出すのには適していませんが、ほうじ茶や玄米茶などを淹れる分には問題がないそうです。

 

最後に「耐熱ガラス」。

こちらは現代の若者などにも親しみやすい急須だと思います。ガラス製の良いところは、茶葉が開いていく様子や色の変化など見た目も楽しめるということ。そしてお茶の香りや味をストレートに出す特徴があります。

中国茶の一種で工芸茶のような、お湯を注ぐとゆっくりと中から色鮮やかで美しい花が開花する様子を楽しむことできるお茶などはこのガラス製の急須がピッタリです。

 

急須の素材によって、お茶の楽しみ方もさまざまあり、いろんな種類の急須を集めてみたくなってきました。

 

そういえば、大学時代茶道サークルに入ろうか悩みに悩んだ結果、入らなかったのですが、今となってはあの時初めていれば…と考えたりもします。

もちろん今から始めてみても全然ありな感じがします。まずは「日日是好日」という映画をもう一度見て気持ちを高めたいと思います（笑）

This is a sudden question, but do young people these days brew tea in a teapot? By the way, my family loves teapots, and the time I spend slowly brewing tea in a teapot is the only time I can relax.

 

I’m sure there are many people who are particular about the teapot that has such a healing effect, the appearance, the fit when held in the hand, and the size. For those who use teapots, the material and design are very important because they use it almost every day. Today is also “teapot day”, so I did a little research.

 

Speaking of teapots, many people think of Tokoname-yaki and Banko-yaki. Not only are many of them of high quality, but they also have the property of absorbing a certain amount of water and removing impurities from the water, which also has the effect of making the tea taste milder. In addition to stoneware represented by Tokoname ware, pottery such as Mashiko ware and Mino ware also have the property of drawing out the umami and astringency of tea in a well-balanced manner. In addition, porcelain teapots such as Arita ware are less absorbent than ceramic teapots, but you can enjoy the original taste and aroma of tea leaves and hot water itself.

 

And Nambu ironware. The solid design and high durability have advantages that other materials do not have. Since it was basically used as a tool for boiling water, it is not suitable for bringing out delicate flavors, but it seems that there is no problem when brewing hojicha or genmaicha. Finally, “heat-resistant glass”. I think this is a teapot that is familiar to modern young people. The good thing about glass is that you can enjoy the way the tea leaves open and the color change. And there is a feature that straight out the scent and taste of tea. This glass teapot is perfect for tea that is a kind of Chinese tea, such as craft tea, where you can slowly enjoy the beautiful flowers blooming from inside when hot water is poured.

 

There are various ways to enjoy tea depending on the material of the teapot, and I started to want to collect all kinds of teapots. Come to think of it, when I was in college, I was worried about joining a tea ceremony circle, but I didn’t, but now I think about it. Of course, even if I start now, I feel like there is nothing at all. First of all, I would like to watch the movie “Hichikore Kojitsu” again to lift my spirits (laughs). (As an aside, I recommend this movie, “Days and Days is a Good Day”!)
