本日は、ここ名古屋爽やかな晴天。桜の花もそろそろ満開のピークを越え、花弁がひらひらと舞い始めて参りました。そんな、舞い散る花弁の中を自転車にて通り過ぎておりましたら、その名古屋地方気象台の敷地に植わっております桜の花びらのであることに気づきました。

 

しばし自転車をとめて仰ぎ見ますと、満開の桜の隙間から青空にそびえる白亜のレーダードームが。

 

 

 

 

こちらの名古屋地方気象台、ご存じの通りこの地域の地上気象観測や地域気象観測（アメダス）、生物季節観測からなる気象観測業務、予報業務、地震情報・防災・広報業務をおこなっておりまして、一日に一度は、皆様TVなどのお天気予報や地震情報などでお世話になっておりますよね。

 

実はここ名古屋は、名古屋地方気象台の敷地内に桜の標本木がございます。こちらの桜の開花によって、この近辺の開花宣言が発信されるようです。

 

こちらの施設、古美術風光舎名古屋店から自転車で５分くらいのいたって普通の住宅地の小高い山の上にございますが、職員の方や関係者の方しかこちらの施設内には立ち入ることはできないません。よって標本木を間近でながめることはできませんが、施設の入り口のぎりぎりのところまでお邪魔して、なんとかのぞいて探してみましたが、わかるはずないか…。構内には何本かの満開の桜が咲いておりましたが、どれが標本木かは残念ながら確認はできませんでした。

 

噂によると、かなりの老木のようで樹齢は定かではないようですが、1923年にこちらの気象台から開設されているようですのでそれより以前にはここに存在していたのでしょうか。また、不測の事態のために二代目も育てているようですので、どうぞご安心を。

 

そんな名古屋の桜開花は、この施設の敷地内のソメイヨシノに5～6輪以上(「5輪以上」で良いと思う表現だけど。)の花が開いた状態となった日に発表されます。先ほども述べた通り、こちらの敷地内は東京の靖国神社のように一般の人が立ち入ることはできませんので、「桜開花発表だって、花見行くぞっ！」といった周りの盛り上がりはない中、少し寂しいいえいえ落ち着いた開花宣言でありそうですね。ですが、TV大騒ぎしているような周りからのプレッシャーはなさそうですね笑。

 

 

 

 

結局のところ標本木は確認できませんでしたが、この抜けるような青空と真っ白なレーダードームそして満開の桜は贅沢にも独り占めですることできました。そんなひらひらと舞う花びらのなかを「この風景は目に焼き付けよう」と思いながら自転車で走り抜けた今朝でありました。

Today is a refreshing sunny day here in Nagoya. The cherry blossoms have already passed the peak of full bloom, and the petals have begun to flutter. When I was riding my bicycle past the scattered petals, I noticed that it was the petals of the cherry blossoms planted on the site of the Nagoya Local Meteorological Observatory.

 

When I stopped my bicycle for a while and looked up, I saw a chalk radar dome rising in the blue sky through the gaps between the cherry blossoms in full bloom.

 

This Nagoya Local Meteorological Observatory, as you know, is engaged in ground-based meteorological observation, regional meteorological observation (AMEDAS), meteorological observation work consisting of seasonal biological observation, forecast work, earthquake information, disaster prevention, and public relations work for one day. Once in a while, everyone is indebted to us for weather forecasts and earthquake information on TV.

 

Actually, here in Nagoya, there is a cherry tree specimen on the premises of the Nagoya Local Meteorological Observatory. It seems that the flowering of this cherry blossom will send out a declaration of flowering in this area.

 

This facility is located on a small mountain in an ordinary residential area, about 5 minutes by bicycle from the antique art Fukosha Nagoya store, but only staff and related persons can enter this facility. not. Therefore, it is not possible to look at the specimen tree up close, but I tried to find it by going to the very limit of the entrance of the facility, but I wonder if I can understand it. There were some cherry blossoms in full bloom on the premises, but unfortunately it was not possible to confirm which was the specimen tree.

 

Rumor has it that it looks like a fairly old tree and its age is uncertain, but since it was opened from this meteorological observatory in 1923, did it exist here before that? Also, it seems that the second generation is also being raised due to unforeseen circumstances, so please be assured.

 

Such cherry blossoms in Nagoya will be announced on the day when the Yoshino cherry tree on the premises of this facility has 5 to 6 or more flowers (although “5 or more” is a good expression). As I mentioned earlier, the site is not open to the general public like Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo, so I’m a little lonely while there is no excitement around me saying “Sakura flowering announcement, I’m going to see the cherry blossoms!” No, it seems to be a calm declaration of flowering. However, there seems to be no pressure from the surroundings like the TV fuss.

 

After all, I couldn’t confirm the specimen tree, but I was able to lavishly monopolize this clear blue sky, the white radar dome, and the cherry blossoms in full bloom. It was this morning when I ran through the petals fluttering and fluttering on my bicycle, thinking, “Let’s burn this landscape into my eyes.”
